Has everyone arranged who will be watching your other LOs while you're in the hospital, if you're doing the hospital birth route?

Packing the hospital bag....supposed I should start thinking about that one, too. Anyone else?

Washing clothing and diapers?

I have thought about who will watch ds but haven't actually arranged it. It somewhat depends on the time of day. If I need to leave in the middle of the night my neighbor offered to come over so we don't have to wake Joey up then my mom can come get him in the morning so Sonya, my neighbor, can get to work. Once the baby is born I want DH to go home for the night and disrupt Joey as little as possible...and get out of my hair in the hospital. He drove me a little crazy last time. lol:blush:

need to wash the clothing and diapers, lanolize the wool, etc and suppose this weekend would be a good time. the weather is finally forecasted to be lovely so I could hang it all on the line in the fresh air to dry. The clothes are in the drawers but it was only to be able to unpack and see what I have and what I need. I am planning on visiting friends in Freeport this weekend and will stop into Carter's and Osh Kosh to pick up some things for the babe and for ds for school/fall.

I've already started the birthday shopping for ds. I am due Oct 15th and his 4th b'day is Oct 21 so I want that all said and done, wrapped and everything. I want to do a party for him but that could be a bad idea this year. lol

I have 2 birthdays before my edd to get ready for. Plus my mom is coming over and her birthday is the day before my edd..

I still have to move, don't even really have a place lined up yet.

I never pack a bag, haven't yet why start now.

My mom will be here to keep the kids, but I am trying to have a friend watch them if it is day time so my mom can be there, this is her last grandbaby(unless God blesses us with another) and she was there for her 1st(my sisters oldest) and none since then so it would be nice. Even nicer figuring she is flying to Korea from the US again for to have a baby(she came over when I had Teo too).

I need to get baby clothing, I have nothing under 12 months in the house.
Diapers I have are ready.
Need to get the covers in(they are ordered) and make some longies(sweaters are sitting on my serger).

That is it, well other then come up with a name..

I ended up throwing baby clothing in the wash today. It's gorgeous and non-existant humidity today so may as well do it. One less thing on my list. I'll hang it on the line as soon as it's done going wishy washy.

I haven't done any of the "final details" stuff. I've talked to a few family members about watching the boys when the time comes to go to the hospital. We've been lucky so far that it's always happened during the day/evening and on a weekend but one of my biggest fears is it happening in the middle of the night during the week. Or while dh is travelling. He will be gone Monday through Thursday for the next 5 weeks....and my due date is only 8 1/2 weeks away.

I usually pack the bag while I'm in labor wasting time before we go to the hospital.

Diapers are all ready but I have to wash and lanolize all of the wool. Baby clothes are all in totes in the back of storage right now. I'll make dh pull them out this weekend so I can start organizing that.

I have so much to do still. I don't even want to think about it. I have family coming in tonight and some more for the weekend so I have been busy this week getting the house clean. I needed a reason to clean really good. LOL.

I wanted to get it done before we go to Ohio for what was going to be the last time until sometime next year but then I found out my sister is getting married on September 27th so that will be another trip to Ohio. I am super excited but it takes away another week of planning, laundry...you know all the stuff that goes into a weekend away. Plus now I am busy helping her get things together for her big day. They just decided the beginning of this week to tie the knot and thought 6 weeks was long enough to plan an intimate gathering. I agree but I feel obligated to help her. :giggle:

Anyways, I still have to go through all of the baby clothes I have and separate the boy from the GN and find the few girly pieces that I have and have those ready too.

I am having a HB so no need for a bag, dipes I'm ready because we use prefolds and BGOS.

I still have a bunch to do, but while I still have 10.5 weeks until the due date, I wasn't ready for Adrian so I have a major urge to be completely ready by 36 weeks this time (oh wow that is 6.5 weeks away!). I am in the middle of making wipes but I'm not very motivated this week. I'm really behind on laundry and having DH home all day really disrupts my routine. I'm hormonal and want to kick him out of the house!

We have a friend who is going to watch Adrian if we need her to, she lives around the corner so that is good, but she has a little one of her own and would take Adrian back to her house. I am still hoping that he sleeps through it so we can wake him up either just before or just after baby arrives. I want him here, for some reason it's really important to me.

I don't plan to pack a bag, but I will have some things together in case we have to transfer so that DH could come home and grab them. Need to order my birth pool and my birth kits and get a few more supplies.

Diapers and clothes have been washed and organized since my last nesting urge, but I will wash them again at 35/36 weeks anyway. I have more prefolds to order but I'm waiting until next month to do that. And besides that there is really only deep cleaning - the cleaning the baseboards and scrubbing the floors type stuff.

Since I'm having a "high risk" pregnancy and have been told I should expect to go into labor at any time...my "to do" list is mostly accomplished. The clothes and diapers are washed....the wool is lanolized....the bags are packed....we have friends who will watch DD for us until my parents can fly in...which is the tricky part since we don't know when I will go into labor. I'm currently working on putting meals in my freezor for after the baby is born...but that basically consists of making larger amounts of food when possible and freezing the extra. I'm hoping that by being prepared as early as possible, it will actually make my baby stay put a little longer...not that I'm superstitious, but I feel like if I don't have everything ready, he will decide to come early......sort of like a watched pot never boils theory...I'm ready for him any time so maybe he will NOT try to come early :)

My to do list is about a mile long. :giggle2: I think if I complete half of it before Max arrives I will be doing good!

Congratulations to you that are almost done with your lists though! That is great! :lostit:

I have it set up with my parents to drop of DD at their house on the way down to the hospital if it's not during a workday. My mom has already gotten the okay from work to take a few days off to watch her at the last minute, so we're good there. If it happens during a workday, we'll be calling my dad's cell phone and he'll come over to pick her up at the hospital since he works near there.

I washed all of the clothes that we have so far and have them in the dresser ready to go. I also prepped my BG 3.0s that I bought, and have them all stuffed and waiting in the nursery.

I set up the bassinet in our room and set up the swing and Pack N Play in the living room.

I haven't packed our bags yet. I am definitely going to do that this week, since this is 36 weeks for me, and I don't want to be rushing around frantically at the last minute.

I finalized things with my neighbor and my mom this week so we're all set on who will watch Joey.
I still need to get the carseat out and wash it and adjust the straps. I need to get the swing out of the shed and wash that and put new batteries in it, too.

All in all I'm feeling pretty good about where I'm at and I'm only 33 weeks. Joey was born at 38 weeks.

Oh yeah, the carseat... forgot about that. I will add it to my list and wash the cover and straps. I need to order a new piece of foam for it, too, seeing as Adrian destroyed the last one.

I ordered 4dozen prefolds yesterday... 2 doz orange edge and 2 doz yellow edge. At least I know I can recoup my costs on the nb ones.

I am getting there. I am due oct 4th though and will go no later than the last week of sept so I have max 3 weeks left of this pregnancy. If i have not gone by then they will do a c/s because he will be too big for me to deliver full-term. I told dh last night, you put him me now you get him out! :giggle2: I wish all the old wives tales worked for getting labor going! It is still fun to try.

I did pack a bag last weekend but it has waaaay less than the last 2 times. i bought some new pjs and a couple of sport nursing bras and tanks with built in shelf bras. I got all the little travel size toiletries because I hate what the hospital has there:yuck: ....... and thats about it. As far as a bag for Bennett goes, I packed some cloths and a mess of pfs and pockets but I am waiting for my wool wash and lanolin from naturally luxe  to get here to get those ready and packed also. The car seat is assembled but I will have dh actually put it in while i am at the hospital probably.

I finnished the bassenett bumper and quilt and made the matress for it (it is 60 years old and this will be gen #3 to use it so I needed a shape/size you can't just buy) Ben will probably sleep with us in the beginning anyway. the nursery is somewhat done, the closet shelves and floor need to be painted, dh painted the closet walls last weekend........ I guess we are doing pretty good. But we only have a max of 3 weeks left :lostit: so by now we need to be pretty ready.

Oh yeah, the carseat... forgot about that. I will add it to my list and wash the cover and straps.

I've heard you aren't supposed to wash the straps on carseats because it weakens them...I think if you contact the company you can order new straps instead. just a thought.

FancifulFanny

I think you can hand wash them - just not machine wash like the cover portion. I always have because well, baby puke on them and stuff. But they're not supposed to go through the machine with the aggitator and all.

mama2logan&evan
09-04-2008, 05:51 AM
Yep, you can wash them with water and mild soap, just not in the washing machine. It does weaken them. I just washed my carseat not too long ago. Evan had really bad reflux and I had no idea how much crusty spit up was on the cover still :yuck:  I thought I had cleaned it as it happened but I guess I had missed some.

I get to move the 8th of Oct so I can't do much more.
I did make the longies for the baby, one pair done one almost done. 2 Gowns ready to be sewn. That is it. My shower is in 2 weeks, my 1st ever..

I've got the car seat base installed in my van, got all the clothes washed. Still working on building/sewing my diapers/wipes. I need to decide what to put in my hospital bag. I'm finishing up my Hypnobabies this week, and will be in maintenance mode until the birth. I need to lanolize the couple of wool pieces I have, and get to work on making more.
I also only have half of my house cleaned, need to do the other half, then go back and do the "deep cleaning". My mom's coming after the birth so it's gotta be mostly clean.

hahaha I am the opposite! :giggle2: My MIL is coming and when she gets here I know she will take over cleaning! I love her. She is the type that will do the laundry and dishes and all of that and not be jugemental about it. Not that I will elt the house get dirty or anything but i don't feel like I HAVE TO CLEAN IT either. Although cleaning is keeping me active right now.

We've got about 5 weeks till deliver (being indused to avoid GIANT BABY!!)

My MIL will take care of Claire while we're in the hospital and I'm with Fanny I want DH to GO HOME for the night so I can have some peace and quite! I know that sounds awful but he snores so much I'll need my sleep!

I guess I didn't realize how much I still have to do.
I've washed most of the new boy clothes and his dresser is pretty organized. I've been busy ordering covers and dying prefolds (this is the first time we're CDing a newborn so I have PF's and fitteds).
I need to pack a bag still.
I still need to order some GOOD nursing bras - the one's I have are really not strong enough to hold these girls up - I hate spending the money on this!! I'd rather be buying more diapers or a new carrier!

I guess I should pack dd's bag too so it's ready.

I need to wash the cover to the carseat and adjust the straps - Thanks Bella for that reminder!!

I want to set up the pack and play downstairs and set up an area downstairs for the baby.

We need to order a new stroller - the insurance company sent us a nice check to replace the carseat and stroller from the accident. We got the carseat (Graco Nautilist) now we just need to get a stroller - I think we're going to go straight to a double Graco Quattro Duo stroller, they are really nice - although I'd love a Phil and Ted one... the check wasn't THAT big!

OH... my list is getting longer and longer!!

DonnaMarie - I have some sportsbra type nursing bras from last time and I'll wear those until my milk comes in then I have already informed dh that I am going and having a fitting and getting probably 3 good nursing bras. I don't care if they cost a hundred bucks a pop. I had such a horrid time with chronic plugged ducts and mastitis last time that the bars are cheaper than all those hospital bills from the resulting lumpectomy not to mention formula for the baby! He had to agree.:giggle:

*Last week I did a deep clean on the house,
*washed baby clothes that were not NWT since the gender is a surprise.
*I washed diapers a few weeks ago and those are all in the cabinet ready and waiting.
*I am planning a homebirth and if by chance the kids are awake, my mom, stepdad and little sister will be here to help out.
*Birth kit and pool is ready
Now I am just trying to finish up my bedroom and the kids' bedrooms. I am doing a complete makeover in them. All new paint/beds and bedding. Quite a big task to take on with little to no help and not much more time! I *think* I can finish it up beforehand!

Can I play?!

I am a FTM, so I am overwhelmed with all the preparation! I will have my mom here the first week to help and she is a ball of energy, so I don't feel like I have to have everything single thing prepped for baby...

That said, I need to;
- switch over laundry soap and start washing all of our clothes, his diapers and NB stuff and a towel and changing pad cover in Charlie's.

- put the carseat in - make sure it fits on stroller. practice with getting stroller in and out of car!

- Figure out how to swaddle, put on a prefold, and wear baby sling!

- Semi-pack hospital bag, or have an idea of what I want to bring

- Freeze a few more meals

- Find a good muffin recipe to bake as distraction in early labor (baking relaxes me, and I figure I can bake up a batch of healthy energy muffins for the doula and hubby and I while I am laboring!)

Ummm. that's it? I am getting so excited - 3.5 weeks to go!

We waited till we were ready to leave the hospital to put the carseat in (read: FORGOT TO PUT THE CARSEAT IN OR DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THE DIRECTIONS); the intern that escorted us out helped us secure it correctly. :giggle:

My mom is a ball of energy, but one that always rolls in an opposite direction than I am, so I'm a little jealous of the help you'll be getting. ^^;;

I'll play!

things TO DO (what I've done, I've already forgotten, it's what needs to be done...)

- clean house. especially the guest room and kitchen. DH's parents are within a day's drive, so I have no doubt they'll be up as soon as they can. The last time, they cleaned up a lot, and when we got home, I felt terrible. ><

- charge the camera batteries and clear out their memory.

- wash the diapers and GN babygear

- make sure the carseat is clean and still working

- clear out the freezer/fridge to make freezer meals

- prewash, clean/sanitize the BF pump and bottles, get new nipples for those

- maybe knit a soaker. ><

- plan out DD's birthday cake and presents (yes, due date is supposedly DD's birthday - this will be FUN)

- [-]preorder WotLK so that I don't have to walk into the local gamestore with a toddler and a baby carrier the day of release[/-] I mean. Come up with more things for the parents to do when they visit, and realize that we still don't watch TV because we're on the computer too much to justify paying for TV, too.

... I know there's more to the list, but if I start packing now, I'll be too excited to be of any use to anyone for the next month. ><
