A little bit. She was diagnosed with lung cancer about 5 years ago. She under went surgery and we thought all was better. We were SUPER close (Like, she was the one person in my family I'd go to for advice and I knew she'd kick my butt anytime I messed up.). We thought all was better, but then a year or so later, it was back, and more of it. By that point she was not able to have anymore surgeries and she also had an anarysm in her stomach. She refused any other treatment at that point really.

Back in November, she had pneumonia. I sort of "knew" then that it was probably nearing the end. She never really got over the pneumonia. She had also lost the feeling in her hand by then since the cancer had metastasized to her spine. I was actually surprised when she decided to do radiation, but I know she hoped she could get her feeling back in her hand. Things went down hill from there. That's when I really started to prepare myself. I knew in my heart that there is no way in the world she'd want to live in the condition she was in. She'd already signed a DNR, and I knew if we even mentioned hooking her up to a machine she'd kill us.

It is still tough to know she's gone. I know it'll probably hit me randomly still for awhile. It's nice thinking about the good times. The old memories before she was sick. I do take comfort in knowing that she isn't hurting anymore. No tubes, no medicine, nothing poking in her, ect.

:hugs: I really sympathize for you. They gave my grandfather 6 months, over 10 years ago. He has alot of liver issues. :( And now about 2 months ago he was diagnosed with leukemia. Hes going through chemo right now, and was just hospitilized for a pnemonia. Its so sad to think he might not be with us when Z is 2. I guess since hes made it this far I just never thought Id ever have to see him sick again.

I do hope I can find comfort in the fact that he no longer will be suffering or hurting.

Sorry that was long, but it does make me feel better, ive been so depressed these last few days and no one to talk to. :sadno:

Oh no worries =) Feel free to PM me if you need too.

Gma and I had many talks over the last few years. She was the first person that I told when I was preggo. I made her promise when she was sick that she'd live long enough to see me become a mom. She did. She was still "with it" to see Alison this time as well, which I'm beyond thankful for.

I can't wear the shirts for the old place she used to work right now cause it's just hard. Helping clean out her house has been a nice distraction cause I swear she has kept everything. It's been one large trip down memory lane.

Thanks ladies...
My Gpa is the one I go to also. He keeps me in line and tells me like it is and I do with him too. Everyone else seems to baby him because of his age.

Staying at his place when I was down there brought back so many memories and I think that's what is making it hard. I lived with him for a year after my divroce while I was getting back on my feet.

:hugs: for everyone dealing with losing a loved one.

I've been through it twice in the last few years. My great-grandma passed in an old age home at 85, and couldn't wait to go, and my grandpa about 4 years ago died of lung cancer. This was after battling prostate and brain cancer, so I think in the beginning we all thought he would beat it again. He also held on way longer than we thought as he was worried about my grandma and the stress it would cause in the family. He was such a gentle, wonderful man, it's still hard to believe that I can't pick up the phone and call him.

We've been taking AJ for haircuts every 3 to 4 weeks since he was 10 months old. He looks like a mini military man! His hair is fine and gets hard to wash when it gets long, not to mention he has like 4 cowlicks and they stick up all over the place.

:hugs: to all dealing with the loss of loved ones. My grandparents have always been the rock of my family. Only child, grew up in a broken home, watched my dad, then my first step-dad cheat on my mom, dealt with abuse from multiple sources, abandoned by my father, etc... not an ideal childhood, and my grandparents were the people I knew would ALWAYS be there for me. I stayed with them over the summers, they took me on vacations, they paid for special classes for me, they gave me my first car, they helped support me through college. Then my Grandpa got sick. He had several strokes over the course of 4 or 5 years, and by the end he could barely care for himself. My Grandma became his nurse, her whole live devoted to caring for him and meeting his needs. The example of wifely devotion she has set was inspiring, but it was awful to see a proud man reduced to sponge baths because he couldn't shower himself. He died 2 years ago, and I still miss him.

