Can't wait to see your new yarn!
Hey Monica, when you check in I just wanted to say, Bear's scrappies are TDF!!!!!! he looks so adorable in them, and the fit is perfect. You absolutely cannot sell them!
I finished the brim of the hat last night and picked up the stitches to start the crown, did my increase round and fell asleep with knitting needles in hand!
Has anyone noticed that handspun kind of gives off an almost tweed-like appearance?

Good morning,
Lauren, I can't wait to see what you dyed up! And Aimee, I agree on the handspun. And I  it. :)
I'm trying to decide what to get started on today. I might start the Confection Shrug but I don't yet have an image in my mind of how I want it to look. We'll probably head downtown for lunch, so off to the LYS I go unless I use the Hummingbird Beauty.
In the meantime, can I admit that I can see my Selah Fruitful becoming a pair of longies for my DD or a So Called Scarf?

I have been busy lately and haven't been able to come on here and follow the threads. I have been finishing up customs and dyeing yarn all week. My drop spindle came last week! Here's a pic of my first handspun yarn:blush: it's super bulky. I think I have a hang of it now and the next one is going to be much better, maybe even usable:giggle: .

Yeah Lauren! I hope you win it. I think I'd do a color other than mustard b/c the trim of the sweater is mustard. If that's peach or orange in it, I might pick that color or the lavendar.
Maddy, the yarn is gorgeous! I love the blues and browns and how nubby it looks. ETA: I see green in that colorway too. So now I must stalk you. :D
Does anyone remember who wanted to buy some knit-up mama socks? Baby Be Blessed is stocking a pair on the Lemon Tree Lane stocking today (as a guest).

Ok so I think I need to make a cowl for both boys after playing in the snow yesterday. I figure a cowl will be easier than a scarf that will get drug all over :giggle: it will be out of peace fleece. DH is in love w/ peace fleece. Yesterday he was showing off my mittens :giggle: His cousin showed up and saw that Clay's mittens were covered in snow and she made a comment about him needing waterproof ones and DH told her not to worry his hands were warm and dry :) Well Clay looked at her and told her his hands were very warm. I looked over and her DS (2) had on cotton gloves from Walmart
Oh and DH has permitted me to buy lots of PF if I find another coop

Morning mommas! Thanks for all the kind words about Bear's scrappies...the fit is far too perfect to let them go. Now I just need to wash and lanolize them so he can *actually* wear them.

Maddy...nice yarns! Love rambo (though, I too disliked it at first ;)).

I am west coast so I'll never be up early enough to start a thread. I have an idea for tomorrow's title and am looking for someone to call dibs on starting the thread and use my title. Anyone expect they'll be up in time to start the thread in the AM? Wanna shoot me a PM? Thanks.

I need to get to work.. I have to finish a pair of custom longies, the legs are all different colours and stitch patterns and it is taking me forever. I am going to try and dye a bit more today, I am really inspired and hope I have time.
Totally off topic, I found a storchenwiege wrap on kijiji this morning liek new for $60 - I emailed her and she said someone else had replied but she is waiting to see if they show and if not it's mine. I'm so excited I have wanted to try a woven wrap - back on topic I can wear Audrey in the wrap while I dye some woolie goodies ;).

So today I plan to finish up the secret project and get that washed and blocked and then on to some yummy MM Blooming on Targhee, can't wait to start those. I have to run to the LYS real quick to find some Cascade as a trim for the Blooming -- they have a pretty good selection so I should be able to find something.
Not much progress on my newborn pair (in fact no progress) I want to get some of my customs knocked out and then I will concentrate more on getting that set done. I have a few customs for Feb that are not replying to PM's and e-mails so I may be able to sneak my own newborn set in there :)

Okay I just have to share cause she is too cute, Lilley is all excited that she gets to go out and play with the momobile so she has been singing songs about how Daddy is taking her on the momobile for the last hour. She calls our old snowmobile a momobile, and DH hooks up a sled to the back of it and takes her for rides around the yard.
DH is taking her out to play in the snow while Viv sleeps -- so I get some uninterrupted knitting time before the youngest gets up and I can go hit up the LYS.

Both Kaylen and Saedra were spread eagle at the big U/S so we knew they were girls (altho I mistook Kaylens umbilical cord for a pen*s in my drugged up stupor) Mena was the only who never did cooperate. We didnt know her sex until about 4 days before I gave birth because they did a biophysical profile U/S on me and she finally gave us the money shot.

Kim - I hope you have a girl, just so I can see all the gorgeous yarn and woolies you do for her!
We never found out the gender with Josie. DH and I were convinced we were having a boy though, so it was a surprise when the doctors pulled her out and said she was a girl! We had a fairly long list of boys' names to choose from, but Josephine was pretty much our only girls' name.

So I'm pretty sure I'll win this sweater (how gorgeous!!) And I'm thinking I'll make some interlock pants for L to match, I was thinking the mustard color, or should I do lavender? She can wear it for her b-day

well I had an US on friday - he looked but couldn't tell :( it is super early tho - but he was able to tell with Tristan and Gav that early.... so maybe a girl this time...just think of all the yarn I could buy :giggle2:
So much yarn! Are either of your boys old enough to have a gender preference? DD wanted a brother from the start.

So much yarn! Are either of your boys old enough to have a gender preference? DD wanted a brother from the start.
tristan is too little and well gavin is developmentally delayed so eventho he is 4 1/2 he isn't really that old KWIM? - he is still really jealous of Tristan so i would guess he just doesn't want ANY more babies regardless of the sex LOL

Catch up from last night
You know how much I wish I were tall, for that exact reason? I end up with Isabelle in a wrap, and there's no way I can reach the high up stuff. So I look for tall people who don't look like they'll be mad about grabbing stuff. I never get mad about it and most times it’s a sweet older person who needs help.
It is so funny when people ask DH for things off the top shelf because they are always half afraid of him. He is so nice for being such a big wookie. Wookie lol I don’t think he resembles one.. oh except the other day when he was grumpy :giggle:
So...I was seriously leaning toward selling Bear's scrappies...we could really use the money...and with that size...and the $70 of wool it was knit with...I know that I could have made a little $$...however, I just tried them on him. They are perfection. Like they were knit for him or something. So...they're keepers. ;)
Pictures coming.... :drif:

Perfect timing too since Mr. T has been a super pill today and it was just such a frustrating day :(
Monica those scrappies are TDF and you'd better keep them!!
Hey, I got some of that Kukui nut oil at the store today, and it was even on super sale so that was a bonus
And talking about height, I am no shortie, I'm 6 feet tall with a 36" inseam and size 12 feet!
I love being tall now (didn't feel that way when I was a teen) but my big clodhoppers are a total PITB since I have such a hard time finding shoes
I have a 36 inseam as well and go from 10-11 depending on who makes them. Pregnancy made my feet grow. :giggle:

Monica, hope Bear feels better. Chicken pox can look a lot like Gianotti Crosti (which is a non contagious rash that can follow many common illnesses- like a cold) you may want to google images and see if you can tell. After 3-5 days the CP will crust over but the GC will not.

OK mama's I have a question. my swap partner wants a monkey face on the bum similar to to the monster face.. so I was told to do the sr 3.5 from the cast on edge.. well since they are small that puts the eyes right at the waist. I have a pair of knock off monster pants that I am going by as well and they measure the same but the waist is an enclosed drawstring. My waist is ribbed and 2" so my body is 1.5 does that make sense or do you need pics?

If he isn't acting sick and is without fever...it is more likely Gianotti Crosti. It can follow 2-6 weeks after an illness (like a cold) The rash comes in crops (like Chicken Pox) but CP often start on torso and GC often starts on the legs/arms. GC can last 2-8 weeks and the rash may change in appearance, seemingly by the minute, but GC is totally benign and not contagious.

Ok, so I have worked my tail off today, making food for the Superbowl(yep, don't even know who is playing.) Went to the store, Fed, bathed, dressed Nicholas, did laundry, etc. Lets just say this 7 month preggo is tired.
In the mean time, my DH has been nicely asked for TWO weeks to do some minor chores for me, and well he is out cleaning out his work van!
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO,
I just bought some longies AND yarn at LTL. And, well the longer he stays out there, the more I am gonna buy....Buha.:banghead: :lostit:

I have a knitting pattern help question -- in the sheepy pants pattern for the gusset extension it says: "knit 10 (6), turn" what is the (6) for? I know that throughout the rest of the pattern the numbers in parentheses are for the larger sizes but that doesn't compute here. Help a clueless newbie here? :please:

I dyed for the first time this week and I have to say my leftovers looked NOTHING like that :roflmbo: I dipped, I mixed, I painted, I dropped color and and none of it looked like I expected/wanted. maybe I don't have and eye for creating color - I know what I like but getting it from what I see to what I create I think is hard for me.
How long did you practice before you felt like you 'got it'? How long should I keep spending/wasting my $$ on practice?? :giggle2:

Hi everyone! The day was so beautiful it got up into the 50's. So we headed downtown for lunch on a restaurant patio. Jessica was wearing her Little Trunks wool and at least 5 or 6 people walked by and told us they loved her longies. Only in Asheville does a table full of single women know what 'longies' means! Then we went off to our favorite forest playground for an incredible hike.
So to catch up:
Kim, nice to see you in the thread. Are you into the second trimester now?
Monica, I hope Bear feels better and Angela I hope Matthew is ok.
Aimee, the cloche is fab. And the picture of you is adorable; that should be your new avatar!
So there is no way I can ever keep up with this thread most days, but I posted last night asking how to weave in the ends on my longies and now that they are all finished I thought I would share some pics!
Beautiful! I would love to do something like this: what type of yarn did you use for the stripe of mottled colors in b/w the green?
I got pics of my finished shorties! DD loves them and was petting them and saying "pretty" as I was finishing the icord.

LOVE the colors! Love! And I'll probably catch some of the game today, though I wasn't much into it this year. I only had time to dedicate to either college or pro, and since I'm a Gator and Browns fan, you can guess which one I picked. :giggle2:
What's funny is that before we moved we always had a big super bowl party, and I threw it. My DH didn't grow up with American Football so it was never his thing.

I haven't read all the posts the last couple of days. Did you read about SugarBubbie's stalking policy? If I understand it, you must pay for it if you click BIN. If you are stalking for someone else, you must work out any additional arrangements with them i.e., you pay for it and they pay you. What about Paypal's 2.9% fee? If you buy 2 skeins + trim = $50.60. Then the mama buying from you pays you $52.07 or you eat it? And what about shipping? Just wondering.

So there is no way I can ever keep up with this thread most days, but I posted last night asking how to weave in the ends on my longies and now that they are all finished I thought I would share some pics!
Now to work on the matching pair for his brother!

Beautiful! I would love to do something like this: what type of yarn did you use for the stripe of mottled colors in b/w the green?
Since this was my first *real* knitting project, I cheated and use cheap self patterning wool that I got from Joann's. I wasn't brave enough to try anything too nice when I had no idea what I was doing! Now that I know I can do it I am drooling over all of this beautiful wool!

