I put in a request online for information re: adoption just over a week ago. I have not heard anything. I contacted state people a couple of days ago wondering if I had gone through the wrong channels. They told me to talk to the county. Should I send a second request, call, etc? I don't want to appear to be bugging them, but when the website says that there is a high need for adoptive parents and then I don't get a call, I don't know what to do. :)

From my experience, unless you are corresponding directly with a person, it's MUCH more efficient to call, and keep calling if necessary. Once we were assigned our worker, it was easy to ask what method of communication they preferred.

Bug away. It can take a long time to get things done, and I agree with the other person who answered that talking to a real person makes things go much more quickly. For my state (Oregon), I called a hotline and they sent me some information with a preliminary application, we sent it in, and then our certifier sent us a form letter, we called her, she came over and looked at our apartment and gave us some more applications, and that's where we're at now. Just to give you an idea of how it happened for us; other states are probably different. Just look on your states website and call any number you can find, I would say.

I made contact yesterday. I finally just called. Lo and behold, they changed their website and have no idea how it works yet or something. ;)

I hope to get my information packet in the next couple of days. Thanks everyone! :)
