I was talking to my mom a bit ago about what was going on with me for the past 24 hours and she said she thinks it my be early/prelabor signs.... so i decided to ask you ladies, though i havent been on here in a while.:)
first off--i havent eaten anything weird. also my "schedule" hasnt changed much, i usually take a midday nap around now, so i will be doing that shortly, since i pretty much cannot sleep at night anymore.
i went to bed around midnight. just as we were dozing off i got some serious pains/cramps and made a run for the bathroom. i barely made it. the worst diarrhea, not liquid at all but very upset stomachy. i climbed into bed and woke again at around 2.5 hours later. again, upset stomach. this happened 2 more times before the sun came up and then once more this morning after i put the dog outside for his morning bathroom trip. my lower back has been hurting really really bad. i have also been feeling alot of aches all over my stomach and especially in my lower belly. i havent lost a mucous plug that i know of or anything, however i have had increased discharge. i also have aside from feeling miserable, weird moments of almost euphoria where i feel drugged. i had one of these moments while in the waiting room at bellas pediatricians office, even though i was feeling really sickly. it feels like she is moving alot down in my pelvic region. she is a big mover and shaker anyway, but she hasnt stopped moving since about 5 this morning. i have kept fluids in my body but havent eaten anything and havent really had the desire, so she isnt reacting to any sugars or anything. shes actually moving so much it hurts sometimes, which unless she scrapes my ribs or hits my bladder has never been the case before...so what do you ladies think?
OH: as of two days ago im 38 weeks, though i am measuring a few days ahead, more than likely due to us not knowing exactly when my LMP was and etc.

That does sound to me like early labor. Although, I remember having a lot of pain and discharge near the end, but it wasn't labor. Have you seen your "plug" or is there blood in your discharge? Those are sure signs!!! I thought my little one was trying to break out during the last month! He was constantly moving and kicking, so much so that it seriously hurt. The bm's sound like what everyone always told me to look for. I was induced, so I never experienced it personally. I would definitely call in a visit to your doctor...that is if you haven't already had your little one!!!

It sounds like early labor to me, but early labor can last for a few weeks. So thats not me saying I think she'll come tomorrow necessarily, kwim? With ds my water broke spontaneoulsy, but with dd I had a few weeks of pre-labor stuff before she finally came. The nice thing was that all out painful part of active labor was only 4 hours and I went into it 5cm dilated! That was awesome. I want the same thing to happen this time actually. But maybe I'm weird.
Are you comfortable with checking your own dilation?

Discharge does increase during pre-labor and the diarrhea is a known sign of impending labor, but as a previous poster said, it can last a long time. The thing that helped me the most was when my midwife said to make your body convince you that you are in labor. Different positioning, changing what you're doing and trying to relax as best you can often changes how you feel as you get further in. I just had my first three weeks ago, and I was hyper-sensitive to all the "signs" of labor and it just made it worse for me because by the time true labor started, I was second-guessing myself. Trust your body to let you know when it's time.
Good luck!

its still going on...
my back is hurting a lot worse now and about 4 or 5 times today i have rushed to the bathroom thinking i needed to go number 2 very badly but all for not. this past time im pretty sure i saw what was part of my mucous plug in the toilet but we have a dark green porcelin one so it was really hard to tell. ive repacked my hopspital bag and done some laundry:) the worst thing i can imagine is bring an infant home with a ton of laundy, a messy home and a befuddled dog waiting for us. so i have tried to keep moving all day to keep my body "working" my boyfriend doesnt like this. if he wasnt at work all day to day i would be tucked into bed and watched carefully. hes afraid of me over exerting myself. haha. it was 111 degrees here last week and i had no ankles. its better now, but it has him paranoid.
as far as dilation i havent been checked by my OB yet. he isnt going to check me until wednesday at my next appointment where i will be 39wks +... i wouldnt have a problem checking myself but i have no idea how to do that or that i would be "accurate" at it.

DH and I are clueless but we try anyway. He was able to tell with DD#1 DD#2 when he could feel their heads. He says he can feel LO#3's head now, which to me means I am at least 3 cm. But when I check, everything just feels like a vagina.

i went to the doctor today and though i have been having contractions, (including a painful one right there in the room) i got nothing. not dialated a bit. my ob was a lil disappointed as he was hoping for one or 2 cm at this point (im measuring "done" a few days ahead of todays estimate of 39 wks) he finally gave me a weight estimate for her at "8 pounds and some change" as he put it. im hoping shes a little bit smaller. im normally 125 pounds and 5'2" and i am 186 right now, ALL BELLY. everyone tells me my belly looks like it is gonna explode. her daddy is a little over 6 foot and rail thin, but our doctor thinks she may be a "tall" one. so we will see. sigh. my doc will be gone for the holiday weekend but he feels i at least will last another week so i dont have to worry about ending up with the on call doc. wish me luck. jeesh. my baby is a monster:)

Since you're not dilated at all, I would say stay at home as long as you can. It sounds like early labor to me, but that could last 2 days. As far as checking yourself, I found if I layed on the floor, I could reach it. When you put your fingers in, go until you meet resistance (the baby's head). If you are still closed, you should feel a dimple. If you are dilating, it will be a circle. 1 finger is 1cm, 2 fingers side by side is 3cm, approx. If you go to the hospital too soon, they'll most likely send you back home to wait unless your water has broken. Goodluck mama!

Or push pit b/c you are term. :hugs: stay home as long as you physically can. Also don't be frustrated b/c you can just as easily go from no dialation to ready to push in a matter of no time, just as you can walk around for weeks dialated ;)
