View Full Version : My first appointment was sort of a letdown :(

So keep in mind that I'm a totally emotional pregnant lady-- but I totally cried on the way home from my appointment today. I had DH take part of the day off of work, which is a big deal for his job, because I wanted him to be there for the first ultrasound.
When we got there she checked me, cervix looked good, uterus felt about 8 weeks...then she asked when we'd like to schedule our ultrasound because the tech was out that day. :(
I was SOOO geared up to see the baby's heartbeat any moment that I almost cried in front of my nurse midwife when she asked me that. Plus DH can't take another day off of work so soon so I'll have to go by myself. On the plus side, I made it for Friday so I won't have too long to wait, and I KNOW I should just be happy that everything looked good. Ugh, like I said...the emotions are hitting full force now. I'll feel better Friday after I see that precious heartbeat. Thanks for listening to my preggo-rant. :giggle:

I almost could have written this post.. My first one was about a week ago and due to insurance flubs, I wasn't able to get any blood work done, or an ultrasound because they "didn't want me to pay out of pocket"...so he just felt my uterus and said "yeah, your between 8-10 weeks"..and that was pretty much it. I was soo sad.

I can feel your pain. I won't have the hubs by my side for my ultrasound in 3 weeks either. :( Have them print lots of pictures if they will so at least he can see those...

I would be crying too mama! I'm sorry it was such a disappointment. I think I probably would've been sick from the letdown of all that anticipation too. :hugs:

Aw, I'm so sorry :hugs: I know what you mean, I like DH to be there for EVERYTHING. It's just so much more exciting when you can share it with someone who is just as excited as you! Can you make a later appt and your DH just take of an hour or so of work??

You guys are awesome. :hugs: No, DH can't take an hour off of work because he works an hour away...but I feel a little better because I'm planning a mommy-big girl date with my 3yo DD (who is honestly more like a 5 year old). She has been SO excited to see pics of the baby, so I got a sitter for my little one and I'm just going to take her. She's actually excited to see me get my blood drawn too-- weird kid. :giggle2: We'll go out for ice cream after. Now I'm looking forward to it.:goodvibes:

Aw! I'm so sorry you didnt get to hear the heartbeat! But, I feel your pain. Last week my dh worked 80 hours straight (he's the cheif) so I think I'lll be going to most OB appts alone. And, we have a rambunctious 2 y/o and no babysitter but I'm okay with it!
