Meaghan,
I know you have about a million things on your plate right now, but I was wondering if we've nailed down a date or place?

No rush, but my elite social calender is getting filled for the month :giggle2:

I think we should have the site randomly pick the park since there is 1 vote each and we all want a potluck.

I don't really care what park it is at. I have a minivan now so I am not driving the guzzling Burb.. But I will have 5 kids with me! ack!
my 3 and my 2 nephews so age range is 12.5 Nephew 7.5 Madison 5.5 nephew 2.5 Aidan & 4 mo Matthew

I am new to DS but Frieda had forwarded this to me. I won't be able to meet up this time, but maybe next time.
But, I wanted to give an update on Frieda.
I am Frieda's neighbor, and a new CD mom. Although I am not a new mama, I didn't CD with my 2 boys, but I am with my princess. Anyway, I wanted to let you all know that Frieda is in the hospital. She has placenta previa, and had some bleeding, and contractions. They are keeping her in the hospital, and it looks like she will be there until her baby arrives. He was not scheduled to arrive until 8/3, she was admitted on 6/13 to the hospital, but he is measuring big, so she is hoping they will take him early. She has been on meds to stop contractions and steroids to help his lungs develop. I would be happy to chat over PM or email with anyone who wants more information.

Next meetup at Millwood Park in the Valley @ 10:30? Everyone just want to pack their own lunches?

Angela and Lacey did say the park has a wading pool if I'm not mistaken, so bring the kiddo's suits & towels  .

it has a wading pool and then there is also a splash pad for the older kids. I think the wading pool only is up to age 7? I could be wrong though but last year there was a *lifeguard* there to watch the kids.

lacy those sandwiches were the bomb as well as that salad Meghan :goodvibes:

Kids had a blast and Aidan was out before we hit the main street.

 Err, um... ah I kinda gave up on mine and gave it away! :( I'd still love a tutorial and perhaps if I love it I'll get another  .

It's really funny, so far with the Moby, a ring sling, regular sling, mei tai, Baby Bjorn, and a Front/Back Snuggly (that was $6 on FSOT, BTW!)... from about 4 mos on I like the front/back Snuggly the best. Up until 4 mos or so you couldn't have gotten me to trade my Moby for anything - she was so snuggled up right there... awww!

I LOVE your Mei Tai with buckles though, Lacey!!! The straps are narrower, but still wide enough, and you don't have long straps hanging anywhere!

I thought you had a buckle tai. We could easily modify it to add the chest strap and the armpit ones too.

I would totally post this as it's own little post and not reply if I could figure out how- so sorry! I came to a meet-up at Little Garden Cafe a while back and someone had THEE CUTEST monkey knit little outfit for their baby. I have been thinking about it ever since and I really, really want it! She told me where she bought it but I have forgotten.
Mama with a good sense of baby style---- where is it that you got that monkey outfit again?

Thanks!

Hi! My name is Brenna and I have a little girl who is 14 months now. She was crawling everywhere and putting everything in her mouth as all the other babies sat quietly in their mama's laps. haha! Angela emailed me about the cute outfit... they are sold out (of course) and I saw one on ebay for $40! Yikes! I guess everyone else loves it too. I think the company will probably make something similar next fall season so I"ll keep my eye out, but maybe something will come up on ebay for cheaper (that's where angela bought hers.)

lacy you are crazy!! But I would do the same thing. I told my mom and sister it was illegal. At least my sister was at her car doing it and not in the park itself. My mom is trying to quit for her health and for the grandkids. They are not allowed to hold Matthew if they had a smoke and they have to wash hands, change clothes pull hair back etc.. before they handle him.. per doc orders from when he had RSV! So far it has worked and my mom and sis have realized how *gross* it is after years of smoking and nagging from my stepdad.

Your opinion please... is this OK to request for the kids' b-day party (in concern for gifts). No joke almost all of the Christmas 07 gifts they received were ruined by the time March and April came around :banghead: and being that we are celebrating Owen, Abby & Patrick's birthdays together, I don't want people to feel overburdened with the gifts.

What do you thinK?

**NO individual gifts please. I know this seems odd to many, but if you would like to get something we’d rather give the kids FAMILY gifts this year that focus on doing things together (a $10 ice cream gift card, tokens to ride the carousel together, a family video, ect.). We are doing this as most of the gifts from Christmas were ruined by the time spring came around. Don't worry... mom and dad don't fall under this rule :) Individual cards are more than welcome! Thank you for understanding!

Pine River park is really close to me.
BUT I wouldn't want to go there as it gets crazy with all th people there in the river and it would be really hard to keep track of Conor. I would be too scared that he would get in the river without me and have problems and I couldn't get to him quick enough.

I think it is fine and great.
I always say no gifts...unless you feel you really have to.
Conor doesn't know the difference and celebrating with friends and family is gift enough!

As for a park...I'm thinking Grant (it has a splash pad):
http://www.spokaneparks.org/PDF%20files/Park%20Maps/Grant%20Park%2040.pdf
I like Grant!
We used to live 2 blocks from there.
The only thing is there is a big seperation between the little kid toys and the bigger kids toys.
Hard to watch all of them at the same time....

Angela you asked how old my Ergo was and I don't think I told you. I bought it for Marah Jade when she was 7 months and it is 4 years old. I want a new one but I have been spending all my money on yarn.

Well I heard and saw they are coming out with an organic embrodiered Ergos the 2 I saw are beautiful.

I thought it was cool to see an original one. I have one ( not an original about 1.5 yrs old maybe?? )and I used it for Aidan yesterday on my back and Matthew in front with the Mei tai.. that was interesting.. and heavy.. 45lbs of kids on me.

With how big Quinlan is the Mei Tai just isn't comfortable anymore. I keep thinking about selling my Babyhawk and getting the new Ergo but I am afraid I will regret selling it. We were walking to Audubon the other day and some dope wasn't watching his Jack Russell and it bit Marah Jade. So I had Q in the Ergo and was carrying my crying 40 lb DD on my hip. Yeah that was fun.

I've done it a handful of times. I think a park might work. We could each just bring some jugs/gallons of water, our colors (I use Dylon), rubber bands, salt, big bowls, and some big ziploc bags to bring them home in.

I think we could do it

Hey guys, cottonbabies is selling thier used 'fixable' 2.0s - does anyone know how long they fit your kiddos? Do you think they would fit a 25 pounder and a 32 pounder . I know that may be pushing it. The kids are both Patrick's build - not so tall, thick, and solid, but still thin. I got one and Olivia is on the 2nd set of snaps and has plenty of room in the waist still, but I'm not sure about Samantha's boys fitting in them.

Before I go and buy them (I'm thinking Sam could get away with 18 for both the boys???? and daycare should accept them if the kids go back into daycare when she finds a job and she can use the covers and prefolds at home). I can just buy a pack of microfiber towels from Costco for $15 - they are thinner microfiber, but she can double stuff.

For $5 each I can't really even make a pocket diaper. It takes me an hour + to make one diaper, but I can repair elastic/snaps/touchtape pretty quick!

Wonder if they will give me free shipping too, since that would be over $75?

Am I insane or is this a cheap way to get her into some diapers.

I don't know if you remember seeing Marah Jade and Quinlan at the park but the BG 2.0 fits both of them. Marah Jade's hip is 24" Quinlan's is 22". They both have a 17" rise.

I'd like to put my order in tomorrow if I can. I'm sending her some fabric for a couple of them, so if you have fabric you'd rather have it made with she needs 1/2 yard if it's multidirectional and a full yard if it's a one way pattern on the fabric. They can do solid colors, too, though. If you send in your own fabric, take another $4 off the 20% off price.

So momma, just a guess but what do you think you're having this time... boy or girl?

Awesome!! Diapering 2 I totally know.. but we put Aidan in trainers and pulls ups.. His dipes are L but some are too small waist wise and I'm waiting to sell them to see if Matthew fits in them but I am loving OS dipes.. both of them can wear the same diaper and prefolds for around the house with Matthew.

So ladies that are making OS and pocket dipes.. do you want me to bring some of my stash? I just got a new OS fitted from The Natural baby co.. I love it.. I think it is my favorite diaper.... but I have lots of OS pockets that you can all look at to see how each one is different and go from there.

That would be really cool - except that I can't make it to this meetup. Daniel is getting 2 teeth pulled that morning and they are sedating him - so I don't know how the rest of the day will go.

Of course, you don't have to plan everything around me  April

They have a toddler area with a gate! I get so much work done thanks to the gate at Mobius. When was J born? He is probably the same age as Quinlan.

If you want to go we're thinking of meeting at the Rocket on Argonne at 9. We called around for prices and availability and decided on Smith's Hilltop Orchard U-pick.

9423 E Green Bluff Rd, Colbert 99005. You can meet there too around 9:15.

Hey, do I have a siggie?

So far no new puking since this morning...keeping my fingers crossed.

So are we meeting at 10:30? I probably won't make it until closer til noon because I have yoga from 10:35 to 11:35 on MWF. Will anyone still be there by then?

Dang it, nope no siggie here either, though I just need a couple more posts. Maybe one more.

Ok, off to make my siggie, and to get off the puter and sleep. i wish I could stay up to knit, but I am EXHAUSTED after staying on half alert all night with a puking baby. I swear she threw up 8 times during the night. At least I had a good system set up after I got hosed the first time in bed. I also had to do 3 loads of laundry in the middle of the night. I ended up keeping everyone home from school cause I could not bear to leave the house this morning.

She's all the way better. Sam and Vi got it last night and Alex and maddy came home from school today. So unless I get it tonight (OMG, everyone please send healthy no getting sick for me vibes my way, I will not make it on another night of no sleep!!), everyone will be healthy tomorrow. No one has puked since about 5 pm. Yay!! The stories I could tell with this round. Having five kids and a stomach bug is no laughing matter, and the LAUNDRY, OMG!!

