There is so much conflicting advice for a new parent!:banghead: When did you start feeding your LO yogurt? My SIL and MIL have said how risky it is to give babies dairy before 12 mos., but I've been reading up and I asked my ped. and I can't figure out why. I know no eggs, and cow's milk isn't nutritious (not nec. harmful?) but what about yogurt? Thanks mamas.

Here's some info for you about yogurt. My DD started having yogurt at about 9 months (she started solids at 6 months). HTH

And yogurt is full of probiotics...so healthy for even the young digestive systems. We were advised to feed yogurt when our little one had a bad case of diahrea to help "balance" his system back out.

if you do decide to do yogurt, do all you can to avoid all the ones with added sugar - you can make wonderful yummy yogurts at home using plain yogurt and adding your own fruit/s :D

Super Foods baby food recc. yogurt at 7 mths, and it has a recipe to make your own yogurt. AlthoughI havent tried it, too much work I think. We use organic whole milk plain yogurt mixed with a veggie or fruit. You can add nutritional stuff to it as well, like flax seed oil, kelp etc.

Thanks so much mamas for sharing your experience and mommy-wisdom. I think I will start it in a couple of weeks.

DD is 8 months and she has had yogurt since about 6 months I think.
She also had icecream already (thanks to MIL), and is just fine. She has no reactions to any foods and loves both yogurt and icecream (vanilla is the only kind she's had so far)
