I'm sitting here on my husband's laptop at the hossy, so I thought I'd write our birth story. What a day we've had....

Yesterday, I was in a hurry to get grocery shopping done and get the house stocked. I had to have all the laundry caught up and the house tidy. Little did I realize I was nesting:giggle:

I've been having false labor off and on FOREVER! So, when the contractions hit me at Target, I thought nothing of it. After supper, I was having contractions off and on, and again I didn't give it any thought. I just went to bed lastnight as usual. I had a few contractions that were strong in the middle of the night that woke me, but I went back to sleep.

At 1:00 a.m. approximately, I was awaken by a warm gush of amniotic fluid. I couldn't believe it!!!!:lostit: I reached over to my husband and told him my water had broke! He quickly got up in a panic and started searching for the phone to call our backup for our girls. We couldn't get anyone to answer the phone b/c it was the middle of the night:banghead: So, hubby put the girls in the van while I paced around outside, we got our bags and headed to the hospital. We were in a hurry, b/c I usually don't take long once things get going; although-I've never had my water break 1st!

Well, we were headed there; and my eldest daughter points out that it is a full moon!!!!!!!:giggle2: Someone pointed out that a full moon's pull can cause your water to break/I about died laughing.

We get to the hossy. It kind of got ugly from there. The nurse took me back to the birth sweet room and hooked me up to a monitor right away. This annoyed me, and I told her that I'd rather be up moving around. Well, she said; "If you're ready to have that baby, you can't be up moving around!" Then she noticed I was having a contraction, and I'm telling you; I didn't even know it!!!!! That is the weirdest thing ever! My doctor came and checked me/I was 8-9 cm, but the cervical lip was swollen around the head a bit.

My doctor broke my membranes a little more, and then the contractions really picked up!!!! I could feel them NOW!
Finally, it was time to push. The nurse didn't want me to use the squat bar! Thank God, my doctor came in and informed her otherwise!!!!!!:roflmbo: When I had told the nurse I wanted to use it, she just said; "Oh, don't sweat the small stuff!" I tell you, this nurse is one of the reasons there are sooooooo many homebirths to write about!!

I informed her that it was important to ME! My doctor came in and pushed the cervical lip off of the head as I was bearing down. Then she helped ease the head out. This part HURT!!!!!! But soon baby was out, and I was holding my precious new son!!!!!Praise God for his goodness.

My placenta came out complete! I was bleeding heavy for quite awhile and needed pitocin. I'm doing fine now. Baby Xavier is nursing fabulously, and under the heat lamp to help him regulate his temperature. He's a bit cool.

His big sisters love him so, and so do Dad and Mom!!!

Well, that's my story. We are very blessed. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

BTW/there's a picture of our precious boy under the Due in July forum.
