We share lots of info here, mama! :goodvibes: This is a great place to ask questions about longies and shorties, for sure!
Are you looking for free patterns, or ones for purchase? There is a large variety out there. I believe that there's a sticky listing some patterns at the top of this forum. Also, many patterns are available for sale if you search hyenacart and etsy. :goodvibes:

I got the itchy fingers pattern off of www.ravelry.com. It's great I like it but I also bought the sheepy pants pattern and it's got WAY more detail and info. There's lots of great patterns out there--I have like 6 now and I plan on just combining a bunch of the ones I like to make pants/shorts! :)

I bought this pattern: http://www.adorabubbleknits.com/category_3/Knitting-Patterns.php
I started last night and what I love about it (I'm a new knitter also) is that there are videos for almost anything out of the ordinary. She also gives you the option of buying the pattern top down or bottom up and there are a ton of options for the cuff and waistband and even two leg styles. Hope this helps!

I use the adorabubbles pattern too. It lists a version for top down or bottom up, but you actually get both when you purchase so you have both options for the same price.
And her vidoes are very helpful!
I have the sheepy pants pattern but I prefer the adorabubbles I believe. And I'm a newbie self-taught kntter.
