So, I did ask this on the diaper forum but, no answer. I started cding Bruce when he was six months old. He hasn't really worn cloth full time for about a year now. He mostly potty trained. So, since it's been a while I need help in picking out what newborn, small diapers I'm going to get. I like all systems so let me know what you liked or are getting. :)
After reading a few posts, I should say I'm wanting info more about brands then systems. I'm already planning on using all kinds of cloth diapers. :)

I'm not sure what you preferred for your ds, but I found that the easier and cheapest combo for a nb was lots of preemie and/or infant pfs trifolded into Thirsties covers. We used those during the day almost exclusively for the first 2 months. At night sometimes I would use fitteds or pockets but only if I was really groggy.
For our #3, we're planning on reusing the pfs and covers we have and supplementing with a few more fitteds (mutts, nanipoos, and happy hempys) Then I may get a few AIOs for the visiting relatives, etc...
Hope you get some great ideas mama. Nb fluff is fun (and easier to care for than toddler fluff imo and ime) :)

I've not cd yet, but I'm building a newborn stash to start with as soon as Charlie gets here.
From the various threads I've started or looked at in diaper chatter it looks like the winners hands down are very baby and rumpster. Swaddlebees AIO's are well loved at that stage too.
I made 12 fleece AIO's that I will stick a bsww if I go out or need extra protection. (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3273/2553665785_65a1e21cc1.jpg?v=0)
I plan on making another 12 flannel fittdes.
And then i have a bunch of rumpster, swaddlebees and a very baby (all AIO) to see what I like.
I don't know if that helps, since I'm not really experienced, but that's what others have passed onto me.

I've used my own diapers on all 4 of my girls and my new Grandson. If you want to see how they fit on a newborn, I have some pics of my Grandson wearing them here:
http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/WinsomeWhatNots/
You'll have to go back a few pages to find them. You can also see some pics of Cloth Canoes newborn dipes and some from Z to A Baby. I like them all. :)

I am a newbie here, pregnant with my first and planning to CD, and have no expierence of my own. But i have been recommended the Kissaluvs for infants. (I have a few Happy Heiny's, my Sister-in-law found for us here on DS, but as I am still pregnant, I haven't used them yet!!)

I have some unbleached GMD orange edged prefolds, nb nanipoos, a nb cuddlebun, a nb(xs) righteous baby. I am planning to cover those with pull-on wool soakers (luxe, wcw) and longies. I also got a few small gad pockets for out and about.
I can't wait to use fluff on a tiny nb!

I have 2 dozen GMD orange edge pf's all prepped (they're so adorable!) and 2 dozen ubipf's from my ds. Also a couple of nb prowraps, several xs thirsties covers, and a wool wrap....plus a stash of small thirsties covers for when we outgrow the xs ones. We're a pf-only family for the most part. I have some fitteds that I made that I use for my son overnight. But since I'll be changing several dipes a night for a while, I don't want to make a ton of fitteds that will just be outgrown in a few weeks. So for the beginning, it'll just be pf's only until the night time poops stop and then maybe I'll be making some fitteds for overnight for the new one.

Here is what I have so far:
2 dozen orange edge prefolds
20 nb mutts

2 wool soakers
1 wool wrap with 1 more on the way
2 small woollybottom footies
3 wool longies
1 wool skirtie
10 bg 3.0 that I am using with ds
7 meos bamboo using with ds
I will be getting some xsmall thirsties covers.
What do you think?

My NB stash goal is a dozen prefolds, a dozen fitteds, and a dozen AIOs/pockets. So far I have a dozen GMD unbleached orange edge prefolds, 4 XS Sandys fitteds, 4 NB Nana's Bottoms AIOs (these are TINY) and 2 XS Very Baby AIOs. For covers I have 2 NB prowraps, 1 NB WCW, and 1 NB Stacinator wool cover. I'm going to get a couple XS thirsties and at least one imse vimse cover because I've been reading great reviews on those lately.
DD #1 was 8lbs 15oz at birth, so I'm guessing that the newborn size isn't going to fit for very long. We also started CDing around 6 months, so this is my first newborn fluff!

i'm a newbie myself and i have been doing a ton of research and for the beginning i am going to use prefolds and covers...they are the most cost effective and you won't be using them for long anyways...it will give me time to find out what i really want to use for the baby...then let the spending begin! lol

We will be reusing DD's dipes for this lo. I did sell off all her small covers b/c I hated them all- left red marks on her legs (bummis sww, prowraps) and now I am in love with Imse Vimse covers.
So, cpf's with Imse Vimse covers (which I need to buy, the covers that is), and thirsties covers, which I have heard good things about, but not personally tried.
We also have 6 small FB's for outings, and an adorable new Knickernappies that was a gift.
I know that with DD, who was 8lb 10 oz at birth (two weeks early), she was out of smalls by 3 months old, so I'm more concerned about the medium stash. :)
When we move up to mediums, our stash is mostly FB's and Snap-Ez's pockets, a few HH's and Knickernappies. And then CPF's and Imse Vimse covers.
I would warn the first-time moms of two things: one- don't buy a whole ton of newborn and small sized items. My DD never wore newborn sized (she was too big!) and she outgrew the smalls in three months. and two- I see some of you are building your stashes around AIO's only. That could be a mistake! My DD was such a heavy wetter she peed right through any AIO I put on her bottom so we went back to cpf/cover combo and some pockets for grandma and dr visits. :D

So far I have gotten the pf's (34 chinese white) and now have also gotten a
dozen kissaluvs 0's (heard good things about) and have a 4 mj's I traded a PP pocket for.
I have some prowraps:~ and a really sweet little pair of pink and brown shorties! I would love to get some Imse Vimse soft cotten wraps and luxe soakers...I guess I might still have time!
What carriers are you getting?? I am looking for a GM BBB in Freya, it's hot here in FL even in November!

For carriers I already bought a brown and pink reversible microfleece peanut shell. I also plan on getting a girly Babyhawk and maybe a wrap.

I ordered for DD and LO from http://hyenacart.com/butterflybunz/ after trying an AIO from there that I love! She makes AI2 as well and I did choose some of those for my LO because from what I understand with a newborn these are great because most the time you just need to change the insert and not the whole diaper, so I just ordered extra inserts for the AI2 from her too. I also plan to have GMD PFs on hand and fleece covers from Jeromn123 on DS (they are a great price and I use these on DD and they work great too!).

I didn't read the responses but here's what we use:
With Colton we had:
AI2's from SNS (Strawberries N Sunshine) - these were my FAVORITES!
Pockets from Abbycadabras
Covers by Wiggle Worm bottoms, some proraps and bummis
Premie prefolds - and infant once he got a little bigger.
A few kissaluv fitteds
For this baby I have gotten
A dozen or so kissaluvs (I LOVED them with Colton)
WWB covers again
SNS AI2's
2 AI2's by someone else - I'll have to look tomorrow as I can't recall
Some newborn proraps
Premie prefolds and of course infant once the baby gets a bit bigger
That's mostly our stash. I have enough diapers to go through 2 days without washing (I think). I do need to get some small proraps and a few more med proraps when the baby needs them. I didn't care for them with Colton as a newborn but I've come to actually love the simplicity of them AND they are the only cover that works overnight for my two year old. That is HUGE to me because we've tried everything. I would add a few pockets if I were to come by them at a good deal but as it stands I think we're probably all set. I bought everything very early on. It was the first thing I started doing when the test turned positive! lol

I like variety, so in addition to a dozen GMD PFs, I have Kissaluvs, Snugglebottoms, Tinkle Traps, Thirsties Fitted & BG Bamboo fitteds.
I have some pocket diapers for when they grow out of newborn fluff...one of each Haute Pocket, Blueberry, FuzziBunz, Happy Heiny's, Swaddlebees and Kushies.
For covers, I have Proraps, Imse Vimse, Bumkins, Bummis, Cot n' wrap and Kushies.
Most of my stash is used, that way I can try lots of types without breaking the bank.
Don't know what will work yet...my girls aren't due until November.

I've only cd'd my LO since 6 mos too! So this time around I went for a bit of variety.
24 NB fitteds (Mutts & Nanipoos)
24 infant indian pf's
12 Mutt 3srs
2 xs & 3 sm wool covers
1 NB luxe shorts
2 xs PUL & 3 sm PUL covers
2 pairs of knit longies
2 pairs of interlock longies
12 small Fuzzi Bunz
3 BG 3.0
WOW - I guess that is quite a bit - no wonder I have no pp - lol! I am planning ahead so if I get behind in the wash a few days I won't resort to sposies :) Plus if I get really behind we can break into dd's one-size stash... Boys can do pink!

This is what I have so far. Any input on what I else I may need would be great :-)!!
I have:
12 Chinese infant prefolds. (4x8x4) These seem a bit stiff though.
12 Chinese (i think) unbleached infant prefolds (4x6x4) These are thinner and seem softer then the other prefolds I have
6 BG 3.0 one size diapers
8 RAR one size diapers
(not sure when the one size diapers will fit well?)
11 nb/size small (random brands) pocket diapers
That is all I have for a "new born". I have 13 Med FB's, 2 Med covers, 3 LG covers, 20 premium Indian prefolds and 4 Med G diapers for him to grow into. My sister is throwing me a "Diaper Drizzle" so I am hoping to get a bunch more BG 3.0's. Those are my FAV!!!
I THINK I want to buy some nb orange edge prefolds and some more indian infant prefolds (so they are softer then the ones I have). I also need some xsmall and small covers.
Any other suggestions???
