I really want to use cloth pads while Im in the hospital. I start to break out after a couple days of being in disposible pads. How many would I need to get me through the days Im going to be there? Should I just go ahead and use the disposible pads until I get home and then switch just to save the hassile of taking and using all the pads at the hospital and then not having any at home?

Any help would be great!

I LOVE cloth pads. I had a terrible time with the disposables after DS' birth in 06 and that's what got me originally into cloth pads.
I am planning a homebirth and my midwives want me to use a certain kind of (gel-free) disposable so they can gauge blood loss for the firt 24 hours.
After that I am definitely back to (my own brand) cloth pads.

How long is the average stay at the hospital? Cost may be a factor. If you can wash them every other day you won't need as many as if you wash after 3 days, etc.
One way to save might be to use sposies for the first few hours when bleeding is heavy and then switch to cloth after that?
It's such an individual thing it's hard to predict how many you'll go through. I see people suggesting 12 a lot but it also depends on your flow, the absorbency of the pad, etc.

I'm from the August EDD board :) Seeping over here since my LO has decided that she loves my womb so much she isnt going to come yet lol.

I plan to use cloth pads at the hospital. The first few hours I will keep the sposie on but once I go to the bathroom for the first time, I will switch.

I make (and sell) my own, so I'm making myself at least 12 of them to take to the hospital since I wont know how heavy I am bleeding.

As far as I know the hospitals here won't allow cloth as they cannot gauge blood loss. Sure would be more comfy though!

That reminded me- after my first ds was born my blood pressure was pretty low (which ended up being normal for me, and didn't indicate a problem) so the nurse was digging through the trash can and checking the pads to see how much I had bled!

I'm going to a birth center for this one, and will only be there a few hours after the birth. I plan on using sposies for the first several hours until it starts to let up a little, then switch to my cloth.
