I posted in the which nb dipes thread, but thought to start a new thread on the subject of carriers. I have a sling (maya) and a Beco (in morning glory) that I LOVE, and I just ordered a Zolo pouch. I am looking at wraps and since I live in FL, I am thinking about a vatanai. It's hot and humid even for a NOV baby! We didn't wrap with our first, but I am looking forward to trying it, it's so snuggly!
Anyone else looking for wraps/carriers? :goodvibes:

I am! I just got a black hotsling off ebay. I chose it because it seems really simple and it's relatively cheap. I don't know how much I'll actually use one. I work in a 3 hour a day daycare, and half of the 4-10 kids each day don't speak English, so I'd like to keep my baby very close to me at ALL TIMES. I've used a snugli and they seem bulky. You certainly can't stuff it in your diaper bag. They work fine I guess, but the little babies always seem like their head is going to flop around unless I strap them in so tight I'm afraid they can't breathe. I can't afford an expensive wrap/carrier, and I need to be able to use it quickly. That's why I chose the hotsling. I'll probably only use it at work, or possibly functions where I don't actually want to let others hold my baby!

I have a Moby, a Maya ring sling, and I just got my Beco Butterfly. I would like to also make a pouch sling to add to the collection. I've never tried any of these with little babies before so it should be interesting. I didn't start wearing dd1 until she was 10 months.

I just bought a Moby wrap from Target. I am really excited about it. I also have a ring sling that I bought when I had my first DD (second baby) that I will most likely use for this babe too, I can't remember what brand it is though, just the one you can by at Babies R Us.

I have a sling that my mother in law got me at a garage sale. It's a nice one but, nothing I would of bought. I also have a Patum (spelled wrong I think) carrier. I love this but, it's not for a newborn. I also just bought a maya pouch here. I can't wait for that as I wanted a pouch and it was such a good deal. :)

I am looking at getting a Sleepy Wrap to use the first 6 months or so. They look so cozy. They have a ton of pictures on the website and it looks so soft and yummy. I used a Peanut Shell with DS and I didn't like it. Anyone want to buy a barely used one??:goodvibes:
I also have a carrier for outside braving the weather up here. It is kind of like a Bjorn. I only use it with babe facing me.
I am thinking about getting a Beco Butteryfly for later on so I can put the new babe on my back.

I adore the new Beco Butterfly's. Will also try to pick up a gently used sling or Moby Wrap. Gotta do a lot more research on babywearing.

I primarily used a homemade ring sling with my babies before...from the first week on. We've added a Beco 4th gen., a Beco Butterfly, a homemade gauzy wrap, and a DUO sash type (like the Beco Obi). I think that all of these will work well with the new one coming. :-)

I have a hotsling that I used with #1 and #2, and a babyhawk that I used tons with #2.. This time around I added a Didymos Lars wrap to my carrier collection and I am really excited about using a wrap. I practiced with my 21 mo old when I first got it, but I can't wait to try some of the tiny baby carries with it.

that's awesome that you can still wear your toddler!! I won't even try now.. I feel so huge and over-burdened without an extra appendage! Still, it's great that you can! Youl'll get alot of use out of it. Those vatayani's (sp?)are beautiful! Congrats.

I had decided on a Sleepy Wrap, but now it's between that and a Wrap 'n Wear.

I have a sleepywrap and I just ordered a custom Amauti (traditional Inuit coat that allows you to carry baby on your back) for winter, as it is soon to get VERY cold up here :brrr: (I live north of the 55th parallel). I figure those should get me through to spring and then I'll look into something for the warmer weather :goodvibes:
