It is, unfortunately, and I'm up early because i'm in a boot camp training class for the certified computer examiner certification all week. 8 to 6. FUN STUFF. You won't see me online much today that's for sure! Keep you fingers crossed for me that things work out with me pumping there and not having to use the bathroom... they're supposed to find space for me but i don't know how well it's going to work out.
I was out most of yesterday and only had time to read all the chatter yesterday... Sara, put the maalox on his tushie already! It'll help neutralize the acid and protect his skin (it'll dry on his skin and be kind of chalky). I've been there with rashes on D before and watching him shake and cry just broke my heart... i had him in the oatmeal bath as much as i could because it made him so happy, and just grabbed the best cream i had and put him in a disposable since that's what it took to get it cleared up.
D's awake, time to nurse him and run... hope you guys have a good day!

thanks Starla :) good luck with the bootcamp today. My DH is looking into doing one of those training courses for his job too, but he would have to travel out of town to do it :(
I was awakened by X crying at 5 am :tired: but just for a quick poopy diaper change. The good news is that it was almost back to "normal" :woot2: I never thought i would be so happy to see solid poop :giggle: And his rash is better from the Method cream :)
this is not a question of the day, but a question nonetheless: did anyone else enter their babies in the Regis and Kelly Beautiful baby contest? My family hounded me until i entered a pic of X :giggle: I was just wondering if X will have the rest of the BSRB cuties to contend with :chuckle:
Ok, i have to get X some breakfast. I am letting DH sleep in today, even though i want to  I made him promise (in his sleep ;)) to let me sleep in twice this week in return :yay: But that will only happen if his work does not call him out early in the AM.

And i want to thank Megs, Di, and Jenn for your :hugs: last night. And jenn, thanks for mentioning the BRAT diet. He's been on that for about 3 days now, and IDK if that is helping him, but either that or the combo of probiotics, diet, and the illness running its course... does not matter. I am so happy that he's getting better!! Now i have to get the stains out of my diapers  Some really bad poop can do a number on stain-free diapers!! :giggle2:

Aww Sara I am glad X is starting to get a bit better! I hope he continues to improve.
I haven't enterted my babe into the regis and kelly thing mostly because I doubt that I would know if she won as I never watch Regis and Kelly
Both my kids are up but both are playing happily in their rooms so I am taking a few minutes to wake up before I go gather them. DH is home today too so I have a little extra time.

Morning!
I wish DH was off today for the holiday, but no days off for him again until Memorial Day. :(
Starla--hope your boot camp training class today flies by and I hope they find a private place for you to pump. :)
Sara--:yay: about X starting to get some solid poops going! That is the greatest news ever & what a wonderful way to start the week! So happy to hear that the method cream seems to be helping, too. I am going to have to pick some of that up next time I'm at Target to have on hand. Sorry to hear about the stains, but I'm sure you'll be able to get them out over time. :)
I'm sure you saw my post last night, but I knew nothing of the Regis & Kelly photo contest. I watched that show a lot when C was first born, but I rarely have the TV on during the day now.
I'm so glad you entered X and again..let us know if there's a place we can vote!! Oh how I would love to see him win!!
Nothing much planned for today...going to head out and do our usual errands in a little bit after I attempt to get a shower.

THanks Shannon.
I don't watch Regis and kelly either  but my bff does, and she will not let me miss it if, by chance, X was selected. I am not particularly optimistic that he would win, but it's fun to enter nonetheless :)
by the way, there will be voting for the finalists only on March 9. Don't hold your breath, but if he is a finalist :giggle: I will be begging for your votes!!!

Morning mamas! We're up in MA getting settled this morning since we didn't arrive until late last night. I'm so impressed with Reese's flexibility with traveling, thank goodness!
Can someone remind me what the BRAT diet is? I remember hearing about it on John & Kate + Eight, but can't remember what the letters stand for.

Morning ladies. I am at work and DH is home w/ the kiddos. Daycare is closed today and he has more time off, so he gets to stay home. I already got a call that my DS colored his hand green w/ marker (non-washable). He had him in gloves until he can figure out how to get it off. I told him to use diswashing soap..I need to call and see if that worked.
Sarah - Yeah that X is feeling better. DS always got those red bums, but we were still in sposies so we would good on the desitin. That stuff does wonders. Bad for cloth though :(

Jaclyn--:giggle2: about DH putting DS in gloves. I love how DHs' think sometimes.
As for the Kumquat site...yeah, I know. However, I only bought one shirt and that was it.
Does anyone have a regular postal scale? I have a food scale, which has been accurate so far. I'm mailing 3 TFs, and am coming up with 5-6oz for each diaper, so about 1lb 3oz for 3. Sound right?
Gotta run...

Can someone remind me what the BRAT diet is? I remember hearing about it on John & Kate + Eight, but can't remember what the letters stand for.
Alaina, the BRAT diet stands for bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. I think the idea is that those things are so benign and also lend themselves to firm poop. I've also heard that the T can stand for tea but obviously it wouldn't when you're talking about babies :giggle: I used the BRAT diet for awhile during my pregnancy with Juliana when my heartburn was unbearable and it helped tremendously.
I am here! I sold my cherished cotton wrap last night :( But I had to be strong because I'm *really* not using it (not even once since buying my Beco) and I could really use the funds to pay for my BSRB custom. It's official . . . I am ON THE WAGON until that thing is paid for. Joyce now has all of my fabric and I could have to pay any day, so I need to hold on to all of my paypal NO MATTER WHAT. I mean, if she stocks like green chicks, blue bacon and eggs or munki sushi then my declaration of being on the wagon doesn't apply :giggle: but I think I'd know if she had that fabric before she stocked it.
I'm almost afraid to say it but . . . my kids are both behaving like little angels right now :yay:

oh so glad that X is almost back to normal. glad the metod cream made his rash better. Is that cream CD safe? I'm always looking for an alternate rash cream in case i run out of my northern essence or ENI butt butter.
Both my kids are up but both are playing happily in their rooms so I am taking a few minutes to wake up before I go gather them. DH is home today too so I have a little extra time.
woohoo for DH being home. My DH had the option of going in or not but since he took a sick day last week he wanted to make it up so he was gonna go in for a little bit today. I dont even care b/c when he's home he's not really home anyways. Like that day he took a sick day b/c i wasnt feeling well. his intentions were good but then he wasn't home most of the day so i couldn't rest regardless. *sigh*
Jenn..yes we want a review of the butterfly beco when it arrives. with action shots! ;P Though i'm afraid you might make me want to get one. I have too many SSC's right now. I should sell some of them..even for dirt cheap b/c I never use them. I only reach for my baby patapum and 4th gen beco. though i have 3 other ssc's ;X
I use to like watching regis and kelly but don't ever really find the time to watch it these days. I love the ellen show though i never really catch that when it airs either. something about chasing around a toddler and making sure he'snot ripping up books and toppling over things. or waking up roan. it's a crazy house over here.

No not yet and I'm :foottap: waiting for it. The seller was shipping UPS ground so I have no idea how long that takes. BUT . . . I paid $15 in shipping (which I didn't mind because I was still getting a good deal) so I was really expecting to have that thing last week. With $15 in shipping I could have gotten a Beco Butterfly to a buyer within 2 days, kwim?

Sara - SS X wasn't feeling good yesterday. I'm glad he's better today. I'm surprised my MIL didn't tell me about the Regis thing. That's right up her alley.
Shannon - Isaac is allergic to suedecloth, too. That's how I found the bamboo and hemp love.
I'm going to try to avoid the re-lists today. As it stands, I need to sell some of my GMs to pay for my custom longies.

I think people inflate shipping costs on ebay to make a little more profit on the item. It sucks. I'm actually kind of fed up with ebay lately. DH and I have had some nasty buying experiences (ended up in PayPal "court" and we won, thank goodness). People are just rude. DS is so the opposite most of the time :)

NO!!! She isn't crawling! lol. She can scoot, and sometimes I see her trying to pull her knees up but they don't get too far. She also will only roll tummy to back but not the other way. And she has plenty of floor playtime. She can sit for a minute or two until she flails her arms and falls over LOL. Or tries to reach for something and falls over.
Ava gets equal amounts of time being held, on the floor and in her jumperoo.

They also didn't want to sell me the twisted tea! I am 24 but I look *young* she was all "You look an awful lot different in this picture, I don't know" and made someone else come look at it etc...I said, yea I probably DO look a little different but I have lost THIRTY POUNDS since then...that was take right after I had my daughter and I have since had a haircut too...??? I'm going to be scarce today....the laptop is having some serious issues and I can't do a thing on it. I have to send it into work with DH tomorrow for the IT guys to take a peek at it. I can't be chained to the desktop all day. :(
 Esther! So nice to see you!! You've been missed!
Jordan--thanks so much for weighing the TFs! I was close with 1lb 3oz. :) I can't wait to see what's stocking at TUWS. I'm on a spending freeze right now outside of a mini-custom, but I love to see what's stocking over there.
I hope your boys are feeling better soon. :yuck: on the runny poos.
Megan--SS about DH and the tummy bug. That bug has been going around like crazy. I hope you and the kiddos are spared. Not a fun way for him to spend his day off. :(
SSC= Soft structured carrier or structured soft carrier or something like that. :giggle2: An Ergo is a SSC.
Ok, I've tried vinegar & putting peppermint oil on cotton balls on the kitchen floor and the ants are still around. I give up. It's driving me nuts.
Off to get a few things done...bbl.

I dont know what you have for floors but I was told ants wont cross a chalk line so if you take some chalk and draw lines about they are supposed to stay on the other side of it...no idea if it is true but its something I heard and read..

i was just looking at avalea bday lucky you
you have an 8-8-8 baby mine came 48 minutes too late:giggle:
were still doing the closet from yesterday man it is a mess
every project we do sounds so easy and then turns it to putty.paint and everything and all that takes time to dry and blah blah u know
my guy is a major scooter if he sees something across the room he will get their no official crawling but hes a fast scooter:thumbsup:
Sara-Glad little X is doing better :hugs: poor little guy.
April-Poor Juliana :( and poor mama for not getting any sleep. I'm keeping you guys in my prayers.
Hi everyone else!!

We just have Robeez and a pair of expensive ones that my mom bought somewhere (when they were on vaca) and I don't remember the brand name. They were her first pair of shoes and she just now fits them. In jewish tradition the grandma buys the first pair. They are actually really beautiful, I'll have to take a pic.

Give me the 6 pack...not like I was buying a 5th of vodka or something :giggle2:
That makes me :giggle2: because I could totally see it happening to me if not for the fact that I look EXACTLY like the pic on my license (and the pic on my sister's license too; that has come in handy a few times). I wonder how many underage kids they think are going through the checkout with $100 worth of groceries just to sneak out that six pack of twisted tea :headscratch: :giggle2:

Yeah, I always say I'm on a spending freeze when TUWS stocks too but it never seems to work :headscratch: Maybe if I'm lucky, Joyce will invoice me for my custom before Wednesday night :giggle:
I'm sorry that your ants seem to be sticking around. We get them sometimes in the summer but we don't take any active steps to eradicate them, we just wait for them to pass on their own so I'm sorry I can't be of any help :hugs: I know what a struggle it is with mobile babies afoot.

Oh and Shannon, don't know how you made it with $100. We're lucky if we can get out of there under $300. DH likes to buy expensive things at the grocery store and doesn't pay attention to produce prices, like when he spent $10 on three onions and $10 on 2 cartons of strawberries or $6 on a bag of grapes. :banghead:

Morning ladies. I am at work and DH is home w/ the kiddos. Daycare is closed today and he has more time off, so he gets to stay home. I already got a call that my DS colored his hand green w/ marker (non-washable). He had him in gloves until he can figure out how to get it off. I told him to use diswashing soap..I need to call and see if that worked.
Sarah - Yeah that X is feeling better. DS always got those red bums, but we were still in sposies so we would good on the desitin. That stuff does wonders. Bad for cloth though :(
Diana- So, reading last night thread and see the kamquat site...bad..bad.
Okay, better start work. Have a great day everyone :)
Thanks Jaclyn. I actually tried desitin on him and he screamed like the cream stung him  i had some sposies left from the trip, and was going to use them with the Desitin. Method worked much better :)
Alaina, i too am impressed with X's flexibility with travel :) So glad to hear you and Reese are having a good time so far.
oh so glad that X is almost back to normal. glad the metod cream made his rash better. Is that cream CD safe? I'm always looking for an alternate rash cream in case i run out of my northern essence or ENI butt butter.
I use to like watching regis and kelly but don't ever really find the time to watch it these days. I love the ellen show though i never really catch that when it airs either. something about chasing around a toddler and making sure he'snot ripping up books and toppling over things. or waking up roan. it's a crazy house over here.
Starla said she used the method cream and it did not stain her dipes . i am totally psycho about staining them, though, so i used a fleece liner just in case  I also have Burt's bees ointment that i have not used yet, but i know it is CD friendly, even for pockets. I get them both at Target.
:giggle: about Regis and kelly. I don't watch them, EVER. haha. My friend watches all the time, and she mentioned it, then my mom heard about it and harassed me until i submitted a photo
Esther, we miss you! I was :drif: over your fsot thread the other day ;) Thanks for the :hugs: for X.
I'm so tired! Juliana woke up at 3am coughing and then she puked all over. By the time I got her and me cleaned up she was wide wake. She didn't go back to sleep until 5am. Then was wake at 7. My mom was going to let me sleep in too. I swear every time I get the chance to sleep something always happens. :banghead:
Sara I'm so glad X is doing better today. My friends toddler had runny poo for 6 weeks. She had her into the doctor 3 x times and was told that it was toddler diarrhea.
Off to dress my nekkid girl. Tatiana took her diaper and pants off. My mom put her in a bg. I guess I need to get some pins for my mom to use. She doesn't like the snappi. :headscratch: Anyone use gerber pins? I may have to get those until I order different ones.
Thanks April. I really hope Juliana is getting better and you can get some rest too. I totally kwym about something happening when you have a chance to sleep :(. I think X is getting better, but of course, just before his nap, he had runs again  At least we had two diaper changes today with no poop! :yay: Gotta celebrate those small victories :giggle:
Not me! No mail=federal holiday=my day off! DH and I also took tomorrow off for a 4 day weekend. Woohoo!:lostit:
:woot2: for a super-long weekend with DH and the boys!! :yay:
I was caught up when i started typing this... but then i got caught up in something... so i am going to try to catch back up again

Yea thats how I used to be too. I also used to go in without a list and come out with a TON of *junk*. Now I am trying to do meal planning so I know what I need to buy for the week and get just those things...lets see what did I get this week?
18 baby food jars
2 cans of speghettios
potato chips (must have salty yummies)
cream style corn
regular frozen corn
mexicorn
vitamin water
generic (in its own juice not sugar) canned fruit for the baby (pears etc)
taco seasoning
BBQ sauce
south cream
cheese
velvetta
bagels
cream cheese
taco shells
turkey breast
ground beef
V8 soup (wanted to try it)
sweet potatoes
avocados
cinnamon rolls
and my 6 pack of twisted tea :giggle2:
That all totaled $90 plus DH got OJ, Milk, and Cheerios at Costco for $13.
I posted my meal plan for the week on the thread for the weekend last night but thats enough for 6 or 7 meals each with a veggie in them (admittedly a lot of corn, I am not the biggest veggie lover in the world, but I am *trying* for the kids)

Well in your defense Megan, I hear that EVERYTHING is more expensive in HI than in most other places in the US, so your grocery bill likely would be higher even if you and John were the most frugal people in the entire world.
FWIW, we like to eat steak a lot and DH is willing to see the grocery bill be higher if I'm buying things he really likes. Produce is really expensive around here at this time of year too because the only fruits you can really get locally are apples and cranberries. It just is, and we suck it up so that we can still eat fresh foods. But it's nice to see lower grocery bills in the summer when I can go to farmers markets.

I'm too embarrassed to admit what this week's grocery shopping looked like. I took Isaac with me and ran into my mom while we were there. By the time I got around to actually shopping, Isaac was thiiiiiiis close to a meltdown, so I just scrapped my menu and started grabbing stuff. I'm not proud to admit it, but potato chips are featured as a side dish in not one, but two of this week's dinners.

April -- I'm so sorry about your morning. I hope things are going better for you and J... :hugs:
Hi Amy -- I've missed you too. How is A&P going? That was my favorite class. I'm so excited because I only have 10 weeks left of school - gosh, it's only been almost 7 years...
Jenn - you are too sweet!! Hm, maybe I'll be more happy now that I'm able to pop in. ITA about the prices of groceries in Hawaii. I was going to say the same thing.
Jordan -- I wish I could sew. Your work is beautiful. Who taught you to sew? I can't wait to see what you are listing. I might have to spoil myself!
Megan -- Going from one to two was harder IMO than from two to three. So go for it!! You make beautiful babies :goodvibes:. I use Robeez. Adorable shoes you posted!!!
I used to be a coupon queen... I think my best deal was $300. worth of items for $27. I don't have time anymore though. I  my ERGO. I was grocery shopping Friday and D started to get upset so I just latched him on and threw a blanket over his head. No one knew anything and D was happy as could be! :)
Shannon -- :roflmbo: People tend to think I'm 'underage' too... :roflmbo: and ITA about Robeez.
Lol, Ava was born on 8-19-08. I TRIED for 8-8-8 but it was a no go lol. Even 8-18-8 would have been cool (except it was my old wedding anni w/ ex-h so YUCK).
D was 8/27/08. I also TRIED for 8-8-08... :giggle: I think D actually wanted to be born on 8-28-08. He probably would have been if I didn't drink castor oil :yuck:...
So - I was searching everywhere for a Nursing Necklace because D pinches me soo much. I'm really proud of myself because I decided to suck it up and try to make one. (I was born with a 'decorating deficit' - meaning, I can't) So I'm pretty proud of myself. For me, this is actually good. I've only tried it once and had to keep putting D's hand on it because he just 'reverted' back to pinching me... maybe soon he will catch on.
Okay - off to catchup on my 2,000,000 loads of :laundry:

My time is limited on the desktop, but I just wanted to pop in before I get to cooking and cleaning.
Megan---C has been wearing custom recycled wool slippers from Alioop on DS all winter. They have been great for her. I also have Robeez and pedipeds. She has teeny feet, and I have the 6-12 mo size for her, but there is too much space up by the toes and now that she's cruising and 'walking' with her push toys, I fear that she will trip over her big shoes. The 0-6 mos are too tight. Ugh.
Those shoes you posted are adorable. So boyish and super cool.
I have no idea what I'm going to do for shoes in the spring/summer when she's outside. Perhaps she'll have some rapid foot growth between now and then.
 Cass!
Nice work on the shopping, Shannon. My bill(s) this week were embarrassing. I don't like bringing C with me, but I had no choice twice this week. It's total 'grab and go' when she's with me. I spent $150 last Monday and then another $95 yesterday.
I did have one lone VBSN bamboo cutom dipe I had made by Tallulah Baby awhile back. It was really nice. However, I ordered a M/L and it was too big for C. However, I would compare it to the TIAN, just with more bulk. So, since I love the TIAN, I'm not likely to try the VBSN again.
The plus is that it has snaps, if you like snaps. :)
Jenn--ITA about the produce. It's so expensive this time of year around here, too. I look forward to the spring/summer when I can shop local farmer's markets as well. There is one set up right in the parking lot where I take yoga classes from May-Sept, so it works out perfectly.
Allison--Hope you're enjoying your long weekend! :yay:
 April. SS about another night of not much sleep. Hopefully you are napping right now and Juliana starts to improve quickly.
Sara--Bummer about another runny poo from X before nap. :( This little virus needs to leave!
About the relists--I could be wrong, but if I remember corectly, didn't she relist on Tues the last holiday that fell on a Mon? I think it was MLK Day. :headscratch: Again, not sure if her children are in school (or homeschooled) but I seem to remember that. Also, there was that one week where she stocked her relists at TUWS. Not sure if that's the case again this week.
Not that I'll be able to be near the computer as much without the laptop, anyway. So, I'm safe, but can't help stalk her site, either. :(
Must go get a few things done & scarf down some lunch. Sorry if I missed anyone.

Sorry you and your dd had such a rough night! I hope Juliana is feeling better soon, and that you are able to finally catch up on rest. As far as Gerber pins, I have some that I use occasionally. I've only started pinning recently, but those work better than the locking head ones I ordered online. They are pretty sharp and easy to use (as well as cheap and easy to get).
Talked w/ DH and he soaked DS's hands in dishsoap for 15minutes and the marker came off. Gotta love it. This was only 1/2 hour after I left. Lets see how he fairs the rest of the day.
Okay, I really need to work...I am just not motivated today. I keep looking at FSOT..not that I have PP until my things sell. Oh well...
I will keep my eye out for relists for the mamas needing some dipes!
That is a good tip to file away in my brain, since kids drawing on themselves seems to be some right-of-passage or something.
We love pedipeds here. They work on my sons' chubby feet. I do have the guitar Robeez and a pair of green piggies. Look how cute though. Anyone have Polliwogs?

Well one time she left them all up and you had to scroll through to see which were relisted. It's not that hard though since the availibility thingy says "now" instead of "sold out"' on the relisted ones. She's only done that once anyway, so I might be saying it for no reason.

hey!
1st ....Jenn did you see my late night post for you last night?
i posted a link to some goldfish longies on fsot.
we were out of town this entire weekend. the inlaws renewed their vowels on v-day...how cute lol
so our v-day was :blah:
& i was just stressing out the entire time. his family had a nasty flu last week & i knew there was a good chance that ds would get it too. but it didnt seem to bother them or they just didnt care :( i had to stay quiet, i didnt want dh & i arguing about me being crazy overprotective.(he always always ALWAYS gets on my case)
i let it go, hoping he's be fine. then dh decided he wanted to go to a friends house late on that night & he wanted me to leave ds w/ his mom so we can get out :giggle:
shes never done the whole bath/bedtime routine & i just knew my poor baby would be crying the entire time. dh started getting upset saying i didnt trust his parents blah blah! i was just worried & stressed cause she didnt know where everything was i had like 3 bags for him & shes NEVER put a cd on him!
so i made an agreement w/ him i will go if we go back to the house so i can organize everything your mom would need & show her how to put the diaper on. the poor baby was crying the entire time. it was so hard for me to leave him :(

Tana--you sound like me with cleaning the bathroom. That was going to be my project today, then the ants came back in the kitchen so I just cleaned the whole floor with vinegar and water. Which brings me to your question....the kitchen is laminate and I just use a swiffer with towels, which works great. On the actual hardwoods I use the same system, just with murphy's oil soap.
No experience with the fancy mops here, sorry. :(

Suzy - :yay: on the smurfs. Joyce is the best. I thought she might make one for you. We had Uggs for LJ. They were so cute but the fit was weird. When he would walk, they would slouch down. Pedipeds have always fit well. Robeez are ok but the elastic is a tight fit for us too.

Shannon - Thanks for typing out what you bought. There was even an article about lowering grocery bills in Parents magazine. It said that the inflation is all stemmed from the corn. The test was to shop for $70 a week. HI is more expensive. WE do shop at the commissary to save money. John loves his steaks, chicken, ground turkey and sausage, which adds to the cost. He also likes the high priced "health" foods.

So you all love TIAN too? I tried the old style overnights and they totally leaked something awful and Gabi's not the heaviest wetter. Are these really hard core night diapers? I hate using AIOs especially with the warm weather coming.
Soft soled shoes---polliwogs..awesomeness...not a fan of pediped originals..too slick on the bottom. I love Robeez tredz now for her that she's walking/running. Next go round I think we'll just do robeez all the way. Gabi has skinny feet.

This is the corn cause and effect
Farmers grow more corn to use as ethanol>
More corn is also produced for export because people are eating more meat and need the corn to feed the animals>
More acres go to corn and less to wheat, causing flour bread and cereal to inflate>
Farmers grow more corn and less fruits and vegetables, also raising their prices>
Costs of packaging and processing rose and even though gas has gone down the prices will stay inflated.
I took some of the advice from the article and don't buy the single packaged snacks or yogurts anymore.

I have a Shark steam mop and it is the best money I ever spent on something to clean my home. I  it a lot!!!! It is SOO easy to use and with washable, reuseable pads and only water going in there it is really green too. I used a swiffer wet jet when we lived in the other house but the idea of that cleaning solution on the floors when Howie was dragging himself around on them did not sit well with me. The Shark does a FANTASTIC job. I still like to get on my hands and knees on the floor about twice a year but mostly, the Shark does the whole job. I definitely recommend it to anyone.
Megan--My DH asked me the same question last week. :giggle:

I have a question on soft soled shoes - why? I am not being mean..I know they are good when they are crawling and not moving, but when they walk, shouldn't they get "real" shoes. My sitter asked me to get soft soled shoes for the boys. She has a ranch and hardwood floors, so under very close supervision, they cruise in walkers. Also, I put them on when we go out in the cold. My mom is a huge fan of Stride-Rites, so that's probably what we'll get when they're older.

I like them as both my kids are going to be walkers in the summer (DS was and DD likely will be) and I would *prefer* they go barefoot but the soft soled stuff lets them have the safety of not barefeet but still let them feel the uneven ground when they are running amuck.

Jenn -- I've heard the same thing about the Shark... we don't have hardwood yet, if we decide to put it in I will definitely get one! When I spot wash my floors I grab two rags and 'dance' around the kitchen. Works great. I couldn't stand any of the swiffer products because it was too high maintenance for me. Yes, I do always say that I go for trim color that is least expressed in the yarn. :) I was expecting blue, so I guess that's what I had pictured in my head. Not a dumb question. Yes she is allergic to corn as well as 3-4 other things. Corn is the biggie. Thus, no corn syrup, corn starch, high fructose corn syrup, etc. Also citric acid is made of corn usually. It is tough finding food already made..so I have to cook from scratch. It has made me a better cook. We eat a lot of organic since they don't/can't use high fructose corn syrup.

Hi mamas,
I'm hoping somebody here can help me, as I'm new to this whole motherhood/CDing thing. So, after great trial and heartache, I've finally found a diaper that works GREAT for DS and his "issues" (allergies, blowouts, etc): the BSRB. I bought 2 older used ones from a couple of mamas on the FSOT. I love them, and got online to buy more... only it doesn't seem like I can. What's the secret? It appears these are hightly coveted diapers (trust DS to pick a difficult to find one). Am I doomed to forever be buying older stained dipes? Any help would be really appreciated.
THANKS mamas!!!

Quick drive-by.....
I am busy sewing fleece soakers. We have been battling a rash caused by a sposie almost 4 weeks ago.. I can't seem to get rid of it. We use Thirsties covers with PFs, and the irritation is front hip to crotch at the FOE area. Diaper rash cream made it worse, so I am treating it like the rest of his dermatitis. The fleece soakers seem to help since there is no more rubbing on his legs, but changing that BF poopy diaper was such a mess :yuck:

Thus, no corn syrup, corn starch, high fructose corn syrup, etc. Also citric acid is made of corn usually. It is tough finding food already made..so I have to cook from scratch. It has made me a better cook. We eat a lot of organic since they don't/can't use high fructose corn syrup.
HFCS is in almost everything. We have to avoid that as well. Kyle is not allergic but he has an intolerance so that he cannot have fructose. I am constantly reading ingredients labels.
By the way, I am loving the BSRBs. I need more.....kindly asking for some help on Thursday. :giggle:

Jaclyn - Wow, how did you figure out her allergy. I am sure she is the healthiest eater on the block.
For relists, you kind of just have to wait and keep checking.
Gladeofmelons - We love to help each other out. You will get a nice new squishy bsrb yet.

Hi mamas,
I'm hoping somebody here can help me, as I'm new to this whole motherhood/CDing thing.
Hi, mama! I was in a similar situation two weeks ago. One of my twins can only have bamboo or hemp next to his skin. I didn't know how to get BSRB outside of FSOT until Tana told me about this thread. Thanks to these wonderful mamas giving me info and helping me stalk, in two weeks, I got 9+. If you need help with this week's stocking, let us know. There's usually a couple of us on the wagon and willing to help.
I hope I'm not talking out of turn here. I just know what it's like to not know where to start.

hey everyone! wow, I hope I haven't missed a ton- I couldn't keep up with you ladies over the weekend/last friday  so I hope nothing huge and noteworthy happened around here :giggle:
sara- I DID read about poor X's rash, big :hugs: to you mama for how hard that must have been. It's so hard to see them hurting and not be able to instantly fix it, and I am SO glad to hear it's doing better- X is so lucky to have you for a mama!
Jenn- I  your new avi, I have to pause and look at those shorties everytime I see you post :giggle:
Esther- welcome back, we've all missed you! I havent been posting too much either, whenever I find the time to, Ben inevitably needs me or gets into something he shouldn't :giggle:
Allison- those photos of the twins you posted on that other bsrb pic thread are SO darling- you NEED to enter them in next month's photo contest at bsrb! :)
welcome to the new mommies, like Allison said, we are here to help you score! :giggle:
Just wanted to say :cowwave: to Megs! :) Some of that wool you are selling is so pretty! I have yet to be able to bite the bullet and buy any wool over 15 dollars, lol.. (meaning I only have a couple used soakers). I have traded artwork for wool/stuff so I keep hoping I can just do more of that, lol. I have a pair of scrappies on the way, I can't WAIT to see them finished!
Silke- how hard are fleece soakers to make? I really need to learn, I even bought some fleece, but it is still just sitting there

We did all soft soled shoes for J through the winter because she was still a beginner and her feet were not really touching the ground outdoors. Now that summer is approaching and she's a runner (not just a walker) she and Howie will spend all their time in crocs. I  crocs, and I really abhor shoes that tie. I don't even wear them myself, and I'm certainly not going to try to wrestle them onto my kids. NO WAY!

Children in bed
Laundry folded
Diapers soaking
Livingroom/ hall/ kitchen vacuumed
Kitchen mopped
That will feel better in the AM. I hate coming downstairs in the morning to a disheveled house. I still need to do dishes but that needs to wait until diapers are done so it doesn't steal all the hot water.

Esther- thanks for asking about Ben :hugs: We have another appt. with the urologist on the 25 or 26th of this month, I can't remember. He's having another U/S directly before his urologist appt., and I am also taking a cd of all the images/film from his mri, u/s, and vcug. So  that we will have answers soon! oh, and on a bsrb note, I saw on that other bsrb photo thread you said your bsrbs get stiff? what is your wash/dry routine? I just ask because mine used to get stiff, but now I keep them soft as the day they come  by using ecover and air-drying them, not putting them in the dryer until they are super close to being dry (or not putting them in at all).

Hi everyone!!!!!! We had a crazy day since I posted this morning. Eva fell and bit through her lip ( that was dramatic)! Then my dog decided to poop all over the carpet. Take not that this all happened 45 minutes before I had to leave for class!
Then, I found out that I got a "C" on my A&P test when I was so confident that I did better. Well, after I got my test back I read through it and I didn't get many questions wrong in the multiple choice section, it was all in the essay questions. My teacher took points off for say "nursing a child" instead of "feeding an offspring". WTF???? There were many more corrections like this that made me go:headscratch:
Well step-dad just got home with chinese! be back in a few!

hmmm. well, my dh does not have many more irl friends than i do (although he does not have NRL friends to compensate either) so he does not comment on my NRL friends :giggle: but so many times i wish i could have my NRL friends IRL, KWIM? :roflmbo: at all my abbreviations.

I skimmed a bit..no way i can catch up to you all...what's this talk of relists?! :giggle: had no idea she did that ever.
That's one of the reasons we stick together :giggle: we've got the inside scoop :lostit:
I want to say that I  the TIANs too. I have had a real love for Bububebe OBV for overnight for the longest time, but I have been fully converted now. I  the TIAN. It's so different from the original fit ONs, you should give one a try :)
For those interested in getting a steam mop, I just got one a couple weeks ago from Big Lots for $55. It is a factory reconditioned one, but I haven't had any problems. It looked brand new to me.
thanks mel! i am so going to go to big lots tomorrow to look for one!!:lostit:

Some girls my age (& I call them girls because they still act like they are in highschool) think I'm crazy for being so obsessed with my "mom" forums. But it's not like they are there to support me and talk about mommy things.
That being said... I wish we were all IRL friends. We should probably all move to the same state and call it a day! :giggle2:

If you have any sewing experience, it's easy and quick. Since there is no fraying with fleece, I just sewed it together. I dug through my scraps for the soakers. Once you do your first one, it goes really fast.
I used this free pattern:
http://katrinassqs.blogspot.com/2007/10/free-soaker-pattern.html
make sure to use the one for fleece
and then this for the internal soaker

That being said... I wish we were all IRL friends. We should probably all move to the same state and call it a day! :giggle2:
ITA! You know, southeastern MA is really beautiful ;)
I have met some of the moms from my ivillage playgroup IRL and even though you are technically "meeting" for the first time, it is not awkward at all. It was just like getting together for lunch with friends I see all the time, except that I had only ever "seen" them online. I know that if we met up, it would be the best playdate that ever was ;)
Oh, i forgot i wanted to post the pic i submitted for the Regis and kelly baby contest. It's not my favorite photo of X, but it had to be taken by me, and within the past month. So, i think it captures his personality and that is what i was hoping for :)
I wish we could all meet up. That would be so much fun. I loved all the acronyms too. I think in acronyms and try to sensor some out for DH. He speaks in acronyms now but only to mock me (ie. NRL)
I think in acronyms and I have only used them in very, very limited IRL instances. But what's funny is that sometimes . . . I feel weird saying the real word(s) for something that I only talk about on here and use acronyms for. Like I don't know how to tell someone what kind of dipes we like because I want to say B-S-R-B since that's what I type here :giggle:
I have been watching for relists and still no movement on her site.
We could all totally have jobs in espionage. The phrase "no movement on her site" made me :roflmbo:
Ok . . . kids are in bed AT LAST. I always feel terrible saying how glad I am that my kids are in bed because I don't want anyone to think I don't love them or something. But I am relieved when they go to bed :) We ate homemade pizza for supper tonight and it was delish.
And to Suzy, I did see the longies you linked last night but I am really trying to get away from longies at this time of year (because I'm excited about spring) and those ones are WAY out of my price range. I once saw some goldfish longies with natural colored trim and I loved it, or else I think I would like it with aqua trim. The norm seems to be goldfish with black trim which I don't really care for, especially if I'm going to spend that kind of money. But I really appreciate you thinking of me :)

Aww, Blake is down for his nap and LJ will be waking up in a half an hour. :banghead:.
April - Blake's right eye seemed to turn in and a friend's baby had had recent eye surgery. I asked his ped about it and she referred us to a optometrist. He said that Blake's eye did turn in when he looked to the side but wasn't a bad case. He thought it would self correct when his nose bride grew. He has pseudostrabismus, which is better than just strabismus and normally requiring surgery.
Heather - My short rows are still going the regular stitch yo looks pretty good. I still get little holes for the purl yo. I basically use this http://smartypantsknitspatterns.blogspot.com/2008/11/short-rows.html , which is what the sheepy pants pattern basically calls for. MollyJones did give me a few pointers on tension. At least, I know I am doing it right. I just need more practice. It is funny because I was doing Maddy's tut and at the end she's like, see that's it, but that isn't it, mine doesn't look like that. :roflmbo:
Jenn - How neat that you got to meet up with some NRL friends IRL. Btw, it is natural to feel that way when your kids go to sleep. It is hard work being a mommy.

Super fly-by...I will be back around 10 when I get back from yoga and everyone's in bed.
Jordan--:drif: :drif: :drif: YES! That bag is awesome & everything a knitter needs.
Do you think someone would be interested in the whole set or just the drawstring project bag or needle roll?
:hugs: mama. Hope the appt goes well.
Sorry about the crazy/bad day. And wth, I would be pissed about the test.:banghead:
Fly by....
Jordan - The bag looks great. I think you'd do well selling knitting bags.
Hannah - Yes, Ben is still in my prayers.
So, it is official someone signed a 2 year lease to rent our house. He seemed like a nice guy and his rent will come automatically from his pay check. He has no pets or kids. He was also interested in cd'ing his unconceived baby. He started talking to me about it. :lostit:
Yay! Glad you found a renter. Are you planning on keeping the house there in HI or selling it later on?
about NRL friends... I thought about it long and hard. What is wrong with getting support and making friends with people online? It's just like the old days when ppl had "pen pals".
:giggle2:
I know! We all need to move and have a big meet-up. Can you imagine what all our DH would have to say about this?:giggle2:

lol Amy..i do stuff like that too! and ita with you about the friend thing. I'm the first of my friends to have a baby...until just recently. I live 2 hours from them all and have been a sahm in a new city for almost 2 years now. EBFing definitely keeps you holed up in the house a lot..and I'm not the type to just run up and join things. This forum helped me avoid ppd i'm sure of it..having that outlet for people who actually understand what's going on with you..huge. DH works 70+ hours a week so yea..it's so so hard to stay sane in constant babyville! He's learned not to comment about it :giggle2: it is my happy place man back off!
I agree! This forum really helps me feel like I have friends too because I don't have many irl. I used to, but not now that I have LO's.
Di that yarn is gorgeous!
Megan yay for renting out the house.
Juliana's check up went ok. The ped still heard icky stuff in her lungs. With all the :yuck: she's been doing she's maintaining her weight at 10lbs, so that's good. While we were in the hospital the doctor noticed Juliana's right eye wonders and recommended we see a opthamologist. I've been watching it closely at home and noticed it does every once in awhile. I mentioned this to the ped and she thought it was a good idea. So we have an appointment next month. That's the soonest we could get in.

I think you would do best offering some full sets and some just the bag, some just the drawstring project bag and some of just the needle roll. I am :drif: at the very idea of a bag like that but I know it would probably be a lot more than I could afford. Buying just some of the pieces (a needle roll appeals to me most of all right now) to make a full set slowly over time would be what I'd probably do.

Jordan - Can you post that link again for the knitting bag. I kind find it.
Some of you asked about DD allergies..we had allergy testing done at 4 months. I wish it was sooner since she had formula at times and they are 95% corn syrup solids. But, we learned and she went on a special formula and turned into a great kid. I knew she had something since she acted just like DS and he had allergies.
Well, I am in the decluttering mood. I just went and took tons of pictures of DDs clothes - they are soo small and cute. I am trying to build up the PP and then into the checking account it goes :crossfingers:

Jordan - That is so neat! The only thing I kind of don't like is the big drawstring part of the main bag. I see why it is there though. How much would a custom cost?
Jaclyn - Glad you caught it early and were able to see the signs. Thank you for sharing. Oh, and I love decluttering, not so good at actually tranferring pp though.
Well, I made a trade for the last of my longies. My warm ice for her SBish karate pants. Our asking prices had a $4 difference and she was wanted to just do an even trade. They are a M/L so they will be a little long but I can cuff them and B's mediums are just the right size now.

Oh, wow...I don't think there's any way I can totally catch up on what I've missed. I have read each and every post, but I know my limitations on catching up. Plus, in case you're not tired of my stupid computer woes, the desktop has its' own issues & I've been kicked off and error messaged about 20 times in the past 20 minutes.
I am taking these computer issues as a sign that I need to go to bed early tonight. :giggle:
Jordan--I was going to say the same thing as Jenn...try offering the pieces of that knitting set separately as well as an entire set. I know that there is no way I could afford a whole set, but someone could. :) And, some people have a bag that works for them, but would love a needle roll or notion bag..or both. :) I have a needle roll, but I was just thinking last night that I could use a bigger notion bag.
I'm so excited to see what all is stocking at TUWS! There are some great guests, that's for sure.
However, my PP is going to be happy, but I'm not so much. The earliest I get home from yoga is 9:35, and that's where I'll be Wed.
April--hopefully the eye thing turns out to be nothing major. I will be thinking of J when she has her appt next month.
Hannah--I've been thinking of Ben as well. Thanks for the update. :hugs: :)
Megan---You had me :roflmbo: with quite a few of your posts. You are a funny girl. Especially your post in response to Esther's post. (referenced below)
Congrats on renting your house!!
Oh, and Blake in a walker already...uh-oh. :)
Esther--your comment to Megan about the renter trying to pick her up was hilarious. Thanks for the laugh.

I know there is a new mommy, but I got so lost in the posts that I can't remember her name.
If you're reading this mama, and welcome!! You've come to the right place to score a few BSRBs for your DS. SS about his allergies, but glad that you finally found a solution!
Sara---I missed the board today. Not having my laptop is the pits. I wish you lived closer, too. I need tech support right next door.
I loved your post with all of the acronyms. My DH has zero idea what we talk about on here, and he could care less. He still can't remember what LOL means when someone sends him a text or email with that acronym. (I'm dead serious.) :giggle:
Hopefully the laptop is back in order tomorrow night.
Silke-Your soakers a so cute!! Nice work!!
Heather--Your knitting is beautiful. If you decide that the choco or bananafish shorties aren't going to work out....you can let me know. :giggle2: Did you knit them for Gabi or for another lucky baby?
I love your new avi. She is a beautiful little girl.
I don't know if I can remember anything else. I'm surprised I remembered this much after how my memory has been operating today. In addition to my stove incident, I left my water bottle and cell phone at home when I went to yoga. I got everything together and put them down to get my coat on and walked right out the door without them. :banghead:
Anyway...night ladies and I'll check in at some point tomorrow. I'll probably have to lurk until naptime.

Amy- Some gm's were really hard to get and some people actually used to pay in the hundreds for them. I think it's crazy though.
Di- Hope you get your computer fixed. What a pita. And yes, I'll for sure do seperate pieces on the knitting sets. I'm looking at 5 yards of fabric total for the tote, drawstring, and needle roll and that is alot in just materials. And I'm seriously excited about TUWS too!
