My son is CD'ed at home and disposible at daycare. I've not pushed the potty training issue at all, but he has pee'd in the potty several times. :goodvibes: I'm thinking about going for it full force since he's interested and we have time now. We've been vacationing and dh has been traveling a lot. Life will return to normal now for a while. I think it's prime time.

So, do I ditch the dipes? Let him wear trainers b/c he can get those on and off? :headscratch:

I don't think we necessarily did this the "right" way or anything. :goodvibes: But what seemed to help us to potty train DD was to go ahead with the underwear and do a lot of washing because accidents are inevitable. We tried to take the pressure off of the situation and not make a big deal about accidents.

We started with the little kiddo potty nearby at all times. (It camped out in the living room for a while. And I even bought one for upstairs too!) Granted, it makes company a little uncomfortable when your toddler goes potty anywhere other than the "bathroom" but it greatly eliminated accidents in the early stages. Then we gradually moved it closer and closer to the bathroom.

The other thing that really helped was to frequently have potty breaks (every 15 min or so) in the early stages. And to provide something fun and interesting to do while they're at the potty (like a good book, interesting toy, etc.) We had a basket of seashells that dd loved to play with while she sat at the potty so she usually didn't mind going. :goodvibes:

I won't lie, there was a good 2.5 or 3 weeks that seemed so frustrating! But then it was like a cloud lifted and she was potty trained. :lostit:

I would say "yes" to trainers. (We did continue diapers for outtings for a while though. Totally up to you.)

My daughter is in that same situation. I tried last weekend with the underwear. She even was dry at night and woke me up at 4 to go. Then we went out in the morning until abut 11 and I knew she had to go when we got home (mind you... I brought her to the public toilet a few times and she didn't go) When we got home she threw a huge fit about not wanting to go. She threw herself on the ground, kicked her feet, and smacked me. By that time I put her underwear up and said she was going to her room to settle down. When she got to her room, she stood there and clear as can be said "I going potty now!". She wet her pants. I gave up after that and she wore diapers the rest of the weekend. It's very hard to train especially since I work full time. Stella just turned 2 in september so I guess we can wait a little longer.

Sorry I'm not much help. I'll be watching this thread,
