Does this only apply to Public school teachers? Read that and tell me I have read it right that ALL teachers involved with book-it can participate. ;)

Hi
Well I'm a SAHM right now but normally I teach special Education. Book It is a cool program and some schools do it and some don't. One place that really supports it is pizza hut. You can get the book it stuff from your child's teacher and as your child reads "x" amount of books Pizza Hut rewards them w/a personal pizza. There are many ways teachers can incorporate Book It in their curriculum but w/Pizza Hut they are not in competion w/anyone. Pizza Hut is just one example. I know quite a bit about the program if you want to know specifics. Just pm me I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you may have:mrgreen: I am a firm beleiver that children should not be forced to compete w/other children when it comes to reading. They should only be in competion w/themselvs. It's so important for early readers to boost their self esteeem. The love for reading starts early and if not fostered carefully and w/love could turn children off from reading. Ok ok I'll get off my soap box now. Anyway pm me and I'll tell you all about the program.

*I type fast and quickly so don't look at my spelling errors. People seem to think that because you're a teacher you can't make spelling errors. I'm to lazy to spell check:smiley_haha:

I think I will enter it. It doesn't say that homeschooling parents can't do it. I have 2 in that age group and i enrolled them for Book It.

I hope I didn't come across as rude  My kids have LOVED this program at school and so I have signed them up for this year as well :)

I think I will sign myself up for the teachers incentive program. I have 2 in the program itself too :)

how did you sign your kids up- it says this under requirements

Who is eligible?
BOOK IT! Beginners is available for children ages 3-5, not yet in kindergarten, who attend a preschool/pre-kindergarten program or licensed child care facility. A regular faculty, curriculum, and an enrolled body of at least four eligible preschool children must be maintained.

I wanted to sign up my son who we are going to start Homeschooling next year. thanks

We have been getting book its for years as a home school coop they require homeschoolers to give the name of each family how many kids and what city they live in and mail them out to you it is easy and free. It is a great incentive to get your children reading in their free time. Sorry the short answer is YES they are set up for homeschoolers to participate.:lostit:

When you go the Book-It site, click on the "teachers" link and then there is an option for homeschooling, click on that and then it will have 2 links for homeschooling groups and single homeschooling families. That is where I have signed my children up. :)
