so....we went to get a 3D ultrasound today. we didnt want to know the sex and we made that perfectly clear to the technician. she tried to get some good pics of the face and it wasnt working out too well, so i asked her to get some of the feet.
so she did and we just didnt pay attention to anything as she was quickly scanning back up to the face ( i can never tell what im looking at right away anyway) so then the moron tech says "i better not go down there anymore because i can DEFINATELY tell what the sex is!!'
i take that as 'its a boy, i saw a huge penis'. what do you guys think??
i dont think she would be able to easily tell that it was a girl by scanning quickly over it. im SO upset, she ruined my surprise. ive made it 29 weeks not knowing, the room is done in neutral colors, i was really looking forward to the surprise in the delivery room. ive just been crying over it all day. i think i should just go get another regular ultrasound and find out for sure now that its ruined.

I don't think that means anything. It could have been just as obvious that you're having a girl.

Yeah if the babys legs were spread wide open it could have been easy to tell either way :bighug:

i agree with prev posters... when the tech saw my baby at 20 weeks the first shot was her giving a little thumbs up:) but the second was an immediate and complete butt and thigh shot, and there was absolutely no way there was a penis there. NO WAY. they are trained to tell/look quickly as babys are squirmy ESPECIALLY when being prodded during an ultrasound. my baby had her legs crossed at ankles and knees to her chest right after the tech showed us her nether regions and she then preceded to also cover her face with her hands while her wrists were crossed right after we got a glimpse of her face. she was all folded up after being poked. they dont really like that whole process it seems so those techs are quick... he also went in for multple angles to confirm the sex and told us right off the bat he was 100% it was a girl (so i guess we will see for sure soon:)) but i saw no telltale boy parts, and daddy and my best friend were both there and neither of them saw any either as it was THAT obvious there werent any....

dont worry too much. it will still be a suprise no matter what.... in fact sometimes they have to seriously look at "boy parts" to be sure they are in fact that and not other baby parts, so i think it is just as likely they could KNOW it was a girl...

It could be either way. I could tell right away that this one was a girl before the tech even got it out ;) I yellped and told DH, "Look! No boy parts!" He started cracking up. So if the baby was in the right spot it could easy to tell either way. :hugs: I wouldn't go out and buy a bunch of blue!!

yeah it could mean anything. When we were at out ultrasound the tech was like whoa!!! That's so a girl. She was not shy at all, showing all her bits and such. Don't be down. It can obviously be anything!

I agree with the pps. With a nice clear shot, either one could be obvious to a tech. I'ld say your odds are still 50/50, and either one should be a surprise.
