I'm in Jackson and I'm CD, Breastfeeding, making my own baby food and looking for cloth grocery bags to replace the plastics. I'm pretty much a freak in my area. :P

People look at me like a nut when I use a reusable grocery bag :o)

I'm actually in Alabama, but about 20 minutes south of Waynesboro. Most folk in my area are interested in cloth and all that goes with it.

well we had to move so now we're closer to tupelo, ms...
not far from where we were before but still closer to that new area. i dont think too many people here are crunchy...when ds did have dipes that fit and wore them out I got weird looks...even from the old folks. and well my dd...we got really weird looks with but hey she's 2...and not potty trained...she's stubborn...as her sister is...she's 4 and still has accidents at night so we take precautions...

it's okay for people to think you're a freak but well me...I've never cared too much what people think of me or my family

I don't live in Mississippi anymore, but I graduated from Ole Miss (hence the username). My husband went to State, and my ILs live in Long Beach, so we're on the Coast a lot.

I can't imagine there's a lot of CDing going on in MS! ;)

I'm in Hattiesburg. We have a crunchy underground here, you just have to know where to look.
To the PP...I grew up in Meridian, and I visit often.

And for anyone concerned with the vaccination issue in MS, there are frequent meetings of the vax options group here and in Jackson. PM me for info.
Let's keep this thread going, I know there are more MS mamas on DS!

ommelissa--I belong to that meetup group! I haven't made a meeting here in Jackson, yet, but I hope to next time. All my friends know I'm a bit "crunchy" hehe.

I was born and (sorta) raised in MS. I was always looked down upon or labeled a freak for all the "weird" things I did. I'm happy to hear there are some mamas on here that aren't stuck in the Middle Ages! lol
Good luck to all of you connecting.
I'm in Baton Rouge for the next few years for school. I visit Bay St. Louis periodically to see the parents. And, it's always, "wow, you're STILL breastfeeding??, you're still cloth diapering??" and my favorite situations when family tries to give him soda or chocolate or candy or offer meat meals...I'm depriving him by not letting him eat meat. Haha haha!

Anyway, MS has a very weird place in my heart. I've only begun to see the beauty in it as an adult, but it's not for me. :lostit:

Hi, I would be up for a playdate. I have three little ones, and besides church we really don't know many people. I am originally from Maryland. So, let me know if you want to get together.

I'm in Columbus, MS, and would love to meet up with any other cloth diapering, extended breast feeding mamas in the Columbus, Starkville, GTR area. Most of my friends think I'm a little goofy for switching to cloth and all my other granola-style parenting techniques. PM me if you're in the area!

i've joined the group and get notices but haven't gone to the meetings yet. i have a baby who is about to be a year old but who is VERY ATTACHED hehe. it is hard for me to leave her with anyone (well hard on THEM). :giggle2:

i have Dr. Sears book, The Vaccine Book which helped me come up with a delayed vaccination schedule for my pediatrician. instead of my dd getting 4-6 shots at one time, she gets one or two at a time and they are spaced out more.

i love talking about this stuff so shoot me a PM if you wanna chat! i'm in the jackson area, too. :giggle:

Hi - I just signed up and I'm from the Columbus area. I've decided to try CD with my 4 month old son and I'm just getting started with it. I have a 3 year old son as well who has not used CD and I'm working on Potty Training him. Long story short - I had thought about CD with my oldest, but he was born with multiple birth defects and has a digestive disorder so it didn't work out. He's also developmentally delayed so his potty training is taking quite a long time. I've bought the cloth training pants to use because I think it would help, but the digestive disorder makes using them tough so most of the time I stick with disposable pull-ups.
Anyway, since everything seems fine with my 4 month old (no hint of the same digestive problems) I've decided to go ahead and try to make the transition to CD since I think it's better for both the environment and my baby :)
I look forward to chatting with you and hope I can get some helpful hints.

Hi, jebb!

Welcome to the wonderful world of CD! It is addictive--watch out! Oh I wish I had an infant sometimes cause the dipes are so stinkin' cute!

I recommend getting one of several kinds of dipes until you figure out what you like--rather than buying a huge bundle of g-diapers or bumgenius , etc.

PM me anytime if you need anything at all. =-)

I'm in Mississippi too...Woolmarket (Biloxi) to be exact. I am new to CDing. In fact, I'm waiting for my first shipment of CD to arrive. Not too sure how I'm going to like it, but I want to give it a go and see. I don't know a single person here who CD. I was born and raised in Mississippi (Picayune), & it has always seemed that MS is a little behind the curve on most things!
