So I have a friend who just weaned her baby(15mo) almost 2 weeks ago. She just called me and wanted to know if I have ever heard of mamas feeling not only emotionally sick but physically also. She said she feels like she did when she first was prego.(she said theres NO way she is again), Sick to her stomach and not well. She also is starting to feel very depressed. I know I've heard of mamas feeling blue but never sick. So if any of you can give me some advice for her:thumbsup: , she's going to call her doctor but is just upset now. Thanks so much ladies

I have no idea
But here's a thought...Could it be hormones getting back to normal and that's making her feel icky?

Thats what I thought also I think she would just love to hear that it's normal or atleast has happened to others...NWIM. I feel so bad for her, I know I couldn't wean right now I'd be devestated(even though she wanted to) Not that I'm saying shes wrong in weaning because when it's right for your family it's right. I just know I'd have a hard time with it.

I've had this happen. When I wean my babies I always go through a few days of feeling sick. Sick to my stomach, tired, worn out, just icky in general. If it gets too bad though, she should have it checked out, particulary if she starts having a fever, as it could be a breast infection.

some women actually get PPD from the crashing hormones - so if the depression doesn't stop soon, or gets worse, she should definitely seek help!
it might also be a combination of some bug she picked up, and feeling blue. life has a way of hitting us when we're down sometimes...
hope she's better soon!

When I weaned my first daughter she was too young. we went from nursing all the time to zero. It was complicated, and I know better now.....
anyway, I got so sick. I ended up in bed for about ten days. then I got ppd so bad. I was close before, but when I quit I really crashed.
If I had it to do again I wouldn't have weaned that young. If I had known anything, anything at all, I could have started nursing again. Two weeks is not too long to go without nursing and start breastfeeding. It might make her feel better. She may need it as much as her daughter.
