My friend in Northern California has been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. She will be undergoing radiation treatment and then taking Tamoxifen for 5 years. She was in the initial stages of a 2nd round of IVF when the cancer was detected, but has now been told she should never get pregnant because her type of cancer feeds on estrogen. She is going to freeze some embryos before she starts her cancer treatment and is interested in finding a surrogate mother to carry the embryo when she is done with her treatment (and then adoption if that doesn't work out). Unfortunately, she discovered that the cost for a surrogate mother is $100,000 and she can't afford that. She even looked into the surrogate mothers in India but believes they don't take frozen embryos. Does anyone have any leads/resources that might be helpful to her? She is devastated as she has been trying to have a child for the past couple years. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If she is religious, networking through her church can be a great place to find people who may be willing to do it just for expenses, not for profit. My heart goes out to your friend though.:grouphug:

I have always wanted to be a surrogate.WE had planned to after our first two children, but went on to have 2 more. Now we are done, for sure. How close is she wanting and what price range can she afford?
