So I've seen a few people on here mention that their LOs "just decided" one day to be done w/ diapers and had very few accidents or anything. If you're one of those parents, what sort of "prepwork" did you do? I mean obviously they were aware of the toilet... but posts like this imply that you never set them on it or anything. :headscratch:

My DD was one that just got it. I never told her anything, never made her sit on the potty at all. She was 2 years old. We always had her princess potty seat in the living room. She didn't decide on her own though. One day, I just got fed up of changing her diapers. I sat her down and explained to her that big girls go potty on the toilet. I took off her diaper, put her in panties and showed her where she was to go potty. The first time, she wet herself and she noticed. That was fine. After the initial time she wet herself, she kind of just knew when she had to go. She didn't have an accident for a while. That was the last day she wore a diaper all the time. About 2 days later, she started staying dry at night. Then about 2-3 weeks into the PLing, she started having accidents. Not a lot of them, but a few. We don't know what happened. But she got over it within a few days and hasn't had an accident since.

My 24mo just "decided" to PL, he still wears dipes, just keeps the same one dry most of the day. He saw his brother going and figured it out, and he LOVES sitting on his potty:giggle:
My dd was a seamless PLer too, and I kept her in a dipe for a few days after of keeping them dry all day.
I do tell my dc to sit on the potty at times, like before going out or bath or bedtime. I just don't do the every 20min routine.
My 1st ds was not an easy PLer! He was 3.5yo and I just told him no more dipes and made him clean up his messes, which he made a few:yuck: He had NO accidents though, after about 2 days anyway....