Teresa~ oh MY!! those are lovely colors.
:giggle2:
Maybe I'm just destined to support all you fabulously color creative Mamas!
btw ~ that yarn would get lots of love at my house - that is if its looking for a home ;) :goodvibes:
honestly :hide: i did okay my first attempts. I caught on really quickly. It took me a long time to get the hang of handpainting though. I realized the yarn was too wet. It needs to be next to dry.
Start out space dyeing because the colors don't bleed on to one another.
As for mixing, when i first started I would do little by little until I got it right. now i can wing it. HTH.
Just wondering.
interesting. maybe she doesn't like stalking? or has had too many non-payers? :headscratch:

Space dying as in leaving white space inbetween each color so that they don't turn muddy/bleed at the joins of colors? I can acheive that w/ either dipping or handpainting correct? As long as I keep the handpaint on the dry side so when you roll up it doesn't smoosh colors?
I think I'd prefer a handpainting method vs. the method my friend taught me.
Thanks SO much :) I'll try again and not throw in the towel just yet.

here is some
http://www.yarnmarket.com/yarn/Fleece_Artist_Yarn-Blue_Face_Leicester_Undyed_Yarn-4375.html
Big Blue is the bulky -
wool2dye4 used to carry it but she has been out of it for at least a year i think? it is hard to get so i think that is why not too many carry it - I think we were one of the only ones carrying it for awhile...
but i believe saron ( wool2dye4 ) said she hoped to have it back in stock

If you refer someone to her and they put a deposit down on a custom, she gives them a discount and you a discount (I think)...it was in the WAHM announcement forum.
I've been eyeing the Soft Stars for some time now, but couldn't convince DH to let me buy them. Of course, now that they are on sale I said we have to give them a try! Usually I go with neutral shoes, but it was hard since they only have limited colours available on sale. I'm sure I will like them nonetheless.

just looked. and WOW. that does seem steep. She only takes 20% off. So if you buy Large longies for $100 you get $20 off that is still $80 for the knitting plus another $40 for the yarn. That is alot compared to others I've seen. I would agree that there are cheaper spots. Although her work is lovely.

dip dyeing is when you have a pot of water/dye and dip the sections in one at a time. Let me see if I can find a picture. You don't need to leave white sections. I never do. You just need to be sure the colors you put next to one another aren't going to produce brown or mud.
Then when that color is done, you take it out and dump the water, then add the next color and so on.
Here is an old picture from a year ago. If you keep the not being dyed yarn above the being dyed yarn, it won't bleed.

And I have way more then one project cast on...I just "forget" to go back sometimes. Maybe if I alternate days and knit one on one day and the other on another day.
Hmmmm............

LOVE it! Is it wool? Superwash?
Cascade 220. Not superwash...so I may regret it. But It was all they had at the Ben Franklin and I didn't want to wait.

TY! And...I have given myself permission to knit 2 rows a day on my scarf (the linen stitch one...15 minutes a row-lol) and another half hour or so on one of my personal projects. And...knit club is all about personal knitting. When I was doing zero knitting for us...I was crabby.

I'm using 220 as well. Not superwash...I think it will be fine. It's not like we don't understand wool care, kwim?

Which is exactly why I stopped taking customs for knits. I wanted to try so many things but never had the time and felt bad if i was suppose to be working on customs.
I applaud you mamas who take on big wait lists. I can't do it anymore. I tell customs customers they can be added to a wait list but there is no guarantee I will get to them. I knit for others when I have the time. And I even stopped adding people to the wait list. It was too much pressure. It stops being fun.

Yeah. The one thing that isn't helping is that the hips are measureing 20 inches :headscratch: Even though I cast on exactly the same as Woodland Tale cestari. . . . . I think I can. . . I think I can. . .

Yahoo on the cast on! Did you decide on sizing? I struggled with that one...also, I didn't make gauge with cascade...it's so spindly. I am using 8s and knitting the large, which will wind up in between m & l measurements...with the longer length. All good I think! :D
I'm going to pick up Chinese food...how footballish, right?

no. Haven't looked at sizing yet. I just bought about 1100 yards to be safe.
I am how do I say this...big busted. So, when things fit the girls, they are too big on the arms. :headscratch: maybe I scared myself out of this afterall.
I don't want to wait to multi-quote: you look gorgeous!!!!