As for my day, I am really dragging today. We had a big cold snap come through last night, and my head feels like it is going to explode. I warned my hubby I'm not likely to get much accomplished today, and I'm probably gonna live up to that.

So here's my measly list:
-feed dogs
-shower (cuz I seriously smell bad)
-dress
-take meds
-stop at Panera and pick up 6 cinnamon crunch bagels and hazelnut cream cheese
-head to a women's breakfast at 9 (crap, I need to get moving!)
-pick up probiotic
-stop at Joann's to look at Lightning McQueen fabric to make sheets and a blanket for Trey
-home for lunch
-nap for the boy (and maybe me)
-clean bathroom

Ok, quick brag. I love this kid!!! We have a drawer in the kitchen that has "safe" snacks that he can have pretty much anytime. He has a small bag of chips from dinner last night in the drawer-a rare treat. This morning, he went to grab a snack and passed up the chips for dried cranberries! :D

Gonna go get moving. Hope this headache eases up!!

Sorry for the huge multi quote, I even skipped a few to try to slim it down some :giggle:

Im pleased that she did no girly tempting

Me too!

:sadno:

OK, now you've gone and done it! :nono: stop that.

btw LOVE the robots and the airplane longies

Don't tell DH but I ever so slightly trimmed R's hair the other day to give it better shape.

:muted: :giggle:

B had curls til we cut it in august.. he was almost 9 months old.. got tired of everyone asking what HER name was

hello HE is dressed in boy clothes with a boy binkie

The other day DH and I were at the mail with Abigail, she had a blue shirt on, but it had a big heart on it, and a purple soothie and was covered in a pink blanket and some women (who by the way though it was ok to lean INTO my stroller) asked if Abby was a boy or a girl.

I bought myself a new pair of sunglasses yesterday. Its so nice to be able to look through them and not have to try to see through massive scratches :happyclap:

 I FINALLY, in my entire life, ordered my first pair of sunglasses. I can't see a dang old thing without my glasses on and because of the muscle problems I get bad headaches if I try to do anything without them on. So DH made me order some sunglasses when I ordered my new glasses. I can go get the sunglasses today (but it's overcast and snowing like crazy, what am I going to do with sunglasses :giggle:)

When I first washed the ADG longies, they dye bled, BAD. Like the entire sink was full of teal water. Now if you look closely at the longies they have a stripped look. Any idea? And if I do FSOT them, should I price them less? I washed them the same as my other wool.

I have no idea what brand they are, just plain old UBIPF's I think. But I got a sewing machine for Christmas and I would love to embellish some of my own, just haven't the slightest idea what size to go to.

Wool question:

When I first washed the ADG longies, they dye bled, BAD. Like the entire sink was full of teal water. Now if you look closely at the longies they have a stripped look. Any idea? And if I do FSOT them, should I price them less? I washed them the same as my other wool.

Anyone?

Nope. Aidan turned 5 September 14th and the cut off for starting kindergarten was September 1st. They won't let him in this year. Last school year he went to preschool here on post (when we was 4), and actually was going to the same class at the beginning of this school year. But it's at a daycare center and most of the kids in the class are 3, he was "helping" the teachers teach the other kids and he was bringing home the EXACT same projects as the year before. DH got promoted so we were paying twice as much this year as we did last year and he wasn't learning anything new and it was driving us nuts the way they treated him. So we pulled him out, and are putting him in karate and soccer and he will start kindergarten this coming fall at the age of 6. DH and I were always the oldest in our grade and I think it will be good for Aidan, he can be a leader instead of a follower. :goodvibes:

OK, that was a lot longer than I expected it to be.

I had heard, but know how true it is, that they are talking about making the cut off in June or something like that. So your child has to be 5 before June of that year to start school in September. The teachers are saying that kids are just not ready for kindergarten before about 5 1/2. I also heard at some point that they were trying to make preschool state funded and mandatory.

I honestly think both are a good idea.