I can imagine.. Aidan had a bout yesterday but I think his was related to his drainage in his nose. He had some milk for breakfast and I dropped the kids off at school and we were in the safeway parking lot.. He was holding my hand and then I felt something wet on my foot.. I look down and he was hunched over.. poor guy.. I look back and he had been throwing up very quietly from the back of the van to the sidewalk! :yuck: I felt horrible that i did not even hear him and he never said anything. But then he was fine. Got some maalox for him and he was back to himself.. lol.. then Jeff took him to cartoys to get something for the van and he got sick there.. lol.. again quiet as a mouse. SO then he came home and got a warm bath and again he was fine. :headscratch:

My kids are weird when it comes to being sick.. :lostit: But he is back 100% now with an appetite as well.

I may or may not be there after all.
Conor has the pukes now. He has only thrown up twice, but I stopped his food so we will see what happens when I try to get something in his tummy.
I will not be sending him to school tomorrow.
If he stop puking tonight we might come after all if noone minds.
He doesn't play with other kids so that should minimize things.
But if you mind I won't bring him to potentially expose you :yuck:

Yeah, probably a good idea.
Plus he seems to be getting worse for the moment not better. I tried putting half and oz of pedialyte in and he threw up far more than that... ugh!

And Asher is sleeping a lot more than normal...
And my tummy is feeling quesy...

So we won't be there :)

OK, all this pukey talk is making me :yuck:. I hate the pukies... they are by far my least favorite sickies - when one kiddo gets it, they all do :banghead:.

Feel better everyone :hugs:.

Yeah he is.. and that is why I wasn't really jumping to the he is sick conclusion at first either.
But he is definately sick.. and a fever too.

Awww...I'm sorry. that sucks. no one here had a fever, but stuff is definitely going around. i hope you all get better. i seem to have been spared, thank god, cause who would have done all the puke laundry. lol

I think Jacob is either getting sick or just really crabby. So, I think we are staying home. I just felt in his mouth and the top 2 molars have come thru the skin and the botton 2 are huge bumps. That could be the reason behind our crabbiness, but I am not totally sure. Besides, I really need to get some diapers done today!!! April

I know what you mean. It was two hours of HEAVEN! I got a girl named Misty who does natural parenting, so we spent an hour while she was massaging me talking about hippy ways of life :giggle: I'm assuming you and Lacey enjoyed yours too!:giggle2:

So Meaghan, April, Alicia and I were talking about places we could meet this week indoors since the weather looks generally crummy and thought the Drop n' Play at Northtown might be a good spot. You pay $2 for an hour and can sit in there with your kids while they play. The nice thing is that you don't have to worry about them escaping like you do in the play areas at fast food joints or the mall because they have a gate. Any takers for this week?

That is fine with me. It is $3 an hour.

Wierd, last time I was there it was two. Actually now that I think about it, it must have been 2.50 because I have two kids and it cost me 5 even. Darn inflation!

I'm fine with whatever. If money is a problem (and I can sure see it being w/ more than 1 kid), we could always do the play area at Northtown outside the drop and play. I was just loving the idea of my kid locked in somewhere :giggle: I think we need to start thinking of indoor places to meet up, so sad!!!

LOL I've made it a point to go to the mall before hours and let Aidan run off some steam.. especially if he is a bear to wake up.. I really hope his surgery improves that!!

I'm open Thur/Fri. I have a doc appt tmrw and JBF volunteering on Wed.
Now that Jeff is back to work Wed and Sat I am pretty much not available. That is pick up and drop off days for him. I'm basically *on call* since he flies standby.

NO fun having to be on call all day.. I suppose though that waiting with some friends and then jumping in the car might be more fun than waiting at home :)
As long as it isn't further away from the airport than home is and you didn't pay and then have to leave 2 minutes later... and the kids are already all the way dressed and ready to go! LOL

As for the mall.. I often have zero dollars available to me.
Sometimes I have some pp and would be willing to pp someone if they would pony up the cash to get Asher in. If I had to have Conor there too I would end up not coming to a place I had to pay to get in... he is too unpredictable.
But I wouldn't want to make it a every week thing to HAVE to pay to get in.

Nina since Asher is an infant you might not have to pay. I will see if I can find a phone number and call.

Yeah I can't do that free play area. Quinlan knows the Build a Bear store is there and he will not forget about it.

Was the consensus Friday at Drop in and Play at Northtown Mall?

So where do you gals meet for knit club during cold weather? Is there anywhere else we can meet that is free/cheap and indoors?

I won't be comming :(. Patrick has a two hour intake appointment that I subconsiously :giggle: forgot about.

Other ideas:
~Library
~Valley mall play area (I like it better than the Northtown, for some reason it feels cleaner :headscratch: )
~ the cute coffee shop up by Aububon Park
~ That empty Burger King that we should have bought and turned into a coffee shop with a playland :banghead: ... if only I had a pot of gold I have so many ideas :giggle:

Right now I have a solid rotation on Sunday's of The Shop, The Rocket and Round Table Pizza. I have to make a couple of phone calls to reserve the library on Saturdays. We will be going to the Cafe in NW BLVD and I have to find one more place that will allow kids some of the time on Saturdays. I am hoping Paradise Fibers will let us come but no promises
