 My poor baby has the worst.rash.ever! She has been having mucous diarrhea for the past 24 hours. Now we are the point of pure mucous coming out. Her bum is covered with acid burns. She is just MISERABLE at diaper changes. She is eating, no fever, playful and happy until she grabs her prefold and tears up and says Mommy I pee'd. I have tried soaking in a tub, she pooped in the tub twice in 10 mins! So going without a diaper is out of the question. I tried creams with no luck. The doctor said to use an anti-acid on her bum to ease the acid from the poop but there is no improvement and frankly I think it is getting worse. She waddles around the house because her privates are so inflamed and irritated.

What can I do??? She is just so miserable I hate to see her like this!

Goodness... not much advice here, sorry. Maybe try putting her diapers on really loose so the poo isn't right against her bum. Has she eaten anything weird lately? Food alergies? Lactose intolerance? I'd be worried that she was getting dehydrated.

Are you nursing? Breast milk, can help with rashes. Other then that I have no ideas...:hugs:

Have you tried some kind of barrier cream - like a vaseline to keep the poo and pee from touching her skin? Maybe put a fleece liner in her diaper to help pull pee away from her ASAP so it doesn't hurt so much?

You might not like this idea but when we have bad rashes we take a day outside butt free with a TON of vaseline rubbed on the butt. Or soak in the tub with baking soda mixed in the water. If you have to go naked inside maybe line the floor with newspaper or something in the room you'll be in (sounds silly but at least LO isn't hurting :( Hmmm- sorry mama :(

:hugs:

DS had a bad rash a few weeks ago. It was all raw and was pussing a little bit. He too screamed when we changed him. Oh it was awful!

We tried airing, desitin, and butt paste. None of that worked.

Aquaphor worked in one overnight! They make a "baby" kind, but we already had the regular kind, so we used that instead. At the drug store, I compared the "baby" kind versus the regular kind. The ingredients looked to be exactly the same, so the regular kind was cheaper. It's in w/ the dry skin lotion. Here is what it looks like...

It's mostly petroleum jelly. It's kind of a heal all. My niece had raw hands one winter. She would wash her hands and not rinse the soap off properly, so her hands looked horrible. She was spending the night, and my mom put the Aquaphor on them. The next day, her hands looked fine!

Can't use this w/ cloth though (unless you use a liner). We just used disposable for a couple of days. I have used it sense w/ cloth and a liner though.

I also us this on my hands in the winter time.

Good luck mama! Oh I know how it breaks your heart having to change your LO when it hurts!

Thanks! I tried the Aquaphor combined with the Mylanta on top and cornstartch and it has helped a ton. Plus the diarrhea is starting to ease off...

I have no idea where the poop issue is coming from. She is 17 months old and no dairy due to her picky tastes... her diet is not new or changed... its just mucous poop all.the.time.

I am going to the doctors again tomorrow.

Thanks again for the help!
