How does one go about finding a pediatrician?
I'm on the state medicare (Title 19) insurance, and I thought I had it figured out, but then I lost my general practicioner and got assigned to someone I've never even heard of. :headscratch:
I need to find a peditrician for my LO who's due in 6 weeks. But I don't know how to find someone who is acceptable to the insurance AND wont hassle me about selective vaxing and cloth diapering and such.
Any words of wisdom?

Call the 800 number for your state insurance...or visit their website if they have one. Ask (or search) for a list of approved pediatrician's in your area, then get to calling their offices. Bring up your BIG things first...mostly the selective vaxing. Some peds, at least around here in Southern Illinois, won't even take you (well, your child) on as a patient if they know that you selective/delay vax. Once you get your smaller list of peds from that...and trust me, it will cut your list down considerably...then start trying to line up interviews with peds. You could also call up to the local hospital and ask the nurses on OB/maternity floor if they have any recommendations for a ped based on what you are planning on doing.

IF you are delivering at a hospital I think you should call ahead & ask what pediatricians are on staff there. If your newborn's pediatrician is not affiliated with your hospital then he/she will be seen by one there and it is important to speak to the pediatrician ahead of time if you're selectively vaxing because you may want to decline some of the newborn vaccination(s). You may turn out to like the pediatrician that works through the hospital!

Basically what the previous person said in their last sentence LOL.

Are you in the DSM area?
When I moved to DSM, I just looked up which peds and GP's my insurance covered. From that list, I called the offices and asked how the dr's feel about non-vaxxing. All of the Methodist Lutheran Blank places refused patients who were not up to date. The Mercy places were very pushy about vaccines unless you were delayed. I just take my kids to Mercy once a year, and they have regular chiro visits.
I did schedule consultations with several peds who took my insurance and accepted non-vaccinated children. It was nice to meet and talk to the dr and feel them out before committing.
