...some women go into labor on their on and others have to be induced? and i don't mean induced before 40-41 weeks. i mean after the due date. i'm 41 weeks tomorrow and nothing's happening. i was induced w/ my 1st around the same time b/c nothing was happening. but yet one of my friends has had 3 kids and gone into labor ever single time...and yes, i'm SURE my dates are correct. i SO want to go on my own but b/c of my pelvic size and creeping bp, i'm giving in tomorrow. i'm very depressed about it but am more afraid of a c-sec than pit. anyway, just a general wondering...

Well, considering "term" is 38-42 weeks and a "due date" doesn't mean much, I think a lot MORE women would go into labor on their own if doctors were willing to let them get there instead of making it seem like a huge medical crisis otherwise. That said, for mamas alone, the mind is a powerful thing and definitely makes it difficult for lots of us who don't pop our babies out at 37/38 weeks. I'm pretty much the only one of my friends who went "overdue" with my first (even then, overdue was just shortly past my EDD, but when you're going by that dumb date it makes everything miserable! LOL) and so it's frustrating to not have anyone who really understands what that's like, why it was hard, and why I really hope it doesn't happen again. Yet at the same time, I wish I could just drill it into my head (no wait, it's there, but I choose not to acknowledge it! LOL) that my baby will come on his/her own time unless there's truly something preventing that, and that there's no rush. But it's soooo hard!!
