I saw mention of this in the Colorado thread... but wasn't sure if anyone had ever gotten anything together.

What do you CS mamas think? Want to arrange something while the weather is dazzling this summer? Maybe a kick-off cook-out meet-up at Palmer Park or something?

There's also Wit's End at Focus On The Family if we'd rather be inside.. good place for a good range of ages!

Maybe by winter we'd be comfortable enough that we could meet in homes and stuff?

Chime in! Let's do this! I need some IRL CDing friends!

I'm interested! What side of town are you on?

Seralyn
06-12-2009, 10:57 PM
I live in the Central area of town, near Palmer Park actually! (But that's not why I suggested that park.. I just figured it's a central location with a gazebo and a playground!)

Awesome! I love Palmer Park! We live on the East side of Powers but I'm only about 10 minutes from Palmer Park.

We're near powers/n carefree so not far from palmer park either. I'd be willing to get together if you guys want to do something.

Sure! I go back to work in a week but I'm free tomorrow and all next week during the day. After that I'll be limited to one weekday a week and weekends. Pick a time and I'll be there!

Well I'm leaving town tomorrow for a long weekend.. and I'm not sure about next week. But you guys go ahead and get things started if you want!!!

I'm at Fort Carson but I can drive my way up to Palmer Park. Friday's are best for me in the summer.

I'm an Army wife too, we don't live on post though. I've been surprised to find so many Army wives CDing. I can actually do tomorrow (Friday) if you are interested sometime in the afternoon. Send me a PM and I'll get you my numbers and we can set something up if you want.

PM sent. We're going to the zoo in the AM, so it will have to be an afternoon playdate for us. If you're interested we have a little playground at our townhouse... just a backyard type thing for the community... you could come over and that way we won't have to worry about finding eachother. If you don't feel comfortable I totally understand and we can do Palmer Park.

TCgreenmama
06-19-2009, 07:20 PM
Is the playground big enough for a 4 year old to play too?

mom23griffs
06-20-2009, 11:30 AM
I don't mind going to a community playground, that would be ok. How does Friday 6/26 sound for everybody?

TCgreenmama
06-20-2009, 04:31 PM
I think Friday the 26th sounds great! Can we do it in the afternoon? Say around 2:30 or later if we need to because of naps. My 4y/o doesn't nap anymore and the baby sleeps wherever LOL. If we are going to a community park can we have the address please? Or we can just plan on Palmer Park but sometimes that's not good for meeting up because it's so huge and the kids take off in all different directions. There's also a nice little park near me on the corner of Peterson and Pony Tracks across the street from Remington Elementary.

Sorry Laura, I didn't get your PM until today. I don't get on the computer really at all on the weekends!
The playground at our place has a slide, regular swing and baby swing, the little playhouse at the top... not huge, like one of the bigger wooden backyard ones. Its also nice because there's a tennis court on one side and almost vertical rock walls or a fence on all but one side so there's not much escaping. If you guys are interested in meeting there let me know and I'll PM you the address.
I'm ok with meeting at another park too... and Fri works for us, 230 is a great time.

ME TOO!!!!! Wow!! I didn't even know this thread existed! We're all in for a meetup at Palmer Park! :lostit:

cjbug
06-22-2009, 12:37 PM
Or the community park would be even better (I didn't read through the whole thread--too excited!) We wouldn't be able to get there until 3 or 3:30 because of naps. How old are your kids?
Ours are 4 1/2, 3 1/2 and almost 2. (boy, girl, boy)

mom23griffs
06-22-2009, 01:21 PM
Community park sounds good, I think there would probably be less going on there. Palmer Park can get kind of crazy sometimes. Friday at 2:30 is good. PM me the address! My kids are: 7, 4 and 17 months!

TCgreenmama
06-22-2009, 09:30 PM
My kids are 4.5 and 8weeks. It looks like the meet-up is a go for Friday at 2:30. Don't worry, I'm sure we'll still be there at 3:30. I think the plan is to go to the small community park. I guess we need to PM for the address. The park is over here on the East side of town though.

TCgreenmama
06-22-2009, 09:31 PM
wow, looks like lots of 4.5 year old boys coming! I'm so excited. My little guy is in desperate need of some friends.

cjbug
06-22-2009, 09:55 PM
So what are the chances that it'll be raining by 3:30??? :giggle: Hopefully not...
No worries! My 4.5 y/o boy makes friends everywhere he goes! Problem is, he expects ALL his new friends to be at the park the next time we go!
Here are my kids--hard to miss (and yes, that's marker on the little guy)...

So are we planning the playground by my place or a little bigger one since there's a few more kiddos now? Ours just has 1 swing, 1 baby swing, the seasaw type swing, slide, & playhouse at the top. If you want to come to ours let me know and I'll PM you directions.

cjbug
06-23-2009, 08:00 AM
How about the "train park" on N. Carefree and W Carefree?? Take Academy to N. Carefree. Turn east. Go just past the stoplight on W. Carefree and take a left. Wha-la! :)

jenthe10
06-23-2009, 08:05 AM
The train park sounds good to me. :) I don't think it will be near as busy as Palmer Park.

TCgreenmama
06-23-2009, 10:22 AM
The train park sounds awesome. Topped wants me to stop everytime we pass it.

cjbug
06-23-2009, 10:37 AM
Yeah, my kids love it there, and there's something for everyone, really. And since they replaced the old train, it's so much better! (And there's shade, too, if it's too hot.)

Seralyn
06-23-2009, 05:10 PM
Hi! I'm back from my weekend. Yay! There's a plan all set out and everything! The train park sounds pretty awesome. Palmer Park does get kind of crazy. Should we bring something so that moms coming in late will know "hey.. we're meeting at this spot over here!" like a bright umbrella or something? (Haha.. or a flag made from a PF! This part is a joke btw.)

I have a 4yo boy (yes! another one!) and a 2yo boy.. and a baby on the way. I'm really excited to find more CDing mamas. I'm jso on my 2yo and already losing steam!

Seralyn
06-23-2009, 05:14 PM
Something else -- I'll bring some paper & a pen so we can exchange info at the park. OR - I could just compose a list on the computer and e-mail/PM it to everyone. It's whatever ya'll are most comfortable with. :)

TCgreenmama
06-24-2009, 10:22 PM
We should totally make a flag LOL!

mom23griffs
06-25-2009, 10:59 AM
omg a flag would be so funny. It could have a cd on it. Are we still meeting at the train park at 2:30? Sounds good to me!

hey ladies--I'm hoping to come, but we may not be able to make it. I'm having a lupus flare--I hope it's just this nasty weather/humidity. But if I don't improve a lot, we won't be able to get there. Hopefully it will be so much fun, we'll want to do it again!!!

TCgreenmama
06-25-2009, 09:45 PM
That's a bummer CJ! I hope we see you there, if not then next time! I'm sure we'll do it again.

Seralyn
06-25-2009, 11:27 PM
Let's also hope it doesn't rain while we're there, eh?

jenthe10
06-26-2009, 05:39 AM
I just looked at the hour by hour forcast and it says 30%chance of thunderstorms starting around noon :( Let's hope that doesn't happen. Should we have a backup plan just in case? Or meet at the park and then decide somewhere else if it's raining. BTW I like the flag idea too! CJ, hope you can make it!

Seralyn
06-26-2009, 10:11 AM
Uhm.. let's go ahead and meet at the park... If it's raining .. we can maybe go to McD's or something with an indoor playground?

I'll see if I don't have time to fashion up a flag of some sort for us. Worst-case scenario.. it'll be an umbrella with a PF pinned to it. Let's also try to find a table or a tree or something so we have a place to set stuff.

Hmmm... maybe... pull out a CD and clip it to the outside of your diaper bag... that way the first couple of people who meet up will be like.. "OH! THERE'S ONE!" And hopefully as people show up it'll be obvious where to go.

Any of those ideas work ???? My brain is fried today.. sorry!

:jawdrop: Cool--Hi Brittney! How are you feeling? :) (I always ask that, don't I???:giggle: )

I'm not doing well today, but maybe I'll improve after naptime. There's a pavillion at the park (no bathrooms, though...closed due to budget cuts). But there are some tables under the pavilion--shade and rain-cover if necessary.

Knock on wood it's not raining here yet and we are just down the street. It's getting dark though. We also may be a few min late due to naps. And I just heard thunder!

jenthe10
06-26-2009, 02:16 PM
Ok the rain just started. Anyone that might be late want to pm me their number and I can call if we decide to go somewhere other than the park. I'd post my number but I don't want someone weird getting on here and prank calling me LOL. I'll reply with my number though.

Well... kids are waking up.. but we have a nice windy rainy thunderstorm outside. I'm eating my words now. :( I think I'm just going to wait it out and miss the play date.

I hope we set up another one soon... I really need some CD encouragement!!!!

And for those of you that met at the park, I hope you're safe!!!!

Hey everyone, I'm in CS as well(well, actually Fountain). I'm brand new to CDing(we're just on day 4), but would love to meet people IRL who CD! Everyone I know, says "Ewww" when I mention CDing to them, so no encouragement there!
I have 3 kiddos, ages 5.5, 4.5, and 5mos. (girl, girl, boy).
