We ended up with a sick bebe so we didn't go. We are going to go next week and I am going to call them and ask about thier nursing policy.

I have nursed in Denny's tons of times, it's right down the street from our house so we take visitors there for breakfast so we can get out and about early.

I think the big deal with the Denny's story wasn't that she was nursing, it was the way she was doing it. My parents were actually in the restaurant as it was happening so I got the first-hand scoop.
The woman had a toddler, like 3 who was partly nursing. So, she pulled out her breast and left it hanging there while she ate. The child was running around the restaurant, into everything, and would randomly run back to mommy for a sip occasionally. Granted, she was in a conservative community but no one would have said anything if she nursed the child and then covered herself again, it was they way she was doing it that upset others. Other customers were getting uncomfortable and asked the waiter to ask her to simply use a cover, especially since the child was old enough to move it for a drink and put it back, so she wasn't just sitting there with a bare breast. Yes, it is actually illegal to ask her to do so, according to state law... They only asked her to leave AFTER she got mad and started yelling and causing a scene because "her rights were being violated."

Sigh, tough situation and, legally, she is in the right so she will win her suit. However, it's cases like this that make breastfeeding in public such a touchy subject. I think a little respect for those around you and some common courtesy go a long way.

Sorry but that child was NOT 3. I believe he was a little over a year old.

I wasn't there, so I can't comment on how she was nursing.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to upset anyone! I am just repeating what my mama told me! Perhaps he was big for his age? Or perhaps my mama is really out of touch with little kid age/size now that all of us are grown... :dunno:

Either way, I was just saying that, perhaps, the WHOLE story wasn't picked up in the news... :hide:

I breastfeed our little guy and will until he self-weans, so I REALLY wanted to side with the mama in this story, however, I disagree with her method. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, I was just sharing mine.

I'm glad I got the whole story. I don't agree with her methods either. and in that case I am gald we never made it over to nurse-in there. Thank you for letting us know what your Mom witnessed.

If you weren't there how do you know how old the child was? :headscratch:
