My twins are 13 months and were conceived with Clomid and a trigger shot after many many months of being unable to get pregnant on our own.
Given the difficulties we experienced conceiving them, coupled with the fact that I am nursing and have not had the return of my menstrual cycle we werent extrememly cautious. We should have been.
I took a pregnancy test last night and some how by the grace of God Im pregnant! This is freaking unbelieveable. We're in complete shock.
I didnt want another child until the twins were 3 or 4. My husband wasn't sure he wanted anymore at all, period. We are both in disbelief that this happened! I have no clue how far along I would be since I havent had a period in years! yikes!!
Can we do this? I mean seriously. We are happily married, we have a house, jobs, insurance, transportation etc and all baby stuff since we just had a boy & girl already.
It's just going to be tough with 3 little ones. Somone please give me hope!!! Has anyone else had this happen?
Im not telling anyone till I go to the doctor. I need to be happy about this when I share the news because I think people are going to think we are nuts for having 13 month old twins and being pregnant again! :lostit:

Congratulations!!! May God give you the strength to handle what you have been given. Remember you'll have a few month (6-9 depending on how far along you are) to adjust and accept this new little one. Also remember that by the time the baby arrives the twins will be almost 2 and even 2 is a lot more independant that 13 months.

good luck! what a story. there will be a fair amount of separation between your kids, so trust in that fact. my singletons are 18 months and 19 months apart, then the gap between my 3rd child and the first set of twins is 22 months and then 26 months between the two sets of twins.
as for the breastfeeding, what really affects your cycle is how long you go between feedings, so for example, if you nurse all day long, but the babies sleep most of the night (6-8 hours) then you body could be releasing the hormones to start your cycle going. and you may not be bleeding, but still in cycle, if that makes any sense. i know in my own case, my stuff gets all out of whack.
just take a deep breath, wait until the OB tells you how far along-- more or less that you are- and be sure to take care of yourself.
cheers! :goodvibes:

Of course you can do it! Our twins were 9 months old when I found out I was pregnant. We did IVF for our twins so it was also a total shock to us.
I am not sure how you pregnacy was with the twins, but my singleton was much easier. I had some help for the first couple of weeks, but after that I was on my own. I didn't try to be supermom at first, just made sure all the kids were taken care of and alive. After our routine and schedules were established, it became so much easier to do other things. It is nice that the baby will sleep a lot at first, so you have a little more time getting the twins use the changes.
I would say that is the most important things, establish a schedule for baby and a routine for the house. Our twins are now 2 and baby is 11 months old, so I did survive. But honestly somedays it will just be survival mode and that is okay!
Congrats on the new baby! (Now we are being very careful so we don't have another suprise until the baby is at least three!)

This same thing happened to my girlfriend and she was 3 months when she went in! She was so shocked, her babies were much closer together and she has made it through. She was also happy to know she was through the first trimester. LOL!
I am one that believes that everything happens for a reason and you are never given more than you can handle. Just give it a couple days and I am sure it won't seem so bad. It's not like the baby is coming tomorrow. You have 40 weeks to prepare. Well maybe not:goodvibes: :hugs:
Keep us updated!

Congratulations, mama! We conceived our twins the same way.
I'm sure there were times when you thought you couldn't handle twins - haven't we all? You obviously are, and very well from the sounds of it. This surprise blessing will be the same way.

We tried for years and FINALLY after tests, drugs, and plenty of tearful prayers had healthy baby boy. Then completely by surprise, while I was still nursing, I got pregnant too. The second time it was oh so shockingly easy. You can do it and remember there are wonderful blessings to having kids close in age.

UPDATE!
Hey all,
So I went for my ultrasound today at 2pm.
According to the gestational sac size I am 6 weeks 2 days pregnant. I also had a normal sized yolk sac. However, no embryo/heartbeat could be seen.
I started having some light bleeding before my appointment.
The ultrasound doctor said at 6w2d an embryo/heartbeat should be visible. He's suggesting that I come back for another scan no sooner than 1 week from today. He says its possible that the gestational sac is measuring ahead and that Im only 5 weeks or so in which case you wouldnt be able to see a embryo/hearbeat.
The other possibility is obviously that I may be having a failed pregnancy. Only time will tell I guess.
I hand delivered the report to my OB today so we'll see what she'd like done. More to come.
We're just in the waiting stage. If we are going to have a baby then we're happy about it. If we're not going to have a baby, we're ok with that too since this caught us completely off guard.

BIG :hugs: either way!! I was told something similar when I was pregnant w/ #5 and had the labs drawn and follow-up scans and he's 3.5yrs now! Personally, 6w2d isn't so late that there should be without a doubt a HB. He could be off by 3 days and you would only be 5w6d which may not show a HB. Like I said, either way I wish you the best of luck!
A friend of the family had a DS and the found out she was pregnant w/ TWINS when he was only 3 mos old. She had a 13month old and newborn twins! So it could be worse than twin toddlers and a newborn! :giggle:

While I have had no problem concieving naturally, I can feel your pain! We were doing NFP (natural family planning) when I got prgnant with our third. I found out on my yearly gyn exam! I brought my chart to my midwife and "demanded" she tell me how this happened! She said that if everything on the chart was correct (it was) then it shouldn't have. AAARRRGGGHHH! Anyway, he was and still is a blessing and so is his also unplanned younger brother. All my kids are between 22 and 26 months apart, which can be difficult right now, but I think it is a great space! Just last night my 6 year old said "Mommy, William (the 4 year old) is my best friend!" Yay!
You can do it! You may be overwhelmed at times, but as I keep telling myself to get through one of "those" days, they will grow up and then we will be missing them! Good luck!
I didn't realize their were more threads, I hope everything goes well for you!

UPDATE!!!
Hey All,
I had my first blood draw on wed and it was 24000+
I had my second blood draw Friday. My doctor called me at work. My number rose to 33,000+. I said " well thats not very much" and she said " actually its remarkable. We dont expect the number to come even close to doubling once you get in the thousands." I then said " so, does it sound like 1 baby?" to which she said " honestly no. But that will be for the ultrasound tech to decide which is why you need to have another ultrasound done on April 13th. I'll have my nurse schedule it and call you back."
Needless to say, this pregnancy is definitely viable and its going to be a long wait until we get to go for another ultrasound. We're praying for 1 very healthy baby and not another set of multiples! Yikes!
And the rollercoaster continues-stay tuned!

Congrats Mama! I was in the same boat as you at one time. My twins were 15 months old when our surprise came along......It is a lot easier when you have the twins on a schedule, but the first year is very difficult since the baby and the twins will be on different awake/sleep schedules. When the first year is up, it is like having triplets........Plus you have done two kids...IMO you can do one in your sleep as I tell everyone who asks.
Good luck and keep posting updates.

I personally know of 3 momma that had to do diff types of fertility to get preg the fist time, had their babies and quickly got preg with the second (third). It is almost like the first baby cleared the way for more.
Any updates on another set of twins!!

Yes, you can do it!!! We had a 6 mo old son when we conceived our twins. it took us many months to have DS#1, so we never expected to conceive so quickly and then twins! We do not live around family, but many friends pitched in to help. our son was barely 14 mo. when our twin boys were born. it was very busy and difficult, but we made it!! you can do it! It does get easier. you will think having 1 baby after twins is no problem. We are having our 4th son in Aug. and our twins will be 2. You learn how to manage!
