For those of you who do take the ultrasounds your doctor orders and aren't high risk, how many have you had? I only had one at about 20 weeks and she was breech then and sure feels breech still. I am having a c-section (medically necessary) and hope that my doc will still allow me to have another U/S before this pregnancy is done. The one U/S I had the tech didn't even give me any pics so I'm a little bummed.

I have had 4 this time due to being higher risk, but my last pregnancy I was not and I had two. One for dating at 8 weeks and one at 20 weeks. :goodvibes:

man! Since I've only had 1 I may ask my doc for a 2nd so I can at least have photos to treasure. My dd has pics of her U/S on her wall in her room in a frame. I want to do the same for this one :(

i've had one and i'm at around 27 1/2 weeks pregnant. I had the 20 week one and everything is going fine so they have no reason to give me another one.

With my daughter I had 3. The first was because I had no idea of the date (got photos), second was at the regular 20 weeks (got photos), the third was to confirm she was not breach (no photos). My current due in Aug. ... 4 so far (3 photo ops). No more scheduled.

Maybe if my OB cant schedule another one I will just ask DH to get a 3/4 d so I have somethings to treasure in her baby book and for her room.

i had three as well and im in my 30th week. i had one in my OBs office on the "lesser" machine to get an idea of how far along because i had no idea (i was nearly 10 weeks.) but then my health advisor who i met earlier in the day than my OB used the little wheel thing to estimate from my last period when the baby was due and she put me down about 3 weeks ahead of where i actually was. this paperwork ended up getting sent to the actual ultrasound clinic even though my OB had a more accurate guess because of measuring me and US.
the clinic called independently to schedule the US on the better machine they had. which was supposed to be my 20wk one. but after looking the technician felt that the baby was too small (and scared us before explaining himself fully) and then we collectively figured out the wrong EDD had been sent. so then they scheduled me again for 3 weeks later, because that was when they really wanted to see me due to the anatomical exam of the baby/measurements are better then, etc. plus they could indicate gender.
so i went in for my 20 wk one and found out it was a girl pretty much first thing. i got pictures of all three. i dont have another one scheduled. my OB has been at this for 12+ years or so, and he is going to try and tell her position by touch. right now we know she hasnt turned...

I had one at 11 weeks for dating and to check twins/single. Twins run heavy in both our families, and I had been on birth control until 2 weeks before I got pregnant.
I had a second one at 21 weeks for gender and autonomy scans. I don't think I'll get any more, but it's not up to me to decide!

I had one at 11 weeks and one at 20 weeks. Typically insurances will only pay for one. My husband was sad because our pics didn't turn out at all. So for x-mas we went and had a 3D/4D ultrasound done and it was AWESOME! It was at about 27 weeks! Very cool, I would recommend this before I'd do the 2D because you still might not get pics that will turn out. We got about 20 pics, a cd with pics and a dvd. It was a firstviewultrasound.com.
Hope this helps! It cost around 200-250.00 but it was unbelievable. Insurance won't cover it because it really doesn't tell them anymore medically about the baby. Look at it this way, our insurance only covered one ultrasound the other was 300.00 for the 2D and the 3D/4D was less than that!

I've had 4 - 1 for dating, 1 because I had really bad cramps at the beginning and was kind of freaking out, 1 for the 12 week nuchal fold test and 1 at 20 weeks for the level II. I'm done!

1st baby- 2 ultrasounds. One at 18 weeks and one at 41 weeks.
2nd baby-2 ultra sounds. 18 weeks and 24 weeks because they found a fleck(sp?) in the baby's heart which ended up correcting itself
3rd baby- 2 ultrasounds. One at what we thought was 12 weeks because they couldn't find a heartbeat and then again at 18 weeks
4th baby-1 ultrasound. :)

Just the 20 week one here. I don't expect another.
With my first we had a second u/s at 41 weeks to determine fluid levels since he was overdue. My second I had a second u/s at about 30 weeks or so, but it was for me, not him. They needed to check out some of my organs (non pg related) and the tech was nice enough to "peek" at the baby for me.

With DS (standard OB care) I had 2... one for dating at 7weeks, and the 20 weeker. We also opted to get a 4d at 26 weeks.
This time around (HBMW care), I had one in the ER at 14 weeks because the nurse didn't know how to find a HB with a doppler (and it was ME sick, not baby... ugh...)...
Then I had another at 20 weeks just b/c DH wanted to know the gender and wanted the reassurance of a fetal anomaly scan.
When it showed choroid plexus cysts, they recommended a follow-up, which freaked DH out, so we went for a follow-up at 28 weeks.
I did not want ANY of these, and none of them were necessary. The last one was the worst because it was 45+ minutes of exposure which I was *NOT* comfortable with. DH regrets it also because he freaked out at 20 weeks when they recommended a follow-up... and when we got THIS report, it said "Hey, everything's normal... we recommend a follow up"... yeah... not doing that again.
So, I got three this time. I'd give you all three if I could :D

With my first I was not high risk. I got 1 and would've only had that one but then I got in a car accident and the hospital got a quick peak to make sure he was ok.
With my 2nd I was VERY high risk. I got 1 at 12 week (date check), 1 at 18 weeks then had 1 at 20 weeks and there it began. From 20 weeks until I delivered I had 2 a week. Talk about a ton of pics!
With my 3rd I had one at 12 weeks (date check), 1 at 18 weeks, 1 at 22 weeks and a final one at 34ish weeks.
This time I had one at 12 weeks (date check) and another at 15 weeks as they couldn't find a heartbeat, the big one at 19 weeks and am planning 1 more right at the end (34-36 weeks) to make sure that babe hangs in there and flips (although he's been down for a while now).
I guess I get more than most. My doc likes the 12 week date one so everyone gets those. Then it would normally just be the 20 week one. My babes like to freak the docs out right at the end so that's why we check once more then. Plus dh has spina bifida and a cleft lip/palate and those need to be rechecked.

I'm not having any this time but with DD I had a lot even though I was low risk.
8 weeks- had one in office for dates even though I knew exactly how far along I was :headscratch:
16 weeks- had one because I was in a minor car accident
20 weeks- regular u/s
24 weeks- because dd's position was funny in the 20 week and they couldn't see stuff
and I had one near the end in the mws office really quick because they wanted to be sure she was vertex.

I've had a few this time.
One at 6 weeks for some spotting I had.
Another at 7 weeks for a follow up of said spotting - saw HB
One at 14 weeks - we were moving away and my OB at the time wanted me to have piece of mind everything was okay before we moved.
And, another at 24 weeks for entertainment purposes only.

With DD I only had the 1 at 20 weeks for gender and to check dates and baby! Even though I became high risk at 22 weeks with pregnancy induced hypertension.
With DS I have a different OB and have had 3 so far.
13 weeks because they couldnt get the heartbeat on the doppler and wanted to check dates.
20 weeks for gender
28 weeks to check growth since I had to be in the office for an hr anyways waiting for my glucose draw.
Im planning to try for a VBAC so I suspect I will have another around 38 weeks or so to check baby's size.

Before we moved back stateside, in Germany I had 3. (once a month for the first 3 months) I've had one extensive Ultrasound in the States so far and am having another one next week. So that will be a total of 5. I'm currently 28 weeks 2 days. They are doing the extensive Ultrasounds to have a clear indication of chest and heart development. I'm not High risk, but my husband has symptoms of Marfan Syndrome and there is a chance the baby could be a genetic carrier or express the condition to varying degrees. So far everything had been fine, but it could be right up until birth until we know for sure.
