What is a tri-fold or a quad-fold? I havne't got to start using my prefolds yet just one here or there Is have to use up all my disposables first. DH says so! I need to get some Thirsties PUL covers then! :goodvibes:

Tri folding is folding them in thirds and quad folding is folding them in forths. I usually do it horizontally instead of vertically. Does that make sense? I'll see if I can find a link

Difference in her wool than others? I got recycled wool from Shirley. It holds so well. My others hold well, but just dont get the wear i get out of my recycles. I find myself always reaching for the 2 i have from SHirley.

It was supposed to be out last, like, family dinner before we move and my brother was just a complete arse. Making fun of me whenever he could and not just like haha making fun of but hurting my feeling making fun of. And then my dad, all he had to say was what a horrible teen I was (which I wasen't :headscratch:) and how hard I was to raise :yack: I just left there completely down and thinking "gosh I'm glad I am moving away from that"

:bighug: family sucks sometimes.... that's why I refuse to move closer to my family.... I love them to pieces, but we drive each other up the wall if we spend too much time together

Sometimes we will be driving around, out of town, and my belly goes...bloodlvobosnkbpnsbn[snb....and im like. oooop :bagoverhead: "umm can you stop at a gas station and get me some pepto or imodium?" and my dh is like sure.... he always laughs at me , but not to make me feel bad, to make the situtation relaxer. I have IBS, so its random. i get the poos often actually. He has jsut learned to accept it and not make me feel embarrassed.

awww :hugs: when my hubby's in the mood he's the same way - he always knows how to lighten things up

:cheer: you are so.... together.... I have 2 less kids, 30+ loads of laundry and a mountain of dishes. I seriously don't know how you do it.

most days I don't :hugs: and I have a hubby who can't stand it when the house get's out of whack, even in the slightest, so he takes over :loony: he has a bit of OCD, neat freak syndrome, I feel bad for the poor guy

Yeah, it really bothers me when you goes after my mothering style. Especially since he doesn't have kids  "wha'd ya mean your homeschooling?" "you're such a hippie putting that poor baby in cloth diapers" :yack: I was gonna tell him about mama cloth but I thought that would be pushing it.

:hugs: I've unfortunately had to learn what not to talk about round family - it keeps me much less frustrated....

Hello again ladies, I got supper all cooked and watched Even Almighty! LOL

Curious: what is a really good night time diaper? I am using prefolds during the day, do you use them at night too?

I just use a toddler prefold with an extra doubler more than I use for day time

HI my ladies

The day was good, but WINDY!!!

Sounds like a fitted not a cover. My covers are just like a outer with a pul or something inside, no fabric. That doesnt make much sense. How bout, a fitted is nice squishy diaper, usually with a inner, but would soak through, so it needs a cover. I put fleece or wool over my fitteds. Covers over my prefolds or just wool over my prefolds.

:yeahthat: It also depends on what the liner is. It might be a cover. I love fleece. I have some recycled wool that I like too, if you need wool products check out Ewe Need It (http://hyenacart.com/EweNeedIt/) wool she makes super yummy producs. As for fitteds they have elastic in the legs and back and also have either snaps or Aplix but require a cover. Some popular fitteds are Goodmamas (http://store.thegoodmama.com/), Mutts (http://www.muttaqinbaby.com/) and Piddle Poodles (http://hyenacart.com/piddlepoddles/).

There are soakers which are like pull on underwear, for lack of a better word, and then there are shorties and longies.

Do they have a opening in the back elastic? Kinda looks like they do. They would pockets if it does. And pockets are good, they are good outing diapers. All you need is a microfiber to stuff in it or a prefold. But if there is not way to stuff it, then it looks like a cover. Its definitely NOT a fitted.

monicadd
03-15-2009, 08:23 PM
Ohh thats what ya meant by difference, Yeah soakers look like undies. Then shorties are more shorts shaped, tho i have a soaker that has a slight leg on it. And longies are usually capri length or pants length. :) Sorry im slow sometimes.

You can put just about any cover that i know of over a prefold. And bulkiness would be the only problem with a cover over a fitted. Sometimes my wrap covers dont fit as well over my fitted as my fleece or wool does. Thats personal opinion for us tho.

I'm not sure what the soft whisper wrap is. But a wrap is another word for a cover. It can go over a PF or fitted.

I seriously love fleece. The biggest tricks I have learned is don't wash them with your cloth diapers, either wash them seperately or with other clothes. Wash them on hot water with lots of fabric softner.

Personally i wouldnt pay extra for fitted to cover them. I have like 4 fitted and the only reason i have them is cause they are ALL firefighter print of some sort and my dh picked them out.

Some people pay crazy prices for fitteds to cover them. Not my thing.

Doubler would depend on your wetter. I used a prefold with a doubler at certain times of the day, when keke wets more. sometimes tho, i just use a premium prefold, and slap me a cover right over it, and i change it like every hour, the prefold that is.

its good to ask questions, its how i have been learning, these ladies rock.

Macy, that sounds so good, but id go blueberry. strawberry and banana!!

MMMmmmm...peanut butter girl scout cookies....

Ok, the year was 1996, the glasses give it away. If DH and I (not married at that time) weren't so nearsighted, you'd have no idea what year that pic could be, it's so timeless. I am 25 in the picture. You all were very close.

I got inspired by Monica's photo therapy thing, and the photos of everyone's hairdos. I found a pic of me at 18, 28, and 38, and I look like three different people. And then if you are going by hairdos, dozens of different people :roflmbo: . I'll be 39 this year. I have got to put myself in more of the photos. The kids aren't going to believe their mom was anything but an old fart by the time they hit their teens.

Melissa, I think your brother and dad just don't deal with grief and awkward feelings well, and they are REALLY going to miss you. Kind of like the boy in 7th grade who knocks down the girls he likes, KWIM? Try not to take it personally, men in some ways are always 7th grade boys.

I had some of her fitteds. Yeah those are covers. Are the fleece on the outside or PUL. Here's her site http://www.mypreciousbabybyapril.com/store/Default.asp You would use those as a cover or a prefold, or fitted. You could also do a trifold with those too. trifold (http://www.greenmountaindiapers.com/howto.htm)

Well, the pins I have, the part you slide the pointy end out of had two pieces, like it's wearing a hat. You slide the top piece up to get the pin out, and slide it back down to keep the pin from being able to come out.

Yeah that's how mine are but they don't lock when I push them down. :dunno:

OH hey, Cheryl, my family has me freaked about rattlesnakes, trantulas, scorpians and red ants in SA. Any advice?

[QUOTE=smchick02;6635199][QUOTE=princemelissas;6635044]I have a couple of fitteds. I think they are cute and they are easier, IMO, out in public because I can just snap them on and put a cover one instead of having to fold the PF. A doubler is something you add to a cloth diaper for added absorbancy. What is the name brand on those covers?

I had some of her fitteds. Yeah those are covers. Are the fleece on the outside or PUL. Here's her site http://www.mypreciousbabybyapril.com/store/Default.asp You would use those as a cover or a prefold, or fitted. You could also do a trifold with those too. trifold (http://www.greenmountaindiapers.com/howto.htm)

Okay thank you! How could you use them all three ways? I understand the cover part but how would you use them as a prefold or a fitted?

Again, haven't lived in SA, but I have lived in several other areas of TX and gotta say, never seen a rattlesnake or a tarantula but in a zoo and scorpions only in rural areas. Fire ants, yes, they are a problem. They generally don't come inside unless it's very rainy or they are desperate for food. But you do need to keep your kids out of the ant mounds, they think it's fun to play in them and then they get swarmed and many bites, bad reaction, etc. And if you have them in your yard you will need toxic stuff to kill the mound, none of the "green" or natural stuff will kill them.

Really what freaks newcomers out are the tree roaches. They are bigger than what you are used to, and they can fly. Again, generally do not come inside where you can see them unless there is a lot of rain, they have no other food options, or maybe they are being driven from somewhere else by spraying. But they can scare the heck out of you at night outside or in the garage! We have mosquitos too, but they are probably no worse than whay you are used to up there. Most Texas municipalities spray for them too, unlike many in the midwest who are scared of the sprays. But we don't have nearly as many people die from West Nile or encephailitis either.

But that is the price you pay for a warmer climate! Personally, the bugs are not a problem for us, they don't bother us often. And if they do bother us, a trip from the exterminator fixes it every time.

