The title says it all! Do you have names picked out? Do you share them before the baby gets here? I thought it would be fun to see where everyone else is at with the name game!
We have named our little girl Lucy Adele and I am so excited about it!!!:goodvibes:

We don't know what we are having :), so have to do both a girl and boy list ... some of the ones high on my list are

Ava
Addison
Lauren

Joshua
Noah
Connor

All you second/third/fourth/etc time mamas - how in the world do you narrow down the names AND come up with one BOTH mom and dad like?!?! We have still have lots of time to figure it out but its a HUGE decision!!

In my experience it's just one of those things, you talk and talk and talk and eventually a name ou both love pops out! I think the hardest part is keeping yourself open to your DHs ideas and making sure that he is open to yours, I know sometimes it can be a pride thing for us! Good luck, you have a lovely list of names to at least start from!

that is the issue we are having. dd was easy- hubby liked asha but i didnt so i added lyn. ashlyn simple... middle name would be my grandmothers.... ds- we were gonna used edward for the middle name no matter what we came up with for the first because thats dh's grandfather's name. alex- we wanted something short and easy to say( my family has a HECK of time saying ashlyn... for some strange reason...) so alex it was. i am sooooooooooo stuck on names for this bean.. i hope to God i dont get preggo again cuz the name issue is making me crazy!

Well names are crazy here too I like

Leah Renee
Erin Renee
Nia ?

Ethan Douglas
?

But we aren't sure about these at all. I'm so glad that we still have 1/2 the pg to decide

I have a whole list somewhere of names that are nice, but I don't even know if they are even something that we want to name our baby. Is sure hope that when the baby comes we'll have a name picked out. It's so hard. Even though we had picked out our DS's name I still wasn't sure about it until he was born. Then I knew his name fit. But we really only had one boys name picked out so it worked good.

I like names that are more traditional, you know actually able to find them on a pencil.

AnnaG01
04-22-2008, 07:39 PM
Yup, his name is Payton, it was going to be Payton Alexis for a girl, and Payton Maddox for a boy, I like GN names, so it's easier to name my babies! There is less choices and often I'd name my son or daughter the same.

This one would have been Cash Ryan, but we found out it's a girl so that's not going to work. DH and I can't settle on any girl names, he wants really common ones, and I don't. He wants portuguese names, but not too ethnic-he is hard to please!

Cash is a way cute name! DH didn't really like it, though.

So far, we're going for Silas Cohen, but have had a name (Roman Wells) that was picked out for my last pregnancy and it keeps popping up again. We'll see!

We like:

Ella
Elle
Sophie
and believe it or not, Cassiopeia (aka Cassi)

If it's a boy, he'll be Dominic after me and his grandfather.

They said today its a girl :) And we was looking for something to go with are backgrounds. So with it being a girl we wanted something Polish for my background. And if it wouldve been a boy we wanted something German or Irish and his name wouldve been Liam Eugene.

But the lil girls name is going to be Anya Rose.

We've announced that our little girl will be Lily Marie. My DS is Landon, so we'll have Landon and Lily. It is not on purpose naming them both starting with an "L", but I do like the sound of it. I'm getting used to the name already! We are early deciders- both pregnancies we've had our boy and girl names picked by 3 months, so after the U/S we announce the sex and name at the same time. :goodvibes:

This is a fun thread. All of the names are sweet. If we have a girl she will be Eden Delano and if he is a boy he will be O'Rion Leif. I really wanted O'Rion Quinn but hubby wouldn't go for it/

HAHAHA - - yeesss... we're having that issue too. Basically, we're down to... um... nothing. We have Simon (3 years) and Audrey (14 mon) and it seems like the name for the baby on the way has to somewhat "GO" with his brother and sister's name... which is weird but oddly true.

So far the only one we "sort of" both like is Caleb.

I like Alex... but dh isn't in love with it.

We don't know what we are having so trying to come up with 2 names is being diffcult.
If it is a girl it will be ____ Anne and if it is a boy it will be ____ Providence. Now to come up with first names!

This is our current likes

Girl: Riley Anne (middle name not 100% sure)

Boy: Ethan Douglas

(Douglas is DH's middle name and though we didn't use it for DS , this time DH would like to use it. The reason we didn't use it for DS was that our nephew has Douglas as a middle name and we weren't so sure about recycling names in the family)

All the names we pick get shot down by family members. I think from now on I'm just going to keep them to myself (and DH) until she arrives in Sept. DD and DS are also weighing in on the issue--and they tend to pick names of cartoon characters. Hmmmm...not my 1st choice!

