Ok so this is baby number 3 and I know labor will start eventually and he will be born but I've had so much happen in the past few weeks I'm getting really frustrated!
History:
No period for 45 days prior to confirmation of pregnancy
Ultrasound dating for pregnancy gave EDD of June 21st, 2008 (17 days from now)
Found out I was suddenly anemic and had to go on pills/ they were going to do shots but I don't like needles.
At 36 weeks I had contractions ALL day long at regular 10 minute intervals so I went in to doctor to find out I was 1 cm dilated and not more than 10-20% effaced. AND had an undetected UTI. Antibiotics and sent home.
Then a day and a half later contractions again at regular intervals for more than a few hours ~ was advised to go to hospital to get checked...3 cm and 50% effaced ~ then discharged from hospital to go home!
One week later (yesterday), still more contractions ~ this time regular enough to call and go into Dr's office to check progress.
My Dr wasn't immediately available so I saw another practitioner.
This Dr stated that they could feel the bag of waters and the baby's head ~ that the baby was most likely in a +1 station although stated that at the hospital when they checked it could be a 0 depending on how they "read" things.
Was told I'm group B positive, that I should go to hospital right then, that Dr was calling ahead, I was to be hooked up to antibiotic then bags ruptured, and baby delivered! So I called my work, told them baby was coming and to start maternity leave...and THEN
I showed up at the hospital and they refused to follow this Dr's orders, said I wouldn't be admitted unless I made cervical change of 1 cm or more in 30 minutes and after being there for 4 hours they sent me home!!!!
Woke up this morning and lost my mucus plug in the shower!
Oh how frustrating!!!!!

:hugs: Sounds like you are awfully close and actually quite a bit ahead of the game. I'm one that always goes to the hospital too early and this time, swore that I wouldn't. You still have a while yet until you are even due so hang in there. I'd wait at home until I was 100% sure they weren't going to send me home.

Honestly, I think they did the safest thing, although I know it is frustrating.
With strep-b, I wouldn't want my waters to be broken artificially! And you stand higher odds of a c-section or other intervention with that sort of induction.
If it makes you feel better about a quick birth, the UK does not routinely test for strep-b. My daughter was born in Scotland and we were never tested. Part of the reason is that they think it is dangerous TO test -- a woman can test negative before birth but be positive by birth and if her baby isn't monitored, that can be dangerous. They can just watch ALL babies closely after birth. Their odds of becoming ill even if untreated are really quite low. :hugs:

I agree w/ pp that it is a good thing they didn't follow Dr's orders and I think I would have refused the AROM anyway, esp. if you are GBS+. Having a broken bag of waters make labor harder, too - having it intact buffers the contractions for you, and also makes labor easier on the baby (same reason, ctx are being buffered for baby so less stress). I think your best outcome will be achieved by letting your baby & body decide when labor will start. And, it will faster for you if you are partially dilated before labor really starts anyway (I'd rather start labor at a 4 than a 0 !!!). GL!

I was due May 31st (well, that was the FINAL EDD at least) and still no baby. I'm 4 cm dilated and 80% effaced, so I feel your frustration. My sister came into town this weekend, hoping baby would come, but he didn't and she's back home. My whole family has their lives on hold (my mom started her vacation, DH quit taking out of town jobs (which means less money), my SIL is on call to watch DS1 when labor begins, etc), and it's getting pretty stressful for me that I can't make them happy...though we all know there's nothing I can do!

Sounds to me like you could squat and have a home birth:roflmbo:
Just kidding. Hope your baby comes soon. 3 out of 4 of mine were late, too.
Hugs, mama.

I am doubting you will be in labor long enough to have the IV. If your doctor/hospital uses hibi-cleanse ask them about flushing with that if you are progressing so fast they don't think you will get in all the antibiotics.
I'd go get a garlic clove from the kitchen, peel it and pop it in your hoohaa to kill off any GBS just in case you go really fast.(FWIW, you may not even have it now...You can be positive one day and negative the next..Really they should just test for this the day women are in labor)
Oh, with my last I walked around at 4cm and effaced for almost two weeks..Passed plug 4 days before going in labor. My water broke and an hour later contractions started.1 hour 37 minutes later I was catching our son. That was pretty quick IMO.
Sounds like you are REALLY close!!

Garlic? I've never heard of that. I'd be afraid of stuffing one up there, going into labor and having everyone in the room holding their breath:giggle:

Hate to be the one to say what you probably don't want to hear, but here I go. :giggle:
At 35 weeks, I was told I'd probably go into labor at any time, and we should pack our bags, get the seat in the car, etc. I was at +1 station, and had my last child in 5 hours, so doc. thought I'd go fast.
I just had my baby on Sunday...39w5d. I was in labor for 11 hours. When I checked in, I was at 4cm, but STILL at +1 station. How can a baby be that low, for soooo long? I expected him to have a conhead, but nope!
Good luck, but everyone's different. I'm not sure how my body held him so low for so long, but I did. If I have anymore, I'm not listening to any predictions, lol.
