you need to head over to MDC which is short for mothering.com
here's the link to the homebirth forum. there is a ton, ton, ton of info and helpful mamas. good luck. and i wish you the best!!
Yep, MDC is the place! I won't post a mile long list of links because they are all over at MDC for you anyway!
I planned a homebirth for my third and I can tell you the care was sooo completely different and wonderful compared to my other two (both c/s). It was great laboring in my own living room, and in my own bed, and using my own bathroom, and not having strangers come in and prod me. :) I didn't get my hb in the end, but if I had it to do over, I'd still plan for it, for sure.

I had a home waterbirth with my first baby. It was an amazing, amazing experience. I wouldnt' want to do it any other way. I hope to have hb's for all my babies. I also did hypnobirthing, which I highly recommend (esp for hb). Gentle Birth Choices by Barbera Harper is an excellent read on the topic.

I have had 7 HB's, the last 6 UC, after having my first born twins in the hospital. Nothing, I mean nothing can compare to my amazing, fulfilling, empowering births at home.

Having our 2nd homebirth in a couple of days here and I totally recommend it.
You get to pee poop eat walk shower all in your own house and not under someone else's bossy policies. :goodvibes:
The hardest part is defending your decision against fear mongerers. You'll do great! Come here and if you are feeling the "What if's" come creeping up on you :hugs:

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!
I know that we wanted to do it here (iowa) and it is against the law in our state to have a MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL (midwife, etc.) attend a home birth. They would loose their lisence. At least this was what my midwife (through OB clinic) to me. I was bummed.
So look into your states laws.
This of course doesn't mean that you couldn't have one, just depends on who attends and legal crap - which sucks I think (IMO)
good luck to you!!!!

I had both my babies at home and had wonderful experiences. I think men are very fact-based and are more likely to be persuaded by a logical argument than anything else. I highly recommend the book "Thinking Woman's Guide to Better Birth" because it is very logically organized and has medical references for everything stated--very research-based.

I am having my second homebirth in a few days. We are using the same midwives we used 2 years ago with DS. They are awesome!
We interviewed more than one group of midwives and with these we really clicked. That's way important - especially when trying to convince DH that you and baby are safe, etc.
Good Luck!

I just had my first HB 5 weeks ago and it was amazing.
I highly recommend Ina May's Guide to Childbirth book - a wealth of great information!!!
