DH and I are planning a trip to VA in May. The girls will be 8 months old by that time & I plan on them still being EBF. I am already having anxiety over the trip. There are no direct flights from where we live. Would it be worth it to drive four hours to a different airport in order to not have a layover? I know that there is usually a rule of only one infant per row, so how have you managed that? Did DH sit one row in front or behind you? Would you do cloth for the flight? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

we flew w/the boys at that age. and im not going to lie--it was hell. seriously hard. its not that they were loud and crying or anything, just BUSY! trust me, you want the layover. we thought it would be best to do a direct flight (mich-cali), but we were so very wrong. 5 hours in a plane with twinfants is HARD.

sorry to be such a scare-mongerer.

the plastic cups the airline serves drinks in were a big hit, they liked playing with those. books were good. get some new things to play with that you can bring out when you need a distraction.

sposies all the way. you will have enough stuff to worry about/carry with you, you won't want to be carrying wet or poopy diapers too.

if you can get them to sleep part of all of a flight that would be awesome! obviously. :giggle:

good luck to you!! and have a great trip. :goodvibes:

I haven't done it with twins but have flown with my daughter at many an infant age (and many times by myself). I would try to sit across the aisle from your husband that way you can chat and easily trade the babies back and forth as needed (they might even entertain each other). I always do disposable diapers for the duration of out of town trips (flying or not). Other suggestions would be to baby wear and skip the stroller in the airport, have something to suck on for take off and landing. Now that my DD no longer takes a morning nap we have found the best time to fly is early in the a.m. so that we can be to our destination before naptime (she isn't a good napper on us anymore) or late at night when the plane will be dark.

I didn't know there was a one infant per row policy. Last time I flew American and there were 2 infants in my row. I felt so bad for the man sitting in the middle seat. Between the other mama breastfeeding her baby and my almost 2 year old telling the whole world that she had her boob out. :giggle2:
