So Z has looked like this since a few weeks old. It will dissapear for a few days and then in a matter of hours be back again. After about 50 steroid creams and no change we were referred to a pediatric allergist where he had a prick test. All was negative, but the allergist said he suspected it might be egg. So per allergist and derm we cut out egg and nut (dh has cashew allergy) We cut out egg and for 2 weeks he was completly rash free. This is the first time his skin has been actually clear since a few weeks old. :yay:

We had a family emergency and got stuck eating at an aunts house were I acidentally had some egg, and Z might have too since I wasnt entirely in control of his diet. So within a few hours it was back. Ive called the allergist back and he said he wants to do a rast (blood test) to see if its actually an allergy to egg or nut. He said if its a true allergy it will show up. But ive read it may not show up in infants that havent had a lot of exposure to it? Hes only had it in breastmilk, and a bit "in" foods is likely but since he nibbles its not much.

Heres some pics weve taken over the last few months. What do you think? Allergic reaction?

I dont think that looks allergy at all... :2cents:

Im sure you would have seen other signs if it was but my son had that same rash under the arms and groin and belly area (the one on your LOs armpits and forearms) and he had scarlet fever. :yuck:

Maybe google rashes and search through the images database?? I dunno... I am probably no help here.

Good luck! BTW- is it hurting your LO?

Looks like when my dd gets heat rashes. I don't know about food allergies tho.

Is doesnt hurt him, but he tries to itch at his legs, stomach and face. I have no pics of his face, but it looks like someone slapped him in the face on both cheeks.

The rash under the arms etc. has only happend once. The derm and allergist thought it might be a food allergy since he is getting these hives and exzema. He also had a bad flare up and a seizures after his flu shot (containing egg) so the derm told me to eliminate the egg and nut.

Were just grasping at straws here, so any input is appreciated. :goodvibes:

Looks like an allergy to me. My dd gets hives like that. Does it go away with allergy meds?

If it has happend a few times before I dont think it is scarlet fever.

I would prob say allergy too.

Fifths Disease. The outbreaks happen late winter/early spring :)

That's what I was going to say. The rash can come and go for quite a while. It's not anything to worry about if that is it. I would still have him tested for allergies though. Good luck.

My first reaction would be contact dermatitis (reacting to perfumes/dyes in the clothing or laundry soap/rinse). Second would be food allergy (my middle dd gets hives from dairy) and if breastfed then you would need to evaluate your diet. Common allergens are dairy, eggs, wheat, corn, soy, peanuts. The dairy and corn are really tough because they are in almost every prepackaged item available to buy. My youngest was sensitive to both of these (and has since outgrown it) when she was tiny and it was hard for me to find much to eat that I didn't make myself.
