So i had a doc appt today at 1:30pm and i was 2cm. 80%. Went home and at 9pm my water broke; haha..i thought i had to go pee...called the doc she said for me to come in since i'm 35wks. They checked me at 10:30pm and i was 6cm 80%.

Well now it is 5am and i'm still 6cm.:banghead:

When i came in i asked if i could walk around and she said yes after the monitored the baby for 30min. Well they've been monitoring the whole time and for some reason they are now saying i can't walk.

How am i supposed to progress if i can't do what i know works? I REFUSE to be put on pit, because that is easy for them. Oh and my contractions have basically stopped.:banghead: :banghead:

Sorry just a little vent while i seat here.

You must have gotten stuck with a shift change. I would unhook the monitors myself and get up and walk. You are NOT their prisoner. GL!

the nurse just told me; it was because my water broke and they HAVE to monitor the baby. WHAT!!!???? I can't wait until i see my doc this morning.

oh yeah and my dh is snoring beside me on the chair/bed thing; it is REALLY starting to annoy me.

Find the charge and ask her. Wake your hubby up (it's almost 7am there) and ask him to start making noise. The longer you wait, the longer the precedent for them to do whatever the heck they want is set.

:yeahthat: momma it is your body and your baby and your innate intelligence telling you what your body needs for you to do to get that baby out. they may get cranky with you, but they won't throw you out, so unhook those monitors and get to the hall walking:thumbsup: The nurses will prob be happy once your contractions start up again d/t the physical activity.

:yeahthat: YOU CAN REFUSE ANYTHING. Including the monitor. They might not like it but  to them.

They did this with me with my first. My waters broke and 35 weeks and I was not progressing, 12 hours later they started the pit. They wouldn't let me leave the bed and I knew no better and went with it. I had IVs and monitors everywhere it seemed.

You are not a prisoner, as polite as you can be. Tell the nurse you are not asking her you are telling her to remove the monitors so that you can walk around and do what is natural for your body. Being stuck in a bed is not natural and no wonder the labor isn't not progressing.

Good luck I know exactly how you feel, I was there once!

talked to my doctor; i have to keep the i.v. in because they are giving medicine for strep B, but everything else is gone; and i can move around:goodvibes:
She said that she would rather deliever me than the on-call doctor (she has a 4hr procedure starting at noon) so she said not to do anything major until 5pm:roflmbo: i gave her a goofy look and said okay. She laughed and said; i can hope can't i.

I like your doctor. Make sure she tells them what's what before she leaves! GL!

She is known around the ward as the doctor you don't mess with; and if you do; you better have a REALLY good reason to go against her orders:giggle:.

She allowed me to eat breakfast; and she will check me at noon and tell me if i can have lunch; depending on how far i have/have not progressed.

Sounds like your Dr is awesome!

Definitely have your hubby get on the nurses case when they do something you don't like - that is his job right now. Making sure all of your needs are met!

Just came across this thread. Have you tried any nipple stimulation? Similar to pitocin, it releases oxytocin.

Just a thought. I Hope things are going well now.

What worked for me was getting in the shower, and nipple stimulation. I was in the same situation, my water broke, so I was "on the clock"

Are you at Baylor Grapevine? If so, they are sticklers. They held our son hostage in the nursery b/c we didn't want the vit. K shot.

How long is the IV going to stay in you? I had to have IVs put in both at the hossy birth and at the birth center birth for the Group B Strep, but it was just one bag of IV and as soon as it finished, they removed it.

eek; yep we are. Did they give it to him? We hadn't had the chance to type up the birthing plan for the baby; so i'm afraid he is going to get the eye goop, vit. K and hep B shot.

they didn't give it to him.
My Dr. is Dr. Walters and we had 3 of ours there. We never typed up a birth plan. We just made sure we told every nurse we had and my husband followed them all to the nursery. We just had to talk to the on-call ped. about the shot so he could try and talk us out of not wanting it.They will say they won't circumcise without it, but if you want the circumcision tell them you want the plasti-bell. There is minimal (usually no bleeding), so not having the shot wouldn't matter.

the hep b shot you have to sign a sheet to give them permission to give it (atleast at baylor grapevine). Just make sure your doc and the nurses are told what you want. Your doc sounds great- he/she will make sure they don't do anything against your wishes.
