I'm a bit delayed in introducing our little girl, but we have been enjoying family time this week so I haven't been online at all to update!

Our wee princess Phoebe came into this world this past Monday at 7:50AM :baby: She was born at home after about 8 hours of labour, weighing 7 lb 10 oz and measuring 39 cm long.
Labour started around midnight and progressed quite quickly. I tried to get some sleep which was pretty much impossible, so I took a bath around 2:30 to try and relax. I stayed in the tub for about an hour and then tried to lay down in bed some more to rest. Contractions became quite strong and every 4-5 minutes around 4:30 so I knew it was time to phone the midwife and doula.
I tried to eat something after that, a banana since I figured I would need the energy, but after that I started feeling nauseous and it came right back up again shortly after.
My wonderful midwife Uta and doula Heather came around 6AM. Uta checked me and I was 6 cm dilated! The second midwife Valerie arrived soon after, and I was so glad to have her there since she is due to have her first baby in a few weeks and she gave birth to Tristan :)
Labour progressed to full dilation in the next hour (this part is kind of a blur). I tried sitting a bit on the side of the bed, walking wasn't all that comfortable, so I ended up kneeling on the floor and resting my arms on top of the bed. The pressure was getting very strong now with each contraction and then my water broke!
After that I felt the urge to push, and even though I thought this part would be easier this time around, the baby decided that she wanted to come out in a posterior position and was hung up a bit by the cord (which was really long so not an issue) so the pushing part was really difficult. After about 30-40 minutes of pushing our beautiful girl was born!
Tristan was there to see his little sister be born, since he woke up about 45 minutes before she arrived and he was quite interested by the whole thing. I thought he might be scared but he was quite enthralled by everything and very excited to see the baby :goodvibes:
The placenta delivered easily and I ended up with a few stitches but nothing major.
We are all doing well, and Phoebe is such a content little girl. I am trying to get as much rest as possible but it's not always easy with a 2 year old running around.
Breastfeeding is a challenge for me again since I have a flat nipple on one breast that is difficult to latch onto, but we are working on it and she is such a eager little nurser.
