Any advice on how to start saving money on groceries? Maybe how to start couponing and shopping sales? I am so jealous of all you ladies who save bundles on groceries. I like doing it but just moved to a new area (jacksonville, NC), dont know where to find the sale ads, etc. am planning on going out and buying a few papers tomorow so i can get coupons, how many copies of the sunday paper do you get? Do you recccomend those websites that help you match coupons to sales, etc? I know they have some fees associated.... The stores around me are:
The Commissary (I live on base)
Thats all. The commissary usually has some great prices but still would love to do more coupons and sale shopping if it will save us money. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appretiated. Thanks!!! Oh and PS we dont have a CVS here :yuck: but there is a Walgreens...

The commissary is where I do my primary shopping and when I do do coupons I make a killing there.
But I am interested in see what the stockpilers say....I would like to follow their lead too.
Also, find out if there is a SHARE program on your military base. We're army, so I'd go through Army Community Services to find out about the SHARE program. You'd probably go through the USO to find out if there is a SHARE program on base. I'd be willing to bet that there is, as there was one at Fort Bragg when we were there. It's basically a program where you pay a low cost for at least double the cost in food, monthly. You do have to do 2 hours of volunteer work, but that can be something as simple as working in your church nursery.
Quite honestly, I think you'd be wise to stick to the commissary for the most part, occasionally walmart. Food Lion doesn't do triples, and you don't have bloom or harris teeter near you.

I've had to learn how to shop wisely with the commissary being the only place available to buy groceries in US dollars.
if you go to www.commisaries.com you can look up your base's commissary. It shows all the sales going on which is great to match up to see what coupons to bring/look out for. If you register, you can look up the sale price they're actually charging for them!