That's how we feel! Opinions are like a-holes, and i don't wanna smell yours. I told DW, if you find a name YOU like, keep it to yourself because otherwise people will talk down on it and make you think twice. Second opinions can be good, but it's YOUR baby why should you have others influence you against a name?! Our neighbors just named their little girl Avery, which is a beautiful name! But the father in law made them think twice when he said "Ovary?" Kids/people are cruel, they are going to make fun of a person regardless of what their name is.. This alone shouldn't pull one out of the race, unless it's too obvious, like Raggot, or Ferry :p

We're still leaning toward Miakoda Ela, or Miakoda Nova.

I love the name Lucy, so simple and cute for a little girl.

We were hoping for a girl after two boys so we had a girl name picked out, which was Layla Chanelle, but can't quite come up with another boy name. The only one we can agree on is Jacob Elijah, but I don't really LOVE it!

We have decided not to tell anyone the names. Dh's mom is going through a mid-life something (early dementia) and has decided that she wants us to name him after the baby she miscarried 20 years ago along with the name of her late brother. So it would be Steve Phillip or Phillip Steve, not exactly lovin that either. I just don't have the heart to tell her no, I feel bad for what she's going through. So we decided that she won't know until he's born.

The name thing is driving me crazy too. It seems like everyone wants to know our name ideas, but then they have something negative to say (i.e. my mom begged to know which names we liked; I finally told her, and she says, "no, I don't really like that.") Ha!! So now we're deciding not to tell anyone else in the family because we're not going for their approval--and everyone seems to have such a strong opinion about OUR baby's name. We're having a girl, and our top runners at the time are
Alice or Zoe
We haven't even started trying to come up with middle names yet.

We've never told anyone our names that we like. There are too many pg women that we know and plus it's really no ones business anyway. I think it's hard enough to try and figure things out with two people let alone everyone else. We "think" we have names picked out, but DH said the other day I didn't know we choose " ____ " for a girl. So who know if we are even remotely close to choosing.

We are having such a hard time with names!! DH and I don't really agree at all on boy names. I like traditional, DH likes unusual. Our first DS didn't have a name for days until I finally just gave in and let DH name him. I like his name now because it of course suits him and he is my beautiful little boy, but it's not a name I ever would of picked myself. This little guy in probably gonna be nameless for days too.

well, thanks to someone else on diaperswappers who is preggo as well (can't remember who). I'm totally stuck on...

Sicily Rose

I think that's it. Funny too, because our DS is Giovanni and I swore if I ever got a girl her name would be strongly irish, but alas my top irish name, Keira, has become quite popular lately, so much so that my sister beat me to the punch and named her daughter, Kira (not how I would have spelled it, but same pronounciation). So I was stuck, when Sicily just came across in front of me and I can't get past it.

Good Topic!! This is my 4th (3rd girl) and I thought it would be easy but it seems harder since all the names I like I used already. I was so dead set on having a boy but we found it she is not. This process has been even harder because my DH is deployed to Iraq so our 15 min phone calls are limited to what our other 3 children are doing and all that good stuff. He wont be home until shes about 4 months old so Im thinking:headscratch: its all on me for the name.
Can anyone give me an honest opinion on
Irelyn/Irelynn (not sure which spelling) or Brooklyn
My other 2 are Madelyn Grace and Aislynn Marie so I thought it would be cute if she matched but at the same time it might be to much...ughhh im frustrated:banghead: .

I vote for Brooklyn! Irelyn sounds really old especially compared to your other childrens names. Brooklyn can also have a cute nickname too if you wanted to nicknames where as Irelyn can't. Just my 2 cents! I like unique names. We are naming this one Anjali Catya pronounced On Juh Lee Cot EE Uh :)

Thanks Anjali is actually an Indian name from India. A friend of mine has a daughter named that and I always told her I would use it if I ever had a girl and we are so I have to use it! :) Catya is Russian and my husband is Ukranian and prefers Russian names. Since we do A.C.L for all our childrens names it had to be a C name and after looking forever for a middle name to go with her first name I seen Moment of Truth and the lady on there was named Catia which is said the same way at Catya only in the car making business which is what my husband does its also a name for a computer program but its said differently. So DH insisted we change the I to a Y and it would be more Russian that way too! So thats how she got her name lol

When I named my middle daughter (madelyn) I didnt know any..that is until we got to the playground.lol!! Its funny how the name dosent seem that popular until you name your child and then all of a sudden its everywhere. As for the name Irelynn, I have a friend who named her daughter Ireland and I always liked it then I saw the baby story with the multiples and one of the girls was Irelynn. Its so cute.

Still pretty new here, but I love this topic, and hearing what everyone has in mind!
DH and I are both very traditional and family oriented in our name choices- we have had names picked out since very early in the pregnancy. We are not finding out the gender, so we have two names picked out:
For a boy: Gregory Paul (Gregory is my dad's middle name and Paul is DH's dad's first name, and DH's middle name)
For a girl: Elizabeth Louise (Elizabeth is my middle name, and my DH's sister's name, and Louise is my mom's middle name)
My mom hates her middle name, and doesn't want us to use the name Louise, but we are not changing the names, she will just have to deal with it!

VioletsMom
07-20-2008, 03:52 PM
Our little girl is going to be Violet Emelee which is after both of her maternal grandmothers. Emelee is actually my grandmother's middle name (Esther was her first name and we liked Emelee better).

Names ... well are name system is:

Girl -- one syllable first names w/ longer middle names; that have a spiritual meaning that is a blessing to them. My daughter's names are: Grace Katheryn, Ann Elizabeth, Dawn Elaina, Rose Olivia, Joy Caroline, & Jane Victoria.

Boy -- longer names that have a one syllable nick-name; that have a spiritual meaning that is a blessing. My son's names are Gabriel (Gabe) Simon; and Michael (Mike) Brian.

So ... baby #9 is another girl and her name will be: Belle Kristine.

Last time we picked the name but didn't tell anyone. This time everyone knew our choices because they were our second choice last time. We don't know that sex this time so we have Kali Lynn for a girl (K.L. were the initials of my late aunt) and Cooper Isaac for a boy.

Well after much discussion I can say we have names picked out. There is still a little bit of work needed but we are so close. For a girl it will be Ryleigh Deanne and if it's a boy Ethan Douglas or Ethan Carter. Douglas is DH's middle name (and though it's not my fav he really would like to use it). But then Dh say what about Carter Douglas? So then again maybe we aren't anywhere near ready LOL :)

Oh man, we are so stuck!
This is our 4th one and we alway have a really hard time picking a name. DD#1 we decided on while I was in labor, DD#2 was a few hours old when we decided and DD#3 was already a day old before she had an official name! With each girl we always agreed on a boys name right away, but maybe it was so easy b/c we never had to commit to it, but now that we do, we can't agree!

DH keeps picking these names that I just don't like, and the names I love, he doesn't... I was really hoping that we'd finally be able to have a name so we can call him something different than "Little One" ...

RIght now, I'm really stuck on the name Xavier. DH currently likes Isaac, but it ends in a hard sound and so does out last name, so it sounds aweful together, like your spitting... I need a smoother more flowy name... And I'm so picky about what kind of name! We're Catholic and really into our faith and all our kids names have really significant meanings, so I need to find a strong name, the flows and itsn't too common...

There has to be one out there, right?

Why can't kids come w/ name tags....

We don't tell people we know for the same reasons the others said- I don't want to hear others' opinions, except for my mom and my sisters (mostly because they are kind of like my voices of reason and if they don't like it I either realize I don't or I ignore them, but it doesn't cause problems). But I'm fine saying it on here.

I was SOOO hoping this one was going to be a girl because I have THREE more girl names picked out but didn't like ANY boy names (girl names- Layla, Miley, and Lauren). Then we found out... a boy. As for our process, it's just like the others said. You keep bouncing ideas off each other until something just feels right for both of you. Last time we had settled on one name, but at the last minute both decided we didn't like it, so we were going through names again and both decided we liked Isabel (and the nickname Izzy).

The story with this name is a little funny. A LONG time ago we were home and had gone out with some family and, well, I was a little drunk (probably more than a little). When I got home I was laying on the couch watching Daniel Steele's "Daddy" on Lifetime (and I very seldom watch lifetime), which stars a very very young Ben Affleck, whose character's name was Oliver. In my stupor I was like "that's it! That's what I will name my first son." I told DH and he hated it. I brought it up again with this pregnancy when we found out it was a boy and he was like "you know, I kind of like it now." And it sounds good with Izzy- Izzy and Ollie. So stupid, but it is important to me that names sound good together, but I didn't want to have them all start with the same letter or anything.

Moral of the story- our baby will (probably, I reserve the right to change my mind!) Oliver Norden

Oh man. My husband and I had sooo much trouble deciding on a name. We finally opted to let them tell us at the last ultrasound if it was a boy or girl to help us out here... BOY!

We've chosen Owen Mathew.
I protested about the spelling (one of his good friends had one T) until finding out it's a common spelling in other countries (Wales & Australia I think?).

The fun part: We came up with so many ridiculous names along the way... we finally decided to choose one that sounded silly but believable to tell ALL our friends and family. Owen FARMER. It's been so much fun hearing everyone's remarks. The biggest shock is how polite everyone's been about it except my sister who knows she can tell me off haha.

Weird thing about the gender is that with my daughter, all her father & I could decided on was a girl's name. With this lil guy, all my hubby & I could get close to deciding on were the boy's names. Hmmm....

After deciding and changing my mind a million times I think we finally we decided on Mikaela for our DD. Brooklyn and Irelyn were to much like my other 2 DD's who are Madelyn and Aislynn so we wanted something different.
Now I have to think of a middle name...i like something short and sweet, if anyone has ideas please feel free to offer them up..lol
Hopefully I dont change my mind in a couple of days, that seems to be my trend with this one.:banghead:

We had a name picked out for our son, then it turned out she was a daughter.

I really wanted to name her after my great great-grandmother, Caledonia. It means Scottland in Scottish (and McDaniel is Scottish), but my DH hates it. I've tried to insist that it we'll all call her Calie, but to no avail.

We keep telling everyone it's Trixie just to get them off our backs. That way she could be a teen detective "Trixie finds a clue..." Now, after all the kidding we kind of like Trixie. However, it also comes up with less cute associations so it's out.

At least we know the middle name - and it's FIRM!!! My middle name, my mom's middle name, my grandmothers's name and my great-grandmother's name are all Rose.

I just don't want it to be tooooo popular since I HATED being one of a billion Jennifers.

We had a really hard time picking out a boy name, but finally settled on one about a week before our bfp. We've had our girl name picked out for 5 years. It will be Hannah Grace, or Judah William. Grace was my great-grandmoher's middle name, and William was DH's older brother who died. We like Hebrew names for our kids' first names for middle names, girls have virtues and boys have family members. So Abigail Hope, Benjamin Scott, Samuel Timothy, and either Hannah Grace or Judah William. I love it!

We had a girl name picked out pretty quickly, but wouldn't you know we're having a boy. LOL!

For a girl it was going to be Adelina Clair.

Since it's a boy, he's Simon Nathaniel :)

That's beautiful. I love Simon and Nathaniel. When we were picking boy names (which I was SURE we were going to have until we learned she's a girl) Nathaniel came up. We love "Nate". However, Nathaniel McDaniel???:giggle2: I think I'll have to write a children's story called The Adventures of Nathiel McDaniel and it can go up against Amelia Bedelia's (sp?) hilarious ones.

I wanted to put Adelina on our list but my sister pitched a fit. She's not pregnant, mind you, and probably won't be for at least a couple of years, but she already decided that Adalaide and any such derivations (Adelina, Adalene etc) would be ONE of her top choices. Since she'd mentioned Adalaide to me early on she feels she's claimed it!

She also said if I chose to have my bridesmaids wear burgandy, wine or any such color dresses she'd refuse to be my maid of honor. Now I'm pretty sure I should have picked maroon colored dresses.

Still, since I don't need any extra family drama (our family absolutely DRIPs with it) - it's off our list.

Well our names are Ryleigh Deanne and Ethan Douglas. Now to wait and see what SIL is going to have (she's due monday) If any of our names are taken I guess we'll be back to square one. I do have a cousin that is currently due right now as well, but I don't think that their choices will make a difference on our choices. It seems there is always a family member that is pg at the same time as me and I'm usually at the end of the pack. So we are playing the waiting game.

*Update* BIL and SIL just had a girl and they named her Jessica so our names are "safe"

This is my first time posting outside of FSOT. We've had a lot of trouble with names, but finally have it down to two.

Amelia or Arawyn. Middle names are still up in the air. Could be Chrystal or Erin.

We're having our third girl - final child. If we had a boy, he would have been Ronan.
