Paige was just a week ago. She's 4. But I've pretty well known since she was about 2 1/2.

I've had the thought in the back of my head that DS#1 is ADHD, but the ped tells me that it isn't diagnosed until school age. DS#1 will be 4 the first week of April.

My dd goes to preschool 2 hours a week right now on Fridays. She was showing tons of problems with impulses at home and at daycare (1 day a week). She wasn't quite as bad at school, but her teacher said she was showing signs and was way more impulsive than the other kids.

DS goes to preschool too. Tuesdays and Thursdays for 3 1/2 hours each day. His teacher doesn't think that I should be worried about it, that he's just hyper. But at home he is so wound up, always going from one thing to another, in order for him to listen to you, you have to be right up in his face to get his attention. Sometimes I just think he's just hyper, but other times I don't. He uncle has ADHD pretty bad, which makes me think he will have it too.

Paige is super hyper too. But she can pay attention at school. When you talk to Paige, it just goes right through her. It's like you're not even there, even if you are in her face saying 'look at me'. My little brother has ADHD but the ped wanted to know if anyone on dh's side had it. I'm guessing it is more hereditary coming from the fathers side?

It's his dad's brother that has ADHD. I think I'm going to talk to his ped again at his 4 year visit.

MY DS is 3 and has signs that he may have it. We were referred to a local program in our state. DH has ADHD that was treated when he was younger and he now manages on his own.

DS has been seeing an occupational therapist because of his impulse control. They do not like to diagnose here until school age. I have been reading up on Sensory intergration disorder which is not recognized as ADHD but is starting to gain ground. My son is considered sensory seeking so taking risks, not sitting and focusing much because of wanting more input into his body. I have found a book that gives me games and activities that help him fulfill this sensory stimulation.

We knew Patrick was going to be at around age 2 (we've learned he has many other possible diagnosis, too, since then). Owen & Abby we're already diagnosed when we adopted (at ages 5.5 & 3).

i didn't vote. my ds is 4.5 and we've started taking him to a behavior specialist in november. She said he fits the criteria for ADHD, but i'm not sure if he's officially been diagnosed with it. When we checked out at the last doctor visit, i looked at the diagnosis written on the back and she had marked ADHD and conduct disorder. He also has language and some fine motor delays so he's going to start seeing a speech therapist and an OT at pre-school. It's all been really overwhelming dealing with his behavior and then feeling like we aren't getting anywhere with the doctor's visits...and getting passed off to someone else because no one knows what to do with him.

I knew by the time she was 18 months. I have ADHD and she was just way too much like me. By 3, I probably could have had her diagnosed but I wanted to hold off as long as possible. I finally had her diagnosed at 6 and did one medication trial before deciding it wasn't worth it and wanted to wait.

At 8, we had to start using medication. But, that was when she was also diagnosed with OCD and only half of what was driving us crazy was her ADHD behaviors. The rest was her self mutilation tendencies at any time of stress.

Once she got medicated, she went from a failing student, social pariah that looked like a freakish clown (she used to lick around her mouth until it was bloody and raw) with half her hair pulled out to a straight A student and the girl all her friends flock to. She now has a best friend, her hair has grown back and she is happy, truly happy. Finally getting her medicated was the best decision we ever made. But, we find its just as vital we keep her on her OCD meds as her ADHD meds.

I have had a feeling for quite some time that my 3year old has it. He is the only child that runs around and wont/can't sit still during the puppet show and story time at the library. Even at home he is all over the place. When I try and play with him or do work books with him I have his attention for only a few short min before he is off doing something else. We have not had a diagnoses but if they diagnose him when he is school age it wont surprise me at all.
