I am just wondering how many people are planning a HB or how many are going the hospital route? I had my two bio sons in hospitals, but with midwives. I am not sure if I am going to do that again, or look into a HB. To be honest, I am kinda chicken:blush: I always have the "what if something goes wrong" in my mind. So what have you done/planning to do?

I am planning on being at the hospital. mostly b/c It is soooo messy. I don't want to have to clean that up.lol But the other reason is in CA it is a little tricky having a home birth.

I would love to have a HB, but sadly it will never happen! I have to many problems at the start of my pregnancies. So I will see my regular ob-gyn and deliver at the hospital that she is with, even though I HATE that hospital. It is good hospital I just dislike their rules, Like my Dh can't stay in the room if I need an epidural.

Sadly, I will be having a repeat c-section at the hospital...

I live near a hospital with a great labor/deliever unit, so I will be birthing there with an OB and a doula (or so is the plan). Too scared of a homebirth right now. Maybe if all goes well with this pregnancy I might consider a birth center for the next.

hosptial for me with a obgyn. I am high risk because of my IGA immune difficency. I can't recieve any blood or blood products- will go into antifilactic shock. Plus I always bleed uncontrolably. Last time they had to go inside and pat the inside of my uterus down with gauze. PAINFULL. But they couln't stop the bleeding and thought there could be something left behind. It happens every time. They have to give me some shot to make it stop. Which gives me migraines and makes me puke. My Asthma usually kicks in right after I deliver. I went to the hostpital dilated to a seven last time. I hope to do that again and wait as long as possible for an epi, or not at all. Wouldn't it be nice to deliver at home.I would if I could.

I'm not pregnant, but I'm hoping that for my next child I will be able to skip the OBGYN and go for a midwife. It all depends on insurance though. I am chicken about homebirths but I HATE HATE HATE the hospital. My ideal situation would be a birthing center, but I tried looking into it and I didn't really find any within a reasonable distance to me. I'm hoping that by the time I'm in the position to have another kid they will have opened one, but you never know.

I'll be at the hospital with my OBGYN. I'm a first timer, and too chicken to try a birth center this time. Depending on how it goes I may go that route for #2. The hospital here is nice though, and I've heard good things about it.

I'll be with my midwife at a standalone birthing center again. I'd love to do a homebirth but I love my midwife so much that I'm going to deliver at the birthing center with her again. I live an hour and 15 minutes from the center so it's too far for the midwives to travel to do a home birth.

but the birth center has 3 birthing suites that are HUGE with a big queen sized bed a HUGE jacuzzi tub(which I delivered in last time) and a nice big bathroom with a shower with endless amounts of hot water :goodvibes: great for back labor!!!!

I'd love to have a homebirth, but we just don't have the $$ to do it right now. Our insurance won't cover ANYTHING  so I've settled for an in hospital birth (our local hospital calls it "the birthing inn") with a midwife.

In the hospital! Sorry but I need my epidural and i just don't think my husband would be on board with a HB. i would LOVE to do a birthing center but my insurance wouldn't cover it.

I don't know of a birthing center in our area, and dh feels we are too far from the hospital (30 min, more in the winter) to try a home birth since our dd would not have made it if we would have had her at home. So hospital it is.

Hospital birth with an OB for me.. my first 2 were preemies, I had a placental abruption with my first, and I ave a kinda complicated medical history, so Im not candidate for a midwife.

I haven't made up my mind yet... I'm definitely planning a VBAC but I haven't meet with my midwife yet (she's on maternity leave) to discuss the hospital's policies. Once I speak with her (next week) I'll see if I get get a good vibe from the discussion. If not I'll be going elsewhere... I'm also looking into labor support. I found a midwife who does homebirths and doula work should you decide on the hospital route. I'm thinking of hiring her as a doula for a hospital birth this time and next time for a homebirth should everything go well... We'll see...

I'm not preggers yet but I am hoping for either a HB (but might chicken out on that) or a water birth at a birthing center w/ midwive and doula. Either way I want to try a water birth really and that will probably be easier at a birthing center. With my first I was at a birthing center but it was Thanksgiving Day and my midwife was out of town :banghead: so I had some doctor that I'd never seen before and a very long painful labor but I made it with no drugs so it all worked out in the end and dd did awesome!

I didn't have any complications or problems ever during my pregnancy so I really really hope next time goes the same and I can get the birth I want. :yay: My dream birth would be a water birth at the Miami Maternity Center with Shari Daniels but thats a little far fetched but I can dream right? lol I've never even been to Florida! :roflmbo:

I have a high risk history with pregnancy so im not a good candidate for HB, however I have been lucky this pregnancy to have a non complicated one so far & Ive been released by my OB & accepted by a midwife (who actually happens to be a MD) who will be doing an all natural pregnancy with me along side of a team of high risk obs just in case- and if things continue to go so awesome with the pregnancy- when deliver we are planning -It will be in water- it will be in the hospital but naturally in a water room with a birthing tub.
