So today I am 28wks.! Had my doc. appt. this morning w/ an u/s to check babys growth. First thing u/s tech told me is that my cervix (back end of it) is dialated to 2cm., and then she said I have placenta previa...which they never mentioned at all my other u/s. So they did a vaginal u/s and my cervix still is long which is good and the other end is closed which is also good. But she said since it is dialated so early that my chances of delivery quite early is very likely since I went into premature labor at almost 32wks. with my 2nd ( they stopped) and then went into labor again at 37wks. But at 32wks. with last one I was 3cm. dialated at one end of cervix, and 1 cm. dialated at the outer end. So she said she hopes I make it to 36wks. and will be lucky if I do :-( The major drawback is that my placenta still is covering part of cervix, which most womens move by then, and she said it still has a chance to move but isn't going to move all the way out of the way in like 4wks. or anything. So the likliness of it moving before I go into labor is not likely she said. The longer I carry, the more likely it will move, but the earlier I go the less likely it will. KWIM? So after finding the only doc. in KY to do a vbac after 2 c/s will be pointless if my placenta doesn't move, because they will automatically do a c/s!!!! I am so dissappointed! Anyone else have any of these issues?

Sorry to hear about what is happening. :-( :hugs: Hope you make it longer than what they say! I'll keep you in mind.

Predictions on where your placenta will be in 4 week,s 8 weeks or delivery are pretty unpredictable. It will either move or it won't, but most likely it will to have a vaginal delivery. I am 26 weeks and dilated to 4 or so, effaced 75%, just been my way w/ my last 5-6 pregnanies. I do get lots of contraxs at 32+, but babies were not born until 37-39 w/o issue. I think you are being set up for a easy way for them to say you need a c/s since you are going w/ a VBA2C. There is no sense getting a c/s unless you go into labor and have bleeding, otherwise your placenta did "move". Often they just want to section before you even go into labor for no real reason.

I walked around 2cm dilated from 24 weeks to 39 weeks. I personally (just my own :2cents: not medically worthy at all) don't put much faith in using early dilation to gauge when labor will begin. Your history probably is a better indicator, but not always. Every pregnancy is different.

I hope everything works out for you the way you want it to :goodvibes: Best wishes for a healthy mama and baby.

Yes, this.

My placenta was monitored at intervals to check its progress in moving away from my cervix. In the end (38 weeks) it did *not* get off my cervix completely, so I had to have a cesarean to prevent fetal demise and maternal hemorrhage. It is a true, true reason to have a c-sections, because going into labor with PP is very dangerous.

That said, my placenta migrated a LOT as compared to when it started. If yours is already marginal at 28 weeks, you've got a great shot!!!!

*hopes for you*

well you def. do not want to do a vaginal and birth the placenta before the baby! That is HIGHLY dangerous. I am assuming that if you go into labor, they will give you an u/s to see where the placenta is before deciding anything.
You can always schedule a c-section and if you go into labor b4 the day, have them see where the placenta is. That is if the OB that will do a VBAC is even at the hospital then. My ob told me that she will VBAC me, but not every OB in the hospital will VBAC, so if she isnt there and I am in labor, I will have another c-section.

A happy healthy baby is more important to me than putting baby's health at risk, as well as mine. No matter how she gets here, so long as she's healthy!

Thanks mamas! I guess I more worried about going into labor way to early and it not being stopped than having to get another c/s. Yea obviously if placenta is still there when I go into labor, I will def. get a c/s because I know how dangerous it can be. Yea there is always that chance that my doc. wont be there....but he accepts only a certain amount of high risk patients and doesn't work with healthy preg. mamas and never vacations. All patients have his cell phone and he is on call everyday unless he is out of town which is rare. He has delivered 90% of his patients babies, so I am pretty confident he will be there, but if not, I guess I will be one of that 10% that has to go a diff. route.

no advice, just :hugs:
My mom had placenta previa w/ my oldest brother, and it moved and she was able to have a vaginal birth. But my brother was also 6 weeks early, but he was very healthy.
Are they talking bed rest at all for you?

Lexy - sorry everything is not exactly working out how you had hoped. I hope you are able to make it at least to 36 weeks!

Praying that your placenta moves and you can have the VBAC you want!

Sorry things aren't working out as you had hoped and planned :hugs: Lots of prayers headed your way that you don't go into labor early and the placenta moves so you can have your VBAC.

Thanks again mamas! I think the initial shock of it is over now and I am okay with it. I just never picture me having any issues, its always other preg. people...KWIM? But I am okay with everything, and no everything will turn out okay and how it should and will be fine regardless of early labor or c/s. No bedrest right now!!! WHoohooo, but then again I took my 1 and 2 yr. with me at 730 this morning and was carrying 2yr. with sling and pushing 1 yr. old in stroller, so doc. might not see any use in telling me bedrest, since I obviously can't find anyone to watch my kids early in the morning just so I can go to my appt. in peace...lol. (I was secretely hoping they were going to say "stay away from sex", since I am the least bit interested and hubby continues to bug me ever single night....grrrr....but they didn't say that. DARN!!)

Right?!! I'm in the same situation about the sex thing. I mean, i feel bad because he's not getting any, and I feel like I shoudl, but it's just such a pain with this belly - silly baby, look where you got us. :giggle2: I'm ok with just laying on the couch and massages. :goodvibes:

Kim-poor friend! Well atleast I know it could always be worse and it's not like I'm not gonna get a beautiful baby at the the end of all this!

Her's was a very rare and severe case and she ended up hemorrhaging at 36 weeks and had to have an emergency c-section. She is now a happy 4 month old!! I have a low placenta right now that is right next to my cervix. I am going to have another u/s soon to figure out where it has moved to. I know how scary it is!! I never had issues in my past pregnancies and then all of the sudden I have this time around. My friends who have all had their 3rd babies have said that the 3rd time around is the worst and all of them had something crazy going on!!

Kim- oh I wish I could say the same!!! How lovely would it be to not be bothered every night when I am trying to sleep...if DH wouldn't get pissed off, mine would be on a break my entire preg. and post partum a little...lol. Yea it seems each preg. I get more and more suprises and complications...

I think kids have dramatically lowered my sex drive...well maybe I never hit it (if I just turned 21 is that around the time a womans sex drive is suppose to kick in?)

Mine really, really kicked in my 30's. In my 20's w/ lots of littles it was much lower, less money, so much to do every day. Life was harder.

I was 3 cm dialated w/ my last at 28 weeks and I was able to make it to 32 weeks and delivered then. He was still a big baby 5 lbs 8 oz. I've had pp twice, but mine moved by 34 weeks, so I"m no help there. I hope you get the vbac you want, and that the little one stays incubated a little longer ;)

hope everything works out in the end!!! I'm glad you're feeling a little more at ease with everything today, that must have been a lot of stress in one day

I agree with what other people have said about being dilated and stuff, they told me I was going to deliver early because of being dilated early and it was my first, but she went over, so it depends on a lot of factors!

:hugs:

Nicole- Oh my that is a big ol baby for that early...gohlee, was your due date incorrect? My son was 8lbs. and born at 37wks. and I thought that was a pretty big baby for being early...lol

Anabelle- Yea I agree having kids makes sex the last thing on my mind every single day....but I sure do hope that when I am finished (hopefully next yr.) that my sex drive will go up dramatically for my poor hubby. Not me, I could care less about ever having sex again, but I feel bad for DH :-( So maybe after our 4th one, I will go crazy for sex...lol....or not. I can't see how it could change out of know where, but I guess it does.

Anna-Thanks! I think everything is going to be great...but I do think I will def. deliver early. Last time I felt I was going to deliver early and this time I feel the same way. I just think it is such a coicendence (sp?) that last preg. I was 32wks. and had contractions for 2hrs. that were stopped and they said that cervix was still long (4-5in. or cm. whatever it's supposed to be) and at the upper end I was 3cm. dialated and at the bottom end I was 1cm. and then 5wks. later I went into labor. I had never even heard of one end being dialated and the other not....but then again I didn't even know what a cervix looked like at my last preg.lol. And then this time I had contractions at 26wks. that lasted for an 1 1/2 and stopped on their own, but I knew they dialated me by how intense they were, and when i get checked at 28wks. upper end is dialated 2cm. and bottom is still closed and cervix is 5-6in. or cm. or whatever....it just seems weird.
