We keep our dog up to date on vaxes, but the cat doesn't go outside, so I don't vaccinate him unless we are going to the vet for something else. It is way too traumatic to get him to the vet, and someone (usually me) ends up hurt every time.
We have our home study coming up, and they need a copy of the pet vax records. He is current to 2006 on everything, so obviously, they are going to want him updated. What specific vaxes do they look for in cats? Do I have to do all of them?
Thanks for any help.

When I was a foster parent I had cats and there was no vax requirements for them. FWIW I am in Michigan and we fostered through Lutheran Social Services.

We foster in SC and had to only show each of animals as current on rabies and that was all.

When we were up for our re-certification this past May we had to get both our cat and dog fully vaccinated. It ended up costing us over $500 for everything :banghead:

I'm in michigan also, and she asked me about vaccinations, and we said they go to the vet regularly but haven't gone in the last year, so we weren't sure if they were or weren't. (they've been fully up to date in the past, just not sure if there's been a booster we might have missed this last year). She said "okay" and kept going. We're expecting to get our license in the mail with in the next couple months, and haven't heard anything different.

where in Mi are you? Did you like Lutheran Social Services? We're going through DA Blodgett right now and don't have much to compare to.

If they make an issue about it you can ask them if they will accept a titer on your cats. They can draw blood and check for inoculations. I don't vaccinate my dogs or cats as long as their titers are good.
Just a suggestion.

We had to provide documentation that our cat was up to date on all vaccinations when we were initially certified and at our recert this year.

We have an indoor cat, and we have to show prof of vaccinations. We only give rabies and 1 other usually b/c she's indoors, and that has not been a problem.
