I have a 14 month old son and when I see him start to pee I will put him on the potty, we have a BB potty chair. He will not stay on the potty no matter what I do. He will get up and them pee on the carpet. When he does start to pee on the floor he always stops mid-stream and looks down. Then will move a few steps way and finish in another spot. If I catch him pooing and put him on the potty I get the feeling that he is holding the rest. When he getts up it is much later that he will actually finish. If just going in the cloth diaper or the the floor he will just finish his business. What should I do? Please help. Oh, he likes to take the white insert out of the BB potty and play with it. I'm thinking of getting a little one. Please help, help, help!!!

Have you tried distraction. Such as his fav show or toy. Or playing a game on the potty such as patty cake. Or try using the big potty. Do you reward him when he does his business on the potty?
We clap, sing songs, get excited, watch a tv show.

Yes, I have tried toys only for the potty, books, we have tried the big potty with a seat reducer. He will sit for just a couple of minutes if I put in Baby Einstein movie but not long. He has never actually gone in the potty. Every time I know he needs to go or stop him in mid stream and put him on the potty he will not go till he gets up.

You could try putting him in the tub to do his business-there was a recent thread on this. You might also get more help and resources at the yahoo late starters group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/IPTLateStarters/

You may have tried this but sometimes I'll give DD small treats- like freeze dried apples or mangoes will she's going. She's SOOOO into food she'll fit anywhere if she gets some food. Plus, she ALWAYS pees in her highchair... I think food relaxes her HAHA.