Oh I can't wait to watch the sweater progress! I will have a while to wait on my yarn before I can cast on :( Oh well I have a few other things to do.
I am loving my mitten. It is so much fun to knit something that you enjoy working on :) And I love the polar moon! I think it looks perfect. You will have to buy us all a skein of yarn if you take it out :giggle: How is that for motivation to keep going ;)

I wanted this to make Bella something :( Anyone wanna help me find something similar??
i tried :( nothing...
but she said that she set it up wrong and things oversold and some people just ended up with trim :(
she is trying to sort it all out...
that yarn kinda reminds me of the one i did for your fundraiser
Here are some action shots of J in Auberge. They're a bit short.
ETA: no. I didn't pay attention to his shoes being on the right foot. LMAO!
And polar moon and I aren't getting along atm. I can't get the leg to not be stripey and more like the top. I'm thinking of frogging it all and alternating on the top and not on the legs. ..
... polar moon looks GREAT!
and the legs look fine!
seriously... how can the legs and the body look EXACTLY the same- they are two different amounts of stitches...

Thanks. . .and LOL! I know! But I did frog it. The hips were too small. . not sure why I did that and didn't pay attention, but I just tried it on J and they were too snug. Round 2. . ding ding!

So who is buying yarn today at Sugarbubbie? There are over 100 people logged on? Who's the dyer? Do we know her(him?) Tina and Kim are the dyers. :D
 as usual!!!
i'm only seeing 22 people on her site :headscratch: the stuff is gorgeous though! isn't she the mama who made up the Riding Hood sweater pattern? yep!
Andrea - LOVE IT!!!! Woodland Tale is just so darn perfect.
how cute are those??? great job.
Selah (http://hyenacart.com/prod_details.php?id=90415&vid=200001)on spots. I think that was my yarn I destashed a while back.. :headscratch: dang it
I think I must be the only one watching Disney Channel (with the kiddos) right now. Nope it's pretty much on that channel when Madison is home.. Icarly, HM, Finnias Ferb..lol.
Oh no! That sucks.
I forgot about the stocking. I was running in my dreams with a fox.... :roflmbo: :roflmbo:
ONLY 36 weeks.
http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc220/DSForSale/36weeks006.jpg You are glowing and gorgeous!
Thanks SO much :) I'll try again and not throw in the towel just yet.
dip dyeing is when you have a pot of water/dye and dip the sections in one at a time. Let me see if I can find a picture. You don't need to leave white sections. I never do. You just need to be sure the colors you put next to one another aren't going to produce brown or mud.
Then when that color is done, you take it out and dump the water, then add the next color and so on.
Here is an old picture from a year ago. If you keep the not being dyed yarn above the being dyed yarn, it won't bleed.
that is what my stove looks like and be careful not to add too much dye.. it will creep up the skein. ;)

I think I can. . . Did you do a gauge swatch with it? Casting on the same amount of stitches doesn't always mean it will come out the same size. ;)

It's drying right now b/c I know he'll want to show it off to his mountain biking buddies tomorrow.
On a scale of 1-10, how evil am I for washing it in Sugar Cookies so he'll smell delicious tomorrow? :roflmbo:

And no worries on the dyeing. I've done this once or twice before and never had any problems with dye creeping up ;)

I sent Dh back to work.. this week we were not getting along.. he had Male PMS... He will never grasp staying home with kids and trying to keep everyone happy and myself sane.. meaning dyeing and knitting keeps me sane and it's something *I*enjoy for myself as well for others.. but anyway.. Matthew is still sick. Runs a fever on and off.. he's getting the other tooth next to the big front ones and his nose is runny and clear.. and he's hoarse.
:( and clingy. I did mange to get 1 custom dye job done today before I threw in the towel. Tomorrow I can finish the LT rainbow. I do have some wooly/yarn goodnes going out tomorrow. :D
