My DD has the start of an ear infection, I dont want to give her antibiotics. Anything natural that can help ease the pain for her?

**Update*** Well we decided to try something natural, but, as Im loading her in the car seat I noticed she had blood running from her ear!! So much for that, called her ped and we took her in, she had a massive ear infection that had actually moved into the ear canal and ruptured her ear drum!! WHAT?? that Dr last night said she had a little fluid behind her ear, no big deal! My poor baby. I gave her some lortab liquid left over from her surgery! She is still in so much pain all she has done is sit and rock for the last hour and a half!

MOTRIN! I know it's not natural, but ear infections hurt SO bad. Me, DH, and my son all get them and without Motrin, it's truly unbearable. We tried natural and for us, it actually made us hurt worse. I don't know if we're just flukey or what. But please give her some Motrin and keep up with it for 2-3 days. Hopefully she won't need antibiotics! But the Motrin will help keep her pain level down from it at least.

I had some ear pain drops for Ds that worked really well. Similisan (sp) they were over the counter.
Or you could put a couple drops of warm olive oil in that relieves it for me.

Garlic and mullin(optional) infused olive oil has always worked for us. Put it in the ear before bed and the earache is usually gone by morning.

Breastmilk! We've only had a few ear infections at our house, but it worked every time (and one of the times was on me!). We've also used the Similasan ear drops (warmed first), then lay on side w/ affected ear facing up and cover w/ a heating pad. Make sure to keep covered if you go outside. I agree that some pain relief is probably in order, but Tylenol or Motrin won't do anything for the actual ear infection, it will just make your LO feel better while the ear is healing.

All those natural things work great - we've tried them all except breast milk & my 2 yo has a dbl ear ache right now so I might just try it! I've heard great things about ear candles, but never tried them...

I'd also suggest the garlic oil, and breastmilk:) I know that hylands also makes some ear drops.

Hope she is feeling better soon.
