A universal remote for the TV? Does your hospital not provide you with this?

My hospital has those stupid buttons on the bed or on the hand held thingy that you can only go up or down with the channels and if you pass the channel you want or want to turn the TV off you have to go through all the channels. Drives me crazy!! When I was admitted for pneumonia back in October the nurse clued me in to this trick and I called my BFF and made him go to Radio Shack and buy me one :giggle2:

Wow, I was thinking it was too early to start packing! I was really anxious, but thought people would think I'm crazy! Glad to know I'm not the only one contemplating it! I packed too much last time, so I'll have to narrow it down this go round.

I hardly used anything that I packed for when I had my daughter. I haven't even thought about packing yet. I'm still in denial that I'll be having another baby in about 7 weeks time. ;)
But I think I should start thinking about it.
Off the top of my head my list is:
Undies
Nursing bra
Breast pads
Socks
Lounge pants
Button down pajama shirt
Toiletries
Possibly a robe
Book
Baby coming home outfit
My own outfit for coming home
I think that is it, but I'm sure once I start packing I'll think of anything else I might need. Thank goodness we live very close to the hospital so if I forget something my hubby can run home to get it... Well, after I deliver that is.

My bag is packed, and it's pretty close to what AliKat listed. The only additional items I have are makeup (which I hardly ever wear, but there tends to be a lot of picture-taking time while in the hospital), a note to remember the camera, and some Gatorade (I always shake so violently after events with a lot of fluid loss, and this fixes it right up - I don't know why the hospital doesn't have it on hand).

My list is pretty close to what everyone else has, but I have a few extra things, too. For instance, the baby book so we can get the little foot prints when they do the birth certificate. I always take my own shampoo, toothpaste/toothbrush, deodorant, Q-tips, etc. I also be sure to pack more underwear than I think I'll need because there are always accidents!
I haven't started packing my bag, yet, but have made the list and am beginning to gather things. Hubby won't let me pack, yet...I think it scares him for me to get packing already. :giggle: We're supposed to be moving soon, though, so I'll pack my hospital bag at the same time and then just leave it in the van so we're ready to go.

My major kudo for this week was I finally finished my packing.. at 36.5 weeks! I've been working on it for a long time. :goodvibes:
The infant car seat is in the car..
A few things I added to my bag that nobody mentioned (I think):
-Two shirts, a pr of shorts, swim trunks, socks and underwear for DH
-A list of family/friends phone numbers in case we want to call anyone from in room with our cheaper phone card codes written down on the same paper
-I skipped my cloth dipes as they are too much to haul around but I did pack several wool outfits and other baby outfit luxeries. (:
-My boppy pillow and my pillow
-My Medela breast pump so I don't have to worry about being without or using hospitals (happened last time)
- Some juice boxes and light snacks for me & DH
-a separate backpack for each of my kiddos with dollar store notebooks, pens, cars, disposeable cameras, dollies, puzzles, snacks, etc. in case they have to come to the hospital with us initially
-Several cozy jammies and non gown sleeping clothes for me this time that are nursing friendly

I'd really like to wait until I start having contractions to pack anything just because it will be a nice distraction, but at the same time I'm nervous that my contractions will come and shortly thereafter I'll need to get to the hospital quickly. My labor and delivery with my daughter was not long at all and my midwife keeps reminding me that the second one might be even faster.
