Do you have one? Do you like it? If so, what do you have? My mom wants to get my DD one for Christmas.

With DS we had a swing that went both directions and a small travel swing. I loved having a place to set DS where he would be happy so I could shower.

We had the Fisher Price Blue Fish Swing that swings both ways. DS was able to use it until he was almost one when we passed it on. It layes back for little babies and sits up more for bigger babies.

I'm not sure what brand travel swing we have but he used that every morning while I showered for his first 5 months of life. It is now at church in the nursery and he turns it on himself and gets in when he is tired there.

I'm not sure what a good one is, but I can tell you I hated this (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2815254) one. It looks like a great concept; small enough to fold up and put away when you're not using it, and can travel easliy, but it didn't work well for us at all. It didn't recline enough, so DD's head was always bobbling around. It also didn't swing very well. It ate batteries like crazy, and it would just randonly stop swinging all the time. DD didn't like it at all, and it was just taking up space, so we put it away when she was a few months old.

We have the fisher price rainforest one that swings side to side or back and forth. I love it, and so does my son-he's 9 months, and still takes one of his naps each day in it.

We also have the Fisher Price Rainforest swing and love it. We didn't get it until after Evan was born and he used it until he was pretty old. Now Christian naps in it during the day. I don't know what I would do without it.

I had both a fisher price open-top take-along swing and a full sized Graco swing. We had to stop using the fisher price open-top mini swing at around six months because my dd would grab the bars on the swing and stop it from swinging, so that was definetly a bummer. It was nice while we could use it though. We like the Graco full size one, it has sounds and plays music...but the sound quality is terrible.

Out of all the swings that we've had we loved the FP cradle swing the best like this one http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2452297 although the one we had was brown and blue. They do have one like this that plugs in and seems like it would be a great idea since they go through batteries like crazy.

I have a Graco swing that I used with both of my babes. I love it! It has an adjustable recline which is nice.

If I were to shop all over again, I would really try to find one that swings both ways and has an A/C adapter! (batteries are so pricey!)

We have the fisher price aquarium swing, it swings both ways, reclines, plays music and nature sounds, and has lights... seems like a lot but it is a life saver for us! Someone gave it to us when our dd was about a month old and very colicky! She loved it and would sleep so well in it! She is now 4 months and still naps in it often. I would totally recommend getting a swing. If you can find one that plugs in it will save you LOTS of money in batteries! Our takes 4 D batteries which cost a lot and we have had to change them about once a month. But I think that it is nice to have a swing that goes forward and sideways!!!

I guess it's possible that something was defective about the one I had, but one of the things I hated about it the most was that it didn't recline much at all. It was worthless until DD had decent head control. Did you have that problem?

Ive had a swing w/ each of my kids, and with my last baby we got a papasan, and OMG i LOVE it. it lays back (to the point where he is completely reclined) and goes side to side like a cradle for when he was little. after my first baby i really felt like the swing and the sling (and of course the carseat) were teh only really neccesary baby gear. but this swing is by far the best ive ever seen or used. my goddaugter is 19 months old and she will still occasionally nap in it. i don't think i will ever buy a different swing. my friend has teh fisher price rainforest one, and it is similar, but doesn't recline as completely. hth

We have this one: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3090973

DD was sleeping in it until 13 weeks or so. She hated it for a while and now she sleeps in it again.

We also had this one: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2878552

It has great features but DD hated it. We brought it back to the store.

i just put a rolled up receiving blanket around her head, or stole the thing out of the carseat. she didnt need it long, she was/is a strong baby. i needed the blanket support much longer in her bouncy seat.

I LOVE this swing as well. A friend of ours had it sent from Canada to Korea for us and we used the heck out of it. Unfortunately our son was too tall for it by 5.5 months (our son is a beanpole!).

With ds we had a little travel one. Don't think they sell it anymore because in baby world 3 1/2 years ago was a long time. He loved his swing. It really helped on those days I really just needed to take a shower or eat a meal without holding him.

We had a different one for dd. She hated it. She only wanted to be held.

dd1 love the cradle motion; she'd sleep for hours in her swing
dd2 is *okay* with the swing motion, but would rather be sitting up, watching everything
