:banghead: ugh! I am almost 2 weeks postpartum from having a my 4th c section. I have been feeling great up until yesterday. I have a terrible sharp pain on the right side of my abdomen underneath where it hurts is a huge knot/lump. when i sit or lay down it doesn't hurt. but when i walk i have to limp and support my stomach by holding it in real tight or i would double over in pain. i have been taking my pain meds regularly and called my ob who said it was normal and that i have over done things. but i have my mil and mom taking care of my older 3 i have been not lifting anything other than the baby and sit when i hold my older children. if its not better by morning i think i may go to the er. anyone else experience this after a c section or know if this is normal??? i know the dr said my uterus was thin i dont know if this effects the healing process but have never felt pain like this after a cs before...

I'm no expert by any means since I've never had a c section but I am a nurse and I can tell you that what you're describing sounds a lot like a hernia. I would for sure get a second opinion at your earliest opportunity.

:hugs: I don't remember anything like that after my c-section. I also think you need to get a second opinion.

Yeah, call your Dr, if it doesn't feel right then it isn't. A hernia is a good theory, the sharp pain part. Good luck.

so my ob was open today and i made an appt to see him. he said the knot was sutures and nothing to worry about and that i need to do nothing and relax, lol (try that with 4 under 4). he said the sutures were pulling and would dissolve in 6 wks. he also told me to put on an ace bandage for support. i am allergic to codeine (sp?) so after baby he had prescribed darvocet anyways this doesn't touch the pain so i havent been taking it really. he then prescribed demerol, but i am scared to death to take it because i am afraid it is excreted in breastmilk. so i guess i will suffer with pain, please pray that this goes away soon!

You can look on kellymom.com to see about the darovecet.

:hugs: Mama. I'm glad you got it checked out and that it turned out to be "normal"
I have NFI why the doc would give you demerol though. That's like the worst pain med ever (the nurse in me won't be silenced  ) and I had no idea that there were docs out there who still prescribed it. I have no idea if it comes out in BM or not but I can tell you that it can have unpleasant side effects and is known to alter your state of consciousness - not so great when you're looking after lil kids IMO. :2cents:

Demerol is pure EVIL...I still shiver remembering the side effects... FWIW...I still feel those pains, and the other day I actually felt a ridge/bumps inside where why insicion is...ouch.