Me too mama! I think that's my problem, I've been on DS too much lately. I don't need to buy or sell any CDs, haven't been able to make many of them, I'm slowing down on woolies to see if they are practical for this summer (not for the heat, the self-feeding and playing outside). I live in NC and we have the red/fire ant problems. Last summer they didnt let the kids play outside on the playground at school cause there was a infestation. We also have tree roaches. Not where i live now, but at the beach where we used to live. When you turned the lights on outside at night, it looked like a killer bug movie..LOL. And the skeeters are bad here. Here in NC that is. Not so much in my town. All and all those arent to bad of things to have to worry about.

We are getting rid of our computer moniter and the new TV will now be our moniter, so I will be sitting in the living room, the hub of the house when I'm on the computer and won't be able to ignore the things that need to be done or hide away in the bedroom when the children are watching a movie or something, therefore, making me spend less time on teh computer.

We did this. Now I spend MORE time on the computer because I'm not taking time away from the girls, so it's hard to actually get completely OFF and go do things.

Im used to it, all three of my babies have had it. The bigger ones moved on to sleep walking or talking. Dh has a hard time not being able to comfort his baby. I usually hold him a few mins telling him he is safe and mama has him. then i introduce the bottle to him. And he usually wake us enough with shhh ing and rocking, to relax and take the bottle, which the sucking of actual liquid wakes him enough to pull our the terror. Thats what i just did. then i rock im a few more mins and put him back in his bed. But only if he is done crying and is calm. which he is.

I'm supposed to go to bed soon. But I'm used to working until after midnight, so while I reeeeeeeally need sleep, it's so hard to go to sleep early. I suck at sleeping anyway :giggle: I need to find some food and maybe watch a movie.

:hugs: :hugs: for keke.

Dd1 still has horrid reflux and the reflux meds don't seem to help much so I'm trying to eliminate a different food every two weeks to see if it gets better. We're on a full week already of no milk products at all and no change--she was horribly refluxy tonight. She was trying to say prayer and having to stop and swallow a bunch of acid every couple of words
I was really hoping it was dairy as she used to have bad dairy issues....

Faith what meds do they have her on? Keke had reflux as a baby and zantac didnt work, only axid did. But i hear alot of kids need something like prevacid or prilosic. They are better for bad acid. i have reflux terrible. i have to take 2 zantac prescribed and nexium before bed. Cause my reflux affects my asthma when i sleep.

Id love to sell all my Nikon stuff and go Canon, but i have to much invested now. I hear Canons are the best. I dont like the white balance issues and saturation issues Nikons have. But oh well. I do love my camera tho.

The 5d Mark II is my dream camera, thats the mac daddy i want!!!

The book is a good foundation to photography. Use it. I will teach you tons. And its always best to read your camera manual front to back, even if you think you wont need that section. Its important to know what your camera can do, whether you use that part or not. :)

Prevacid. I'm not sure how long it takes to work but it was weeks and doing nothing at all. Also the OTC reflux meds do nothing. Zero. Even the "ultimate strength" adult ones. But she says Pepto Bismol helps so I think it might just be food-related (so her stomach can't handle it, so the Pepto helps the general stomach pain with it and the antacids do zilch).

Yea, I need to get going on reading the manual. But I've been into knitting lately so I haven't. DH has read the manual and the book now. He's getting really into it.

I would love to learn as much as I can from you! I've seen your pictures, you're awesome! :bighug:

Faith, just be careful, pepto could constipate her. That how i am with meds, they really dont work. They got me on a few and i find sometimes i have to take more. I constantly feel ick from it.

make sure she drinks lots of water if she can while taking the pepto and dont over do it, pepto contains aspirin. Which could irritate her belly more in the long run.

Does she see a GI dr? maybe its time she see them as a specialist. there are other meds that could help her.

Yeah, pepto is nasty so it's the last resort and she only gets it once every couple of weeks. Normally she'll fall asleep propped more upright on the recliner (in her bed she sleeps at the bottom of the incline and just avoids it and so it doesn't help). We have the # of the specialist but it's an hour away so I've been avoiding it figuring they'd ask us to do a food diary first anyway, so I'm getting the basic food part out of the way now. I think we'll check soy and wheat and if no luck we might have to hit up that specialist. :yuck: Dd1 was just getting over her fear of doctors, too....
