to start the every two week visits??? lol...

i have pros and cons about it.

since my OB is 25 miles away.. = more gas
have to find sitter for gage more often. Not really that big of a problem

i get to get out of the house more :yay:
talk to adults :yay:
:giggle::blush: i get a couple hours away from Gage and if planned right i can eat lunch with DH>

I have had exactly 1 OB appointment the entire pregnancy (and one U/S), and will most likely not have another. But, that's because I am having a mostly unassisted pregnancy. =)

I love getting out of the house, too. I have 3 kids that drive me crazy all day, and hubby is commuting to work in another state, so we only see him on the weekends... So, we go to the park/library/etc as often as we can. I am really uncomfortable leaving my kids with someone else, even family.

my DD is in school though the day , which is bitter sweet... lol.. she's not here all day which i miss her, but then again.. lol she's not here.. and DS is 22 months and he is very much 22 months old..lol.. i NEVER thought i would look forward to going to the DR. but it's more of just getting out og the house at this point. lol

I'm excited for it to start and can't wait. This pregnancy has flown by up to this point and I can't believe I'm almost up to the 2 week visits already!

I am like you. My midwife is kinda far (about 35 miles) and gas is a PITA right now.
But, I am looking forward to it. Even though I take DD with me to my appts. It's nice to get out, etc..

I'm excited about it. It's like the final countdown. I just dread that i'll get the partner b/c i have it set up now that i only have the female ob and i'm afraid that this might mess it up. There is something about male ob's that i find creapy.

Kind of neutral on it really. I tried to convince my ob to wait 4 more weeks then start the 2 week thing, she agreed to 3 weeks. So, I go next week instead of this and then every 2 weeks. Her office is like 3 miles away so no biggie. I schedule for Tuesdays or Thursdays so I only have to bring Miss Lilly. That's hard enough but not too much trouble. I get out enough (remember I have a teen, a kindergartner, a preschooler and a toddler) so that's not a bonus really. Hearing my little man's heartbeat is thoguh. I get excited once the 1 week appts start.

im excited. i really like my OB (who is a male) and is awesome. he has a wife and a l.o. as well. im on my 2 week schedule now, so i go wednesday. and then 2 weeks later, and then i start the weeklys.... this is my first baby, and i stay at home all day by myself for the most part so im looking foward to getting out too. i scheduled my appts on DHs days off so he can go to. my OB looked confused that for the last two he wasnt there. hes used to seeing both of us, and i think he got worried something was "wrong at home" because he asked if everything was alright. i had to tell him DH got a new job.haha. dh is excited because he is the one who asks all the questions usually and he gets really excited to hear the heartbeat and etc. he finds it comforting.:)

Not really. My midwife is 65 or so miles away and it really eats gas. Not to mention I'd rather personally UP (unassisted pregnancy) and am just going to appease DH, who is also ironically starting to think that going is a little pointless.

When do the 2 weeks appts. start? I am new at this, so I don't mean to sound naiive, but I haven't even thought about it.

Holy cow! Is it really time to start that already? I still have to do the glucose test :giggle: I promised my OB I would get it done by tomorrow, so I guess that will be our fun outing for the day :yuck:

My OB is also 30+ miles away, but it's worth it b/c I really like him. He's been my OB for all three now. I'm hoping he will let me do the every 3 week thing since this is my third and so far everything looks good. I have super low b/p, measuring exact, gaining like a cow (as always), so assuming no GD, I think I should be okay waiting longer in between. Don't you? If I were closer it wouldn't be such a big deal, but that's a long way to go and I have to get a sitter for both kids (he's actually fine w/ me bringing them, but they drive me nuts there)

I hadn't really given it much thought actually. I never can remember when they start that. Appt's are so uneventful I'm just counting down to c/sec day, July 18.

ShayneLeMaster

typically, they start in the 7th month..but doesnt have to be exact....

im counting down days to my sched.c/s too.. lol my ACTUAL due date is supposed to be july 4th.. by my dates which according to Dr.s dates they say the 11th.. but my c/s is right around the 4th havent decided yet.

Don't really care. It's more to schedule around for me, as it's a 45 minute drive and I have to work around my off days. We did three weeks for this next one, and I think I'll see if I can continue that. I feel fine and really trust my own body/intuition. It's just nice to think--8-12 weeks until we meet this little one!

i spaced mine out to 3 weeks, i thought that was good enough. i like going to the doc/midwifes but i hate using a lot of gas, and paying the copays

Well I still have my 28 and 32 wk appts then go for 34wk then at the 36 they do a home visit then weekly so I still have a ways to go. I told DH that he didn't have to go to the next 2 b/c I'd be meeting w/ another mother for those appts and he was kinds upset. I told him that after that I'd schedual them so he could go. I usually take the boys w/ me b/c it is like a play date for them. They play w/ the mw's son and then the other woman has a son as well. I'm excited that we can start meeting outside and they can play on her playground this next time!

With my first 2 pregnancies it was nice b/c my MIL always went w/ me if DH couldn't and we'd always go out to eat someplace nice. (Red Lobster, Olive Garden) but now she's w/ my FIL in Arkansas and doesn't know about the HB yet...

My mw is only 15min away. And she has children my children's ages (who are ALSO homeschooled!). And it's great to chat with her:)
However, she believes that the "additional" visits are unnecessary. So we stick with every 4wks the whole way. She will come to my house (for the test drive, see how to get here, how long it takes, basic traffic, where I plan to be laboring, etc) about 2-3 wks before I'm due. Then she'll come for the birth, of course.
IF I (heaven forbid!!!!!!) go over AGAIN, then she'll see me weekly after my due date.

I went to my appt. this week for the GD test, and the two week appts start now! I don't mind b/c I like my doc. Also, now that I really think about it, considering what just happened to my sister, it is reassuring.

I didn't remember that we started going every 2 weeks this soon!!! I've already been going every 2 weeks (every 4 to OB and every 4 to perinatologist but they stagger it so I'm never more than 2 weeks without being seen) so I guess then it will be almost every week. Hectic times with a 2 year old who has no patience...... we are definitely approaching home plate!! :)

Well for me it will make it crazy busy. I am seeing an OB (to have back up care as a just in case and so insurance will cover something. Otherwise they wouldnt cover my labs nothing) and I see my midwife for our homebirth so I will be going in every week. It will be crazy and gas oh my both are about 20 min away so I dunno. I look forward to it because it means Im getting close yet dont want to because of the gas and time. I do enjoy getting to get away from the kiddos though :giggle2:

I took him to ONE OB appt. by myself and I will not do that again. Big mistake. He's 23 months and has ZERO patience. He gets bored so fast. Te perinatologist actually won't let you bring other kids unless you have someone else with you to watch them since they mostly do stuff like u/s and NST's and stuff where you have to be kind of still. I honestly don't know what I'm going to do when I end up going every week here soon. I guess DF'll be taking some time off work. :giggle:

I hate having to go in when it's really not that needed. I mean, if I didn't feel the baby regularly or was feeling anything out of the norm than yea but I'm so tired and sluggish right now that driving a half hour each way, waiting a half hour past my appt time for a ten minute visit and then driving back home is not my idea of a good time.

My visits are every other week now too. I feel like I have alot to catch up on, as I switched to my midwife at around 23 weeks, so I've been there only 3 times. I'm so glad I made the switch. I think my doula is coming to my next week, tuesday, to discuss the birth plan. Yay!

ETA - Yup, bringing my 19 month old to the appts is a nightmare. I have to, I have no one to watch him although this week my inlaws are here so I hope they will stay to watch him. It's really hard to deal with him trying to go through the HazMat containers while I'm laying on the table... yikes.

This is another reason I love my MW. My appts start when I arrive and end when I am done. We are doing centering appointments now and they are so much fun. My MW has a DS a month older than my ds2 and then her assistant has 2 girls and the other girl that meets with us has a ds so they all go outside with her oldest dd to play. It is like a playdate at the same time. DS's usually stay in and she lets ds1 find the HB and they get to be part of the appointment. I also don't feel like it is a waste to go see her b/c like I said we are doing classes and discuss getting the baby in position, nutrition, and excercise- last time we discussed fears and how our dh's felt about hb, etc.
I go tommorow morning and then start every 2 weeks- woohoo!
