I got lost on the way there, and was 10 minutes late, but it took 10 minutes to find a parking spot and get IN the building... so, I was 20 minutes late and I had to reschedule.

And how awesome that they didn't have any openings until June 10th? What a waste of $8 in gas just to reschedule. I think I'm finding a different office. If they're going to be THAT busy, I don't think it's going to work.

Well last week I waited 40 minutes to be seen, so doesn't seem like it's fair at all.

I think it falls into the bullsh*t category.

Yeah, that's bull.

Or how about when you take all of that time to drive there, wait for THEM, and the doc says "How are you feeling" "Fine." "Ok lets see that heartbeat....look's great!....see you in 4 weeks."

So I wasted my entire morning getting myself and my cranky toddler out the door, drove across town for a 4 minute visit?

I have a feeling I'll be switching doctors offices. It's just too much.

That is PATHETIC. I hate when they do that. Personally, I think they should have given you the option of staying and waiting for an opening. It sounds more like THEY were overbooked and wanted an excuse. What a bunch of jerks.

Me too. Except I'm hoping DH finally says yes to a midwife.

Well, we switched. Yesterday, after much thought, we chose a midwife. I'd wanted a homebirth before, but since the midwife we talked to wanted full payment by my 25th week (I was 18/19 weeks at the time), we couldn't come up with all of the money that fast. But, this midwife is giving us until the 35th/36th week to be paid in full. And, she has her own birth tubs at no extra charge, so no need to rent one. Best of all, no more lugging my kids across town at weird hours, because she does home care! So, yay!! I'm having a homebirth!!!

They're closed on Fridays and weekends, so I have to wait until Monday to burst their bubble. But, I'll definitely call and tell them, and ask for my records to be transferred as well. :)

I had the same type of experience at my OB's office...and after some BS like that happening to me TWICE in a row, they were too busy to even schedule me monthly, I went every 5-6 weeks depending on the dr's schedule...soooo...

know what i did?

I switched to a midwife. I am seen for 1-2 hours (depending on how long we sit there and chat about random thins or how many questions I have) and I am seen every 4 weeks. I feel soooo much better now that I am there, I am giving birth in a birth center now instead of the hospital and I am soo much more comfortable than I was at the OB's office!

Hire a photog or doula :) I have 500 pics of the birth and labor.. I cry when I look at them.:giggle:

ooo yes I agree on the photographer! If you feel really close to your midwife though then you might not need a doula...but that's up to you! We are hiring a photographer for sure, I cannot wait!!!

I meant use the doula as childcare/photog, lol!

I have to say, I love the fact that I can sit here and look through hundreds of pics, including him coming out of me, it is just amazing...

OK, I was thinking about the photos a little more.. www.myspace.com/lisa14marie some of mine are under the Canyon Folder on my myspace page... you can see the moments that someone captures for you that are so special... I think the best part is seeing the labor from another view... it is really neat, b/c some of these moments I didn't remember...

SAWEET! :clapclap: I'd love, love, love to have a HB! According to DH, he'd agree to it if I had a successful VBAC (did that last year!) and we have to be in a freestanding home (hopefully for the next one!) I'm so excited for you! It sounds heavenly to have prenatal care in your home! :lostit:

Did I mention she has 2 apprentices that will be attending the birth and can act as doulas as well... at no extra charge. Did I hit the jackpot or what? Hopefully they will help take pics too. I plan on giving a little extra after the 35/36 week period, but I told her I could agree to the $2400 for sure. :)

Thanks everybody, I'm really excited.

SO happy for you!!!

My situation is similiar. The midwife wants payment in full by 36 weeks and we're not sure if we can do that. It's a little bit cheaper than an insured hospital birth, but due a lot sooner and in full. I've heard amazing things about this midwife though and that she works with each individual couple to come up with a payment plan that works for YOU. So I'm going to talk DH into just meeting her this month and seeing how we feel. I want a HB so badly. My hospital is anti-everything I want/have in my birth plan.
