Not spaghetti that would purposely make a mess, and yes my kids all feed themselves but with forks and spoons..that's what they are for aren't they?

my boys are just starting to eat like this.. they just started having 2-3 meals a day just a few days ago and are food fiends! they hate spoons and forks and well, i gave them thier food in a bowl last night with forks but it doesn't do any good.. i'll continue to give them to them, but until they can use them, we will have messes because i don't have the time and they don't have the patients for me to feed them every meal.

aww mama! my boys hated baths until they didnt have to be in some sort of seat. now that they can sit in there/lay in there (one of them refuses to sit straight up without his hand to support him even though he can lol) they love it!

:goodvibes: they very much enjoy playing and making food messes:giggle:

so you have time to clean up such a mess but no time to help them learn how to use a fork and spoon.. :headscratch:
i sure do! it takes twice as long to feed them because they fight it. it took me 10 minutes in a bath they were going to take anyway, and 5 minutes wiping down the trays. no biggie. I help them with forks and spoons, but i'm not spending 30 minutes a meal 'teaching' them something they can learn in thier own time. a mama's gotta have time to eat too, and there is hardly enough time in a day for that as it is!

DUDE!!! Just quit clicking this thread if all you're going to do is come in and be rude. Sheesh. So you don't feed your kids spaghetti...so you don't let them make messes...so it's NOT YOUR MESS to clean up...DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!!! :banghead:

HAHAH 2 that age a piece of cake?? have you EVER had twins:roflmbo: they aren't difficult but they sure aren't easy! i can help my kids and eat at once but it's nice to be able to sit down and eat in piece for just ONE meal a day, and that's very very rare around here. i sure don't understand why it's ok to me to let my kids eat like that and for some reason it isn't ok with YOU that my kids eat that way. they enjoy it. my 2yo has some issues, but he can eat on his own. he doesn't need my help, but he enjoys sitting at the table with me. the twins enjoy sitting there playing and i talk with them and laugh with them while i eat. that is much more fun than making them angry because they want to feed themselves. what is wrong with that??

I have never understood why there is always one person who has to rain on a funloving post. now if i wanted someone to tell me how to feed my kids, i would have posted this asking.. tell me what i'm doing wrong as a mother, thank you very much!

Not all of us are supermom. We're human. Sometimes we like to eat when everyone else does. Those babies aren't even a year old. Have you ever raised twins AND a toddler at the same time? I'm sure its not as easy at it sounds. I'm sure she'd love a break though if you'd like to come show her how to wrangle twins a toddler and get some time for yourself as well.

well put! and i'm always open to free lesson's in being a supermom:mrgreen:

eta: i wanted to add also that my oldest is possibly autistic, and i in all honestly believe he is, though we can't get the eval right now.... so it's not all fun and games around here. try taking care of not only 2 1yo's and a 2yo but a 2yo with special needs...

oh, eta again: i do a damn good job as a mom and alot of the time i do it alone. i may not be perfect.. far from it even, but my kids are happy and fed and i see no need to worry about the mess they make!

I hate it when parents don't let their kids ever make a mess. I think they look so cute!!! Table manners are something children need to learn and I am big on that but when kids are first learning about food I think it is okay to use your hands as well as your utensils. It makes the experience so much more enjoyable for them.

I know kids who have never been allowed to jump in puddles, get muddy (god forbid their clothes might get dirty!) or play in the sand at the park. I feel sorry for them :(

I had to giggle at the big storm cloud hanging over everyones good time here. Completely ridiculous. But anyyyyways, Haden and Mason are two of the most beautiful baby boys I've ever seen! And those smiles are priceless! this needs to be printed out and put in their baby book! And also used for those big picture boards after graduation. Thats about 17 years off though...so lets stick to the baby book for now. :) haha!

super sorry you feel like you have to defend yourself. as a note DONT ever feel like you have to explain yourself to anyone here on this board or out in the Real World.
I know i let my home slide so i can spend time w/ my son. and if anyone every told me I lived like a big, I'd point to my son and say he's happy and healthy I could care a rat tail about anything else!!!

They are absolutely adorable! I love it! I have pictures of my girls making huge messes when they were eating...lots of them! Every meal Ella eats, she feeds herself (unless its yogurt or something then I'll help her, but I do let her try to feed herself some too!). That's how kids learn! And yea, you can give them forks and spoons at their age, but I don't know of any 11 month olds who eat using utensils... Some people just need to take a chill pill! I feel sorry for those kids who aren't allowed to be kids and make messes!

:roflmbo: wow this comment srsly , put a huge smile on my face thank you thank you thank you for the wonderful laugh.

I find it rather hard to believe you NEVER let your child feed them self. Its a part of growing up and i can bet in prob. EVERY parenting/baby book they will even say to LET your child learn to feed them self specially with finger foods. Ive got TONS of pictures of my daughter just covered in everything and anything from mashedpotatos to pasta to curry to oatmeal. Would it be easier to just let her use a spoon , of course. But wheres the fun and kodak moments in that ???

Pshh anyways :goodvibes: ... tabatha i dont think u need to explain anything you do and why you do it. This is such a cute post and haden and mason are ADORABLE. :hugs:

It was a long time before I let DD go wild w/ spaghetti... but even that was just "naked" spaghetti, LOL.

My DD STILL eats naked to cut down on ruining her clothes. She's always covered in food--head to thigh, which I don't mind at all. It's the stained clothes that were driving me nuts. Nekkie dining is the perfect solution!

omg.. when my oldest was little we lived in an apartment and had to pay for laundry.. when we visted the IL's, MIL kept getting mad at me when i told her to take his clothes off if she was giving him something! she would always say, "we have a washer and dryer, clothes can be cleaned!" well, i dont care! a baby can be cleaned too! i dont' mind some spots but i don't want to ruin his nice clothes! some days i prefer to let the food get on the clothes (non staining foods... like ones that just turn to mush or are hard to get off of baby skin lol) and some days i prefer to do nakey... like tonight... heck, the babies are still tinted red after a nice bath! i would hate to see what would have happened to thier clothes.. and when you have to buy 2 of EVERYTHING (sometimes 3!) you don't want anything to get ruined! it gets pricey fast.

Oh my gooodness, Tab, don't feel like you need to explain a darn thing. Some people must live a charmed and immaculate life, I suppose... Poor kids. :giggle:
We had spaghetti for dinner last night. I should have taken pictures, too. DD was using a fork and was STILL a mess just like that. She prefers to dump her 'sketties onto the high chair tray, twirl it there, then use her free hand to help the fork into her mouth.

Your boys are stinkin' adorable! Messy 'sketty pics are CLASSIC! Annie has multiple! :hugs:
