LOL! Yeah, sunny....what's that like again?
Welcome! I'm fairly new to DS too. We've only been Cding for about 6 months but totally love it.
If you are interested at least a few of us DS mamas will be having a real-life swap/meet and greet on August 13th in Wasilla.

Gotta tell you, ladies, I don't see how you can stand living on base. I mean, I hate that we spend so much in gas for DH to drive to work (and he works on the backside of the backside of base), but I couldn't stand living on base.

We are getting ready to head out of town, but maybe sometime when the kids and I are down on base we can have a mini get-together at the park by Burger King or something. Or another one, if it works better. I know there are several playgrounds down there.

I love living on base! We had a house in S. Anchorage (off of Abbot) for 2 years and while I do miss it the house we have on base is much larger. Plus I love not worrying about a rising gas bill every month!

Sorry I missed the meet up...Wasilla is a little far for me to drive. DD is in dance and they are having a performance at the state fair and I'm DREADING driving there. I'm not sure if I even want to go. :(

The drive really isn't bad. From base to the fairgrounds should only be about a 45 minute drive or so. Actually, that depends on which housing you're in on base. Are you near the commissary or over closer to Government Hill? From the commissary to the State fairgrounds should only be about 45 minutes.

I am jealous, though, of what people are paying for fuel here in Michigan. Their gas is less than $4 a gallon and their diesel is about what AK is paying for unleaded. And I miss my commissary noodles. Isn't that weird?

I LOVE living on base!! It is bigger and nicer than we could afford off base!! We live in Moose Crossing and often have playgroups at our house. Please pm me if you would like to come over sometime!!
